WOW!!! You guys are unbelievable! That opening snow scene with the NS train coming out of the tunnel blew my socks off. I could swear I was looking at the real thing. I'm gonna bookmark this one so I can watch it over and over again. Not only was the camera work great but you got all the little sounds and the air horn exactly right too. All you can add now is the SMELL of diesel smoke from the engine. But smells are kinda hard to do on RUclips! GREAT WORK GUYS!!!
My dad and I spent time building and operating a HO set when I was a kid with Santa Fe and CSX engines. Had a lot of fun with it for many years. This is somewhat of a reminder of that. Awesome scenery, good job. Much more than anything we prepared.
WOW! that's awesome. Usually I see these with no snow on the models but these looked GREAT! the landscape, locomotives, cars, and sound is perfect! Great Job
I have watched numerous HO Scale models, many that look amazing. I had to show this one to my wife, she was blown away just I was. The realism is so unbelievable!!! Great job guys.
NSmodeler24 has the best model railroad videos I've ever seen. Notice the echo of the lead locomotive's air horns at 1:50 minutes. Notice the snow is partly melted on the tops of some of the box cars, exactly in spots where excess heat may have melted it. Amazing attention to detail. GREAT JOB!
yeah its crazy i mean this morning went for a 2 hour walk in shorts and long sleeve shirt at 7am in Maryland. Never would of thought that would happen. Damn you Al Gore !!! j/k
I like the way the sound effect is such that the snow covered right-of-way slightly muffles the sound of the train in motion. In real life, snow has that effect even on elevated rapid transit line such as what you would see in New York or Chicago......the noise is not nearly as loud on those open steel structures when the tracks are covered with snow.
Very cool, very well done. The only small...and I mean small detail I noticed was the second scene with the car at the crossing. You can hear the bell from the crossing gates in the audio track. But there isn't one in the scene. Like I said, small detail. LOL. Great job, I have shown this to a number of people, and all love it.
You did a great job on this video. The computer snow falling, Ice sickles on the rocks, and snow on the rolling stock. You could almost see the wipers moving on the loco windshield! Great video.
Very nicely done. The scenery, particularly noting how icicles form between rock outcroppings, is exceptionally realistic. The snow coverage on the train -- especially the wind-swept boxcar roofs -- is excellent and believable. It's as if the locomotives had been sitting in the yard but just picked up the newly-arrived boxcars that were subjected to a little speed on the road shortly before this leisurely roll. I like that you have a dedicated winter scene for your layout. The falling snow 'pro edit' works very well. I've never been a big fan of the 'foley' function in film and television production, due to how artificial and even ridiculous it can seem to nitpickers like me, but it generally blends in without much adverse notice due to our conditioning as viewers over the course of many decades. That said, you did a great job in finding real-life recorded 'train spotting' sound sources that serve quite convincingly for the most part. The span between about 00:18 and 00:26 is a prime example: it's low-speed 'roll-by' sound from a yard or the open rails, but you dovetail the emergence of the engines from the tunnel very well with the change in the acoustic characteristics of the horns. I'm sure that it wasn't easy to locate sounds that fit in and weren't glaringly inaccurate. I enjoy it when smart people do things smartly. 😁 Old upload, new comment on October 22nd, 2023, but an endearing and enduring passion. Keep the lantern lit and the good work going. 🙂
Nicely done - love the snow on the layout and your trains. We don't have any here on the West Coast and hope it stays that way. Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.
Very clever! It's amazing! What will you come up with next? You managed to create a snowstorm in a climate controlled, 72° F, indoor room. Almost miraculous! :- )
At least someone has snow for Christmas. We are going to have a green and probably a wet one this year. Great effects. Great job on the snow and the video effects.Scott
Fantastic work. The railroad might want to spring for some Slide Fence and Portal Protection. I see a lot of ice in those rocks. The forming and expansion of ice in the cracks of those rocks will cause them to come down on the tracks in the spring. safety first guys. ;)
Dude...this blew my socks clean off! The viewpoint at the grade crossing with the snow and ice detail is downright Sick. I replayed it twice.
+Corey Kesler Thanks Corey! Glad you liked it!
***** Yes I did. I am just another of, I know, many admiring your work, Chief. Keep it coming.

It looks pretty real to me......
Holy crap!!! I thought that was real at first!!!

Train LAYOUT
Holy cow! I thought I’d seen it all, but this video take model railroading to a higher level. Truly amazing.
This is the first snow scene I've seen on a train layout & how realistic the snow is falling. I love it! ❄❄❄❄

Fantastic snow effects. I almost thought the falling snow was real😁.
Very cool I like the "Drone Effect" How your waved the camera in the air making it look like a quadcopter was taking the footage.
This is the only snow ill see this year being that its 70 degrees in the mid-atlantic on XMAS. World is ending. Awesome video thanks for sharing this
+Matt Jenkins (vwgolfer187) I live in Northern Massachusetts and we haven't seen any yet either

The snow falling is just a video trick. The snow on the train and the ground looks realistic.
CrazyBear65 it is
CrazyBear65 yup and the sounds are edited into the video From real world trains. . But very well done
@@gamingreloaded7849 no, they are built into the trains
@@unknown_9100 he has sounds in trains, but in this video he used a recording from a real train
Could not be more realistic. Fantastic job.
Very realistic. It could pass as a real train. Good job.
Very well done indeed! My next layout is going to be fully in snow (though steam era), and your work will definitely be a good reference. :)
simply amazing, too realistic looking to think that it is not. spectacular job

Good catch! Haha I was wondering when someone would notice. Good eye for details and thanks for watching! -Josh

That looked so real!!!!! Great video!
Legit thought the image in the thumbnail was from an actual tunnel and not an HO scale layout. Very nice
nice snow falling on the cars
