How to Use the Western Wall's Power From Home

What it it about the Western Wall (the Kotel) that makes it so powerful? How come so many prayers have been answered there, so many salvations have come down through there, and so many miracles have been achieved there? Is it just because it was the outer wall of the Temple mount? Is it just because of the physical closeness to the old location of the Temple? Or is there some deeper spiritual reason going on, and if there is, how do you tap into the power of the Western Wall? Prayers at the Western Wall have power, because they are said by people who believe in the power of their prayers. People know and believe that it is powerful place, and so they pray with extra belief in God and prayer, and wth extra intention. And in order for prayers to be answered, the one praying needs to believe that his prayers can be answered, because if he doesn’t believe that God can do it, or will do it, then which God is he praying to? His lack of faith in his prayers shows a lack of faith in the God he is praying to. So the kotel wakes up peoples souls to once again believe in the power of his prayers, believe that salvation is possible and believe that miracles are possible.

Prayer and emunah (faith) go hand in hand. Prayer, and especially hitbodedut and personal prayer in your own words, make God so much more real to you. If you really believe in a Creator, then He's someone you can talk to. And the more you pray and receive divine intervention the more faith you will gain, and the more small miracles you will start to notice. God is not just a figurehead from the torah (bible) that exists for Judaism, major religions, and morals. A connection to HaShem (God in Hebrew) is meaning, purpose, and direction. He is the source of your soul, your life force, the universal truth, and the reason you are alive. True happiness is inner happiness and inner peace. Inner peace comes from a meaningful life. Depression, anxiety, and sadness come from a desire and and dependence on outside sources of happiness and excitement, but when the simcha (happiness) is radiating from within, from the soul, nothing can take that away, no matter what external events, dealing with challenges, or difficult situations come up. Rebbe Nachman of Breslev says this from of meditation (personal prayer and hitbodedut / hisbodedus) is heaven on earth, like living in paradise. Rabbi Nachman of Breslov writes that the only way to reach true simcha/happiness is through perfect emuna (faith), and trust (bitachon), because then you have nothing to worry about, nothing to fear, and can relax. The best cure, the most effective self help and natural emotional healing, is to realize that God exists, loves us, and that everything is for the best!
