I was born in 1998, so I grew up in the 2000s, but I still remember a lot of these things. Captain Underpants, Nickelodeon shows like Kenan and Kel, Drake and Josh, and the cartoons, along with I Spy and more, were such huge parts of a happy childhood. I remember all of those things very fondly. It almost seemed like times were simpler back then.

I saw a meme of Star Wars with Mace Windu representing 1990-1997 kids and Anakin Skywalker representing 1998-1999 kids. "You're on this council, but we don't grant you the rank of master". I was born in 1997, but I don't consider myself to be a 90s kid. My memories come more from the 2000s and I call myself a 00s kid. I get nostalgic a lot more often since today's time is not the greatest time to live in due to social media being everywhere, especially on our phones. Oh by the way, I loved Toy Story and Blue's Clues as a kid. Definitely gets me a ton of nostalgia.

I was born in the late 80s so was a child throughout the 90s. Except for three of the books and one TV show, I had seen all the rest of them and knew them as soon as I saw them, I just didn't know what some of the names of the toys were. I also thought that was Nat Geo magazine at first, but I have never heard of that magazine series.
I had several lava lamps in the early 2000s. My sister who is a bit younger than me had moonshoes and mood rings and I remember thinking Moonshoes were cool until I saw them in person and didn't like them so much. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is one of my favourite shows. I think at one point, I watched one episode in order every few days for about 4 years (don't know why I did that).

Edit: overall, a very enjoyable video. My reaction below was just this Huh??? moment I could not shake ☺️
After re-reading, it might seem my reaction to the video as a whole was negative and felt it was important to state that is not the case.
    Refreshing to see/hear another’s perspectives.
Although you thought you’d do better, it still seemed like you did very well.
Acknowledging gaps and where you thought your kids would know things you might not was a testament as to how others’ experiences can help us understand more about ourselves, other individuals and the world we live in/times we we live through.
    Major props!
    ___ original post
The most shocking thing to me though was the comment about PlayStation being 1st “real console”
Like, WHAAAAT??? (Siri/Alexa/Google, please show “what ‘chu talkin’ about Willis?” level disbelief here 😮)
Did you forget about Nintendo (NES)???
Although it’s an 80s release it’s by far thought to be the system that transitioned from basic early home consoles like Pong/Atari (which we had) to “real” video game consoles.
I mean yeah, Sega Genesis was there too, but most people I knew were Nintendo houses.
Most of we knew were buying Nintendo 64s over PlayStation’s. At that time we couldn’t afford either.
We played our NES/SuperNES or what was at others’ houses 🫣 and I never had an opportunity to play the PlayStation. Just never saw one in anyone’s house. Knew just one household that had a Sega Genesis.
    Wow, totally 🤯
