Zenith's my favorite brand. No one cares, for the most part, but that honestly just affirms my feelings for it. I never question if I'm being influenced by popularity on social media, etc. And when I particularly like a model, I don't question whether I like it because of an industry trend, and so on.
I have three, and not a single one of them involved thinking about how much someone else would value it. Each one has some sort of quirk that makes it unique and/or personal to myself.

I'm also a lover of fine automobiles, there's a lot of car companies out there but in the yr I started collecting watches there's way more watch brands. I believe Zenith powered Daytona up to around 2000. My first yr I bought lots of watches based on look, I'm becoming more discerning about my choices from here on out & Zenith will be a watch on my radar going forward.

Hey Tony - great video many thanks. I love my Zenith pilot 48mm as it holds such wrist presence. I had to sell my el primero as I found it was hard for me to tell the time (the legibility was just not right for me unfortunately), but I love the brand and would definitely love to buy another one in the future if I see one that catches my eye. Thanks again for your channel mate, its my first watch on Saturday when I wake up in Hong Kong 👍👌👌

    Damm Tony,
I was writing a question last Friday. I was asking if I could do a Zenith review that you would share next Friday. But got busy and put if off, knowing I would do it today. You beat me to the punch. So here it is.
Zenith, I was on a transatlantic cruise from barcelona to miami in november. On this ship, they had several luxury watch brands for sale , pre owned Rolex, Cartier, Piget, Bulgari, Brightling tag, and some Zenith's.
Cool, I've been looking for the new Speedmaster Anniversary that just caught my eye hard, but couldn't find one on this trip. Looked in Barcelona, some stops in Portugal, the Azora Islands. Bruimuda in Grand Cayman, none of them had it.
On the ship I loved many of there watches , but in my budget for this trip was a Breitling Superocean and Zenith Defy. Both cool watches. I had nothing but time and did my internet searching and found comparable prices, and I found out about Zenith, which I really didn't know too much about. What a cool history and 100% first class quality watch maker. Very few of my Zenith was for sale in the US, only five that I found. So I set my price and started to negotiate seriously. Ended up buying it? And what I think was a fair price, the problem was it was a little too small for me and they had no links or a way to change them. I live by Miami and there was twos in it. Boutiques, one in miami and one in palm beach, neither of them had links one of them didn't have a watchmaker to change the links. Their main distributor was in new york or new jersey, and I contacted them, and this is where my story starts.
A real person at Zenith answered the phone when I called. She was very nice. I explained my situation. I bought it on a boat, and they didn't have any links, she transferred me to their parts department, I left the message and later that day, a human being called me back, which I missed the call and I connected with him the following day and again explained my situation. The man was so cool and understanding and just a nice person. And let me know that they didn't have any. And they're expecting a shipment from overseas which would be switzerland that should arrive in a couple of weeks,
And let me know that they didn't have any. And they're expecting a shipment from overseas which would be Switzerland that should arrive in a couple of weeks. The watch came with a metal in a rubber bracelet. Both of them too small for me,I could wear them but after an hour it had to come off.
So I ordered 2 links and asked if they had a longer rubber strap when she said they were available.
    I ordered them.
The links were reasonable and the strap was expensive, but with proprietary straps that's expected.
I don't feel should say , but let me say they treated me like long time heavy spending customer. But i'm just some charlie brown lunch bucket guy who bought a watch on a trip, and was treated as royalty.
So I just can't praise this company enough to show how well I was treated.
Look at Zenith people, you well not be disappointed.
    Thanks Tony!
Hopefully this New Year brings much success in god, please less pain for the both of us.
    Sorry for the long post

Watched this video intently because I wanted to know why you love Zenith.
I love the stories of pretty much all brands (because its often a massive commitment to start a watch brand), although it's all about the watch (not the history) for me. The history is obviously necessary to get to the point at which they make the watch though.
Best way I can explain that is that I really do not care which watch was first to Everest, but that whole thing led to me having the Rolex's that I have.

I love Zenith. Very underrated brand. I like how you're showing the viewers the history of Zenith. I believe also, they created the first sports integrated sports watch in 1969 with their Defy line, which I believe AP and others stole that design.

@@talkingtimepieceswithtony Hahaha. It was 0:59 when you said about being a fan of certain brands saying "which I am" but went silent for Omega 😂
I know you probably didn't mean it that way but it made me laugh.
Yeah, the Omega thing is difficult.
It's one of the brands I remember being in jewellery shop windows as a kid.
I also used to work in an Omega AD so have handled a lot of Omega's and met a lot of Omega guys/been on courses, and basically have a lot of respect for the brand.
Only really like the Planet Oceans enough to purchase so there are a lot that I would not (even with 40% staff discount) buy.
Hope that makes sense. Seiko (Corp.) and Casio are my next favourite brands, but Rolex are my fave watches.
Think you sold all of yours and believe at least one other watch RUclipsr has done the same.

I think Zenith had more oldschool style chronometry prizes than anyone. Might be mistaken but it's an underrated brand for sure. I commented on another channel about Jaquet Droz and Gallet...also underrated and somewhat forgotten brands. In a way that makes them cooler though. If you look into the history of some brands there are far more than a holy trinity of watchmakers

Great vid Tony, very interesting, thank you 👍🏻. As I've said before in a Q&A, I've tried on & really like the Zenith Defy Skyline Chronograph, the Chronomaster Sport (white dial) & the Chronomaster Original El Primero 38mm (which is currently on sale here in the UK with 30% off) & would have probably pulled the trigger on one over the Xmas period if it wasnt for getting 'the call' for the 2nd time this year & picked up my 36mm Explorer two days before Xmas Day 🥳 which i think goes very well with my Sub (no date) i picked up in Jan. Still think i have room for a Zenith in the collection but hard to decide which one, at least they're available here on 0% finance so its nice to spread the cost over up to 3 years. Out of interest, which of the 3x Zenith's I've mentioned would you go for? Thanks again Tony for the consistent great content, one of the best watch channels on RUclips 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    • @drtim75
      @drtim75 4 дня назад +1

I had both and love both JLC and Zenith but I personally think the chronomaster sport feels and looks much nicer and refined than the Polaris. However, I have huge wrists and 41mm with a ceramic bezel (wears a bit smaller) was too small for my 8.5" wrists and the 42mm Polaris wears a little bigger so for me, I kept my Polaris and not the chronomaster sport but I loved that watch. If size is not an issue as they really are close, both are great but I think the Zenith would be my preference. Good luck with your decision.

    • @EdwardViaTomato
      @EdwardViaTomato 4 дня назад +1

Those are two incredible choices, and I'd certainly want to figure out how to have both, eventually. I figure if you have a fairly versatile watch already, but not something really nice and sporty, the Polaris might be good. If you have something sporty (like a nice diver), the Chronomaster.
Or if you have a really nice dark dial, the silver Chronomaster Sport is super sharp, and seems to be quite the "strap monster". If you have a really nice silver/white dial, the Polaris is a fantastic pick in grey/blue/green.

The only way to know if someone knows anything about watches is to talk to them.

Hey Tony, In his last episode, Federico from Federico Talks said that the current generation of Zenith Pilot is very boring, and people don't like it that much anymore. From my point of view, it's an amazing watch, and I have it on my radar as a next purchase. So, what do you think about Federico's statement, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks ...

    • @talkingtimepieceswithtony
      @talkingtimepieceswithtony  4 дня назад +3

You should definitely check out the Pilot.
I think Fed has his opinion and is entitled to it. Although, for him to say nobody bought it, as well as it was a hype watch when it came out is just him throwing a low blow. Keep in mind, he sells watches, so he would rather have you purchase from him. His sales tactics are as slimy as a lot of other RUclipsrs. I’ve done business with him a few years ago. He was a nice guy and humble at one point. Now his ego runs the show.

Fed really did an injustice to the Zenith Pilot. It’s really a great piece. For me, I wear it far more than my explorer and it dominates a lot of wrist time in general from my collection. It’s a watch that I come back to often … can’t say that about many, especially after a year of ownership.

A £5500.00 quartz SpeedMaster Pro. is about as 'I know something about watches' as it gets IMO.
Completely bypassing the whole Mechanical space/moon sadness.
Actually in space right now and I am 100% sure I will never see anyone else wearing one...... But if I do I will buy him a beer and we are having a chat 😈
Nobody ever walked past an Omega AD and saw an X33 in the window and thought ''ll'll buy that'.
    Very possibly a Zenith though ; )
    Just Saying.
I was at an Omega training thing and the X33 was the only watch the Omega trainers commented on.

Would you love Zenith as much if they were not an 'underdog'?
People say they should be more popular, but it also seems they would not actually like that 🤷‍♂
Not sure that thing about 'knowing watches' is really true.
Same could be said of a lot of brands, and all it really means is the wearer made a choice.
Why does anyone care if people think they 'know about watches'?
If people care that much, then they probably bought it to look like they know because they heard someone say that would give that impression.
Helm would probably make a bigger impression in that way because they are so hard to get.
