At one point when Ellie and joke arrive at the sign that says university and behind them there is a figure 🤔
Another thing for Henry that’s sad is Henry said the most violent thing he’s ever done was hold Joel up with an unloaded gun. Yet his first true violent act was killing his brother and then himself
promoting virus' now? kinda low...
You missed some details.. disappointed lol.
Its pronounced "SantaolaYa"
I like how Ellie tells him "you could've just made something up, I would've believed you", and then later Joel says everybody loved contractors.
yes this part 😂😂😂😂
Everybody does love contractors. Especially ones like me who do side work for free.
@@Diiixiiinormus
Are you sure about that?
And makes something else up in the season finale
This episode really showcased Pedro’s acting range and wow. So vulnerable and emotional.
Love that they're showing Joel's vulnerability this episode compared to the unstoppable action hero he's often depicted as in the video games.
@@arcturionblade1077 is there a reason you like this?
@@FullMetalB yes. More than the game
He’s SUCH an amazing actor! From GOT to Mando.... to THIS! Just WOW!!!
@@FullMetalB because it's more human and realistic than the depiction in the games? Plus it's good acting?
I really enjoyed how well they made Greene and his wife's characters. They really got how old native couples are with one another. Always giving one another jibs and just how they talked to one another in general. Reminds me of my family so much. The strange Native sense of humor.
Very well depicted.
Moved last year from the mid west to the west coast, and damn that couple made me so damn home sick.
reminds me so much of Reservoir Dogs. seeing more native made stuff is making me realize how funny they are
Reminds me of my family too! I laughed so much
@@TheRealBoss1113 Reservation Dogs?
Pedro and Bella are just simply amazing on this episode, I'd be surprised if they don't win any awards.
Ok?
@@one.2622 ok???
Well not much happens this episode. It needs to get alot better to win awards.
@@jonfreeman9682not every episode needs 100% action…just showing they’re relationship and the progression is the basis of the whole story
@@chrisstewart8272people will always complain for no good reason
Pedro absolutely murdered it this episode. No wonder he's getting these roles, he makes a bad scene good.
Interested what scene you thought was bad?
Just curious.. I'd like to know as well. I agree he crushed this episode. Huge fan of the game series
Huh
@@jacksonfisher148 I think that it was just a figure of speech
My attachment to ellie and joel grew exponentially on this episode. Those two can act.
They’re terrible lol horrible depictions of the game characters
i love the subtle hint towards joel’s interrogation technique at the start of the episode by asking both people to point at the same point on the map, probably hinting towards the same scene in the game when he’s trying to find ellie
No shit
will we see that next episode?
i think that the shot of him walking into the 2003 bedroom was like a flashback to walking into sarah’s room for joel and ellie being in that room was another parallel to sarah
Also adding, that Joel said that he wanted a ranch with sheep and we can see in TLOU part.2 that Ellie and Dina lived in a ranch full of sheep. The details are chef's kiss.
I noticed that too!
@@sydneyclement9951 the details are so good.
I got instant last of us part 2 vibes when joel and ellie walked in the town and I love how one of maria's horse is named shimmer just like ellie's horse in part 2.
That’s the same horse.
"Just like ellies horse" 🤣 I love that you got all the way there but just didn't connect
@@FullMetalB "Hey, that horse looks just like Ellie's horse in Part 2, it even has the same name! I mean, what are the odds?" 😂
Lol the whole town is from part 2
@@kfizz no way
Joel's panic attack triggered because Joel is thinking of his brother's safety when the old couples told them about what is beyond the river.
That’s what I got from it and this explanation shows me why I got a C in high school English class lmao
Not in the game what's so ever.
The "who's this little psycho?" line from Marlin cracked me up.
Ho-ly
😂😂 their entire interaction with them was hilarious 😂 😃
Graham Greene was fantastic in the opening scene he's a national treasure 🇨🇦
Love how Joel's dreams of him failing over and over again resembles me playing the game and always dying
Joel isn’t stabbed by a shank. When the raider attacks, he swings a bat at them which misses and shatters against either a tree or a pole. When Joel grabs the raider, he is accidentally stabbed by the broken bat handle the raider is still holding.
I was frustrated with this whole part of the episode. It felt really rushed and lacked the emotion and risk from the game. For such a big plot point it felt like they crammed it at the end.
was that a bat or axe?
@@angusmcdonaldboydetective it was a bit rushed but they really didn't need to drag out the university part. All that you need to know there is that fireflies were there and have recently left with evidence to where they went. No need for random infected fights or raiders, those are just game elements to pad out that game section since nothing else happens then and as a game it needed action so it was kinda randomly thrown in there (why would fireflies have a base with infected so close? makes no sense). Joel also can't be injured as crazily as in the game because it was super unrealistic and actually bothered me how he could survive such a thing.
@@angusmcdonaldboydetective i agree, i dont understand why they changed it from the game, which was far more believable....i mean, a seasoned survivor like Joel would know not to pull things out of you or youll bleed out, atleast in the game it made sense that he would bleed out seeing as he fell on a pole stuck in the ground and the only way was to remove himself from it
I know this is small but I really loved Florence and marlin as characters. I friking loved them both, though Florence’s antics were pretty funny “yes I made them soup”.
Great little character drama.
The great character building/developing moments in episodes like this, is just as good as (if not better than) the action packed moments.
Not not true what so ever lol the only it'll be better is the action is trash, but still alot of good moments
What action packed moments?
The saddest part about the snow is , we know it gonna end in just 2 seasons, but we just can't get enough of it.
Dunno about that so many other paths on the map to explore.
@@MelonMasher64 the red and green paths are both from part 2
Might be a third if they make a third game, which they supposedly are
@@Billie9510 opps only played the first one - few hundred times lol
@@MelonMasher64 no problem
I like how Ellie tells Joel he could have just made something up about the damn. In the game he actually tried to make something up.
That damned dam...

Don't let your phone get the best of you!
In the game he explained. Joel of the game is much more self sufficient and knowledgeable in his crafting and engineering. This Joel is suppose to be bad, weak, old and sick. Plenty of room for Abby to play golf …
I think the dog didn't attack Ellie, because Tommy's wife said that the patrol is more bark than bite. It was most likely just a scare tactic
@@DeagleGamesTV Yup, "they smell fear" basically.. So, if you were infected, you would definitely be scared for your life at that moment.
I agree. I mean if you were infected, you'd probably cave in at that moment and say that you or your daughter got bit "but...", the dog is there to scare
I think it's simply that Ellie isn't infected.
@@DeagleGamesTV I agree. Although I still think it would be a better idea to have them strip down and do a physical inspection for bite marks and wounds.
@@fireburn95rs Yeah, it's a lose lose situation for you either way if you don't come clean.
16:25 I love that comment Ellie made about the researchers turning into monkeys and for a split-second Joel considers it LOL
I like the detail of the dog sniffing out the cordecyps on Ellie, kinda reminds me of the first episode where the neighbor's dog was reacting to the grandmother being infected too
I damn near cried over Pedros emotional performance
I hope to see more films directed by Jasmila Žbanić. This was a great episode.
Wind River staring Hawkeye & Scarlett Witch was so good. Anyone who haven't seen it go watch it. Underrated movie.
Suuuuuper sad movie but such an excellent movie. Can’t recommend it enough.
It also stars The Punisher. That was a really good movie.
Yep, great film.
Fantastic movie
I think it's Emily Olsen in wind river. Not Scarlett Johansson 😂
17:08 Yeah, if you get something sharp stabbed and embedded in you, don't pull it out or you'll risk bleeding out and dying. Only a trained doctor should remove the obstruction (hopefully after you're transported to a hospital so they can perform surgery).
This is exactly what happened to Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, after the stingray barb he was stabbed in the chest with was pulled out and he bled to death.
Depends on location. Extremities you can tourniquet. Abdomen, not so much.
@@StanHalen1936 Honest Question, why a torniquet wouldn't work on the Abdomen?
@Érico Vinicius where ya gonna place it? All the major abdominal vessels (abdominal aorta, SVC, IVC) are all too deep.
@@ericovinicius2914 tourniquets work by putting enough pressure on a location that it stops the blood flow. There would be no way to do that on anything other than an arm or leg
i was straight YELLING at the screen when he pulled it out💀😭
I literally yelled at the TV when Joel removed his shank. “Joel should know better!”
Where did they get the extra horses for Joel and Ellie to ride back with them?
I really feel like the dog not attacking Ellie can be explained by Maria's group just bluffing and lying about the dog being able to sniff out cordyceps.
The cordiceps doesn't fix physical ailments per se. But it does fix brain disfunctions, as it takes over functions from the brain and controls the body directly. That would include (partial) paralysis. But not fixing deaf ears because the drums, cochlear or whatever are not fixed.
17:19 it's a fragment of the same baseball bat that one of the bandits broke on the tree while trying to hit Joel.
You can see when Joel gets stabbed as he uses his body to push the bandit into the tree.
I look forward the most to Voss’ analysis after every single episode of TLOU now. Before it was House of the Drago😂😂 Please keep doing this amazing work VOSS!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
OK, the white rabbits being the daughters and the innocence theme is a little bit of a stretch, but you're so damn cute I'll buy it.
I was just looking for this. I feel like my mind was read
same lmao 😂
Ive been waiting all day lol
I really liked that they added elements from Part 2 to this episode.
Marilyn and Leonard from Northern Exposure!!
So good to see Rutina Wesley outside True Blood.
Pedro Pascal was perfect for this role. He was amazing in narcos too.
And game of thrones and mandalorian and everything
I loved him as penã 😅. That's is forever what I call him when I see him now. 😂
I love how you mentioned all the emotional stuffs that most people couldn't caught. Giving you my very rare thumbs up cause I ady subscribed! See you on the rest of the episodes!
This program is so good, I've not played the games so for me it feels really original. Can't wait for the next episode
This episode was AWESOME
I used to go to school in that Castle-looking building. It's called Heritage Hall and is located on the SAIT campus in Calgary. I once shot a short film in that building myself. :)
Also, the small blue dot beside Los Angeles (on the Firefly map), is Santa Barbara🔥 What a great nod to TLOU Part 2 fans 🔥
3:17 that is possibly a charango, a similar instrument to guitar, but natively peruvian, with more strings, and constructed with the shell of an armadillo. it’s a fascinating, beautiful instrument.
Pedro has range from days. Prince Oberyn to Mando to Joel. Insane!!!
I felt that. When you said Joel could have been a Grand Father.
#4 is goofy as hell. He had a panic attack because he was just told his brother is probably dead and the road ahead is almost impossible. Not because of rabbits 🤦♀️
Now this was an emotional episode for sure
I feel bad because when Graham Green came on I was like “omg Billy Clearwater of the Twilight franchise”
Same!!!
And Riverdale
Wind River is a great film.
My favorite game translation is how the characters organically get weapon upgrades throughout their journey
As a diehard fan of Northern Exposure it was so awesome to see “Marylin” and “Leonard” 🥰
YES!!!!!!!! NO ONE else, on any channel I watch, mentioned this!!!!!!!
@@lesliemisaacs 😁
The part where Joel explains football was in the game as they entered the campus of ECU.
I just wanna say I think Joel is having more of an anxiety attack than a panic attack. His attacks are short but intense and it looks like maybe a heart racing thing is happening and a lack of breath and he says that its when all the fear rises up in him, aka the anxiety. Most panic attacks are longer than that, more intense and usually follow behind an untreated anxiety attack. I just wanted to mention this because I just imagine there will be a moment when his anxiety attack becomes a full on panic attack. And like how Ellie asked if he was dying when he had the first one, i feel that is foreshadowing to a full on panic attack cause most of the time, that is the biggest feeling you will have during one, you feel like you are dying.
Also, I am not like a doctor, I just have far too much experience with my own anxiety and panic attacks so its just easy to recognize and understand.
This episode made me extra happy they cast Sarah to look nothing like Ellie because in the game since they used similar character models because *practicality, it was easy to write off some of the fatherly vibes as Ellie looks somewhat like Sarah but having them be completely different in appearance doesn't make the connection feel cheap
12:00 i think that says rob’s fav
2:20 you are digging to deep the couple just told Joel that his brother could be dead
I thought the same too. The two white rabbits symbolizing Sarah and Ellie and him being the bleeding deer, is kind of a stretch. Who in heavens name would make that connection??? Lol
Love Voss’s reviews though!!!

At the bottom corner of the corkboard is "Hocus Pocus" with a witch flying above it.
graham greene scene partner, marilyn from northern exposure. also in (sherman alexie) smoke signals in one of the funnest characters ever, always drives with car in reverse trying to go backwards in time...
You missed that college is clearly based on the Colorado State University Rams. Located on i25. Fun fact: they are called the Rams but their logo and mascot is a Rambouillet sheep.
In real life that was actually 2 different campuses in Calgary, SAIT (the older building) & Mount Royal University
Fun fact about the last 10 minutes:
They filmed at my university, did it all in 1 day, was insane
Where's that?
It actually explains a lot because they left out a ton of important details of the hospital chapter
Outstanding performances in this episode...
Strong parallels to Shogun Assassin at the end, where Itto is hurt and Daigoro has to care for him and nurse him back to health.
I was wondering why Graham Greene sounded familiar, so I googled him, and he sounds familiar because he voiced rains fall in red dead redemption 2
He's in a ton of films and series.
Dance With Wolves, bruh.
@@arcturionblade1077 Yeah I know he’s in that. But I recently played the red dead campaign, in which he plays a character, so I wanted to double check that it’s him.
Nice Segway to the jacket
Segway is the two wheeled balance scooter, segue is the term you mean. 👍🙂
Btw if you find yourself with a stab wound and the item is still in you DO NOT PULL IT OUT until you have a doctor there to stop the bleeding, stabilize the item then pack the wound.
okay i am a xgen how do i do that??
I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALL DAY
We know how old Joel is bc of the remake! His passport that he gives in episode 1. Love the series
3:28 this is all I could think of 😂
Fun fact Jackson Hole doesnt have a mall. The closest mall is in Idaho Falls, Idaho about an hour and a half away. So I can see why the mom didnt want to take to the mall. Many familes do weekend excursions to Idaho Falls.
lol about the law breaking - there's other options besides jail and death penalty for breaking laws. i'd imagine there's some sort of restorative justice for people in the commune.
I think that was Rob’s Fave, lol Rolo
I feel like Ellie's line " oh sh*t, congrats.", is a line that Rutina Wesley used in True Blood as Tara. The way it's delivered is VERY Tara-like... nasty and sarcastic. I want to say likely something in reference to Sookie & Vampire Bill's relationship.
The two rabbits representing the girls was a stretch. Lol But I respect it.
Channel is built on stretches
@@DatBoiChris420 I agree. It’s comical at times. But I appreciate the creative perspective
@@DeagleGamesTV where was this?
Another good episode. Staying on track. Excellent
I’m all for symbolism and stuff, but if you’re telling me Joel’s panic attack was triggered by metaphors and symbolism - GTFOH lol 😂
I think he was more worried about his brother's safety and his and ellie's own safety in getting further after what they said
I loved the 'Northern Exposure' reunion!
That Seattle Easter egg on the map gave me chills!! TLOU2
I’m gonna call my friend Rob, Rolo from now on
18:49 thats the scene thats really gonna get us
Kinda upset that Joel made it Ellie decision unlike in the game where Joel took responsibility and accepted himself as the father figure. Thought it would have been a better conclusion to his internal struggle with taking responsibility.
Yeah they changed a few things. In fact this never came up in the game at all.
12:00 prettyy sure it’s ‘Robs’ not ‘Rolos’ 😂😂
Pedro is such an amazing actor!!
Actually you don’t pull objects out, if you’re able to lay down and remain still. And wait for ambulance or professionals to come and patch you up. If you have to mount a horse, ride said horse, and not remain still. You’re better off pulling the object out. As it’ll do more damage internally due to the movement.
You can actually see the moment the baseball bat broke as the hunter swung and missed, then used that broken sharp end to stab Joel.
did he die?!!
@@ainzstainton9766No he doesn’t die don’t worry
Oh wait was that a baseball bat. I thought it was a knife or dagger of some kind. So he might still be ok.
A few of these points are a little off, as they're just taking dialogue from the gameplay conversations rather than the cutscenes. Such as the "I wanted to be a singer" being a direct conversation from them riding through the university, along with others.
Wind River is an awesome movie. Renner and Olsen did an amazing job in that movie. That movie should be more popular than it is.
love video but got to say, insane that @12:00 you jump to the name Rolo instead of Rob
Sad he didnt fall of the building like the game but that was unrealistic so it kinda makes sense
They set up a ton of stuff for season 2
that Huckberry jacket is nice, but if y'all ever get a promo deal with the company that makes the jacket Joel wears in this episode, you better drop that link in the description!
did u see crews in that bridge scene
and the horse at the end dont move
Seeing Joel and Ellie horseback riding reminds me of Rooster and Lil Mattie 🤠
At 6:03 what it just me but I really thought that one of the guys on the horse was a cameo of Troy Baker? I noticed this the first time i saw it but i dont see anyone mentioning it
8:08 im super sure thats Troy Baker
