- In this video, I explore what Rameshwaram Cafe teaches us about UX design and how UX principles apply to everyday experiences. I talk about some UX principles I noticed in the design of Rameshwaram Cafe and how they relate to screen-based UX design. It’s interesting to see how visibility of system status and other principles play out in a physical space, and how those ideas can transfer to digital design. The cafe's design is inspired by temples, making it feel welcoming and open. You can enter from all sides, and the way they placed everything makes it feel like you can just gather and spend time there. It’s not just about social service or something, but about their business goals too. They want people to feel comfortable, eat quickly, and have a good experience.
I also discuss how the cafe's location is strategic, being on a corner so you can see all the activity inside from multiple roads. This visibility attracts more people. The design is very thoughtful, from the statues and shades to the materials used, like granite, making it feel special and welcoming.
I explain how the cafe's design aligns with their business goals, making sure everything is efficient and pleasant so they can serve more customers quickly. This isn’t about doing social service but optimizing their business.
The holistic customer experience is another big point. They take care of every detail, like the scent and music, to create a memorable experience. Customers might just talk about the food, but it’s the whole design and atmosphere that makes them want to come back.

Nice video
From what I could gather from this video: Anudeep sir talked about how the rameshwaram cafe may be benefitting from the doherty threshold principle( not in absolute sense, of course) because they have the restaurant open from two sides and also the roads are located on these two sides, and thus the nearby people passing by see that there is a lot of hustle and bustle going on in that cafe, where a lot of people are eating and enjoying meals. So, this is like showing the people who have not just visited the cafe, looking at other people having a good experience at the cafe and even they might want to relish the dishes over there. Here are the things that might be getting impacted: 1) Social proof: Since, there is a lot of crowd at the cafe, people passing by might wonder that this might be a good place to eat because a lot of people are eating there( as is the basic human psychology). 2) This Social proofing may lead to more conversions and a lot of other people enter the restaurant and buy food and if it tastes good then spreading the word of mouth to their friends and family, which may lead to increase in daily active customers for the cafe. By all this the business is getting positively affected, while the customers are loving the food (if at all the food is absolutely delicious).
Love your thinking!
