That's a big job hope you get it sorted mate 😍
Hi Johnnyboy
Hope you and Alison are well?
Not good that decking it looks like the sub structure has expanded( a guess ), a bit and cheap as chips composite has been used ? A lesson for us all then mate when buying it ? Good on you for going out that early mate and helping him out 👍 very good ethics and a credit to our industry you are 👍👍 keep safe and have a good week 👍🙏
Hi John mate, it is the composite for sure the frame seems ok. Its such a shame that the client could not get hold of them. Hope your well mate?
Credit to you for getting up and travelling all that way and taking time out form your busy schedule to go help someone out brilliant mate we need more like you. Awful product by the way and its not fit for purpose. Just goes to show how careful we all need to be in choosing these products for our clients.
Well done mate fairplay.
Justin 👍
Thanks Justin mate x
You deserved that my friend 🤣💯 hope your all well
Justin 👍
Would love to see a video of you comparing the different products on the market for decking and then giving your recommendation at the end. Could do Timber, Iro, Composite etc
Great suggestion!
Ouch! Feel for everyone in that situation....
I know
Hi johnny, the only suggestion i would make for anybody wanting to install composite decking, is you have to get the framework 110% spot on. Any little dips / bends in the timber joists ( If you choose to use a timber frame ) shows up big style. 👍👍
Spot on Mark
You can buy composite boards for the step. If you use the the T & G board for a step cut the tongue off and use that side. You need gaps on the lengh for expansion but if the boards are cut at random lengths then the gaps are going to exspand at random sizes as well. They probably had very little waste that's how some contractors work, profit over quality.
Cheers
😍
What’s your view, if we are installing a glass awning, can we porcelain patio up to the same level as the house lounge floor under the awning as no rain will get to this area ? Or also belt and braces fit a drain between the too, looking for that seamless flow house to outside ?
There are lots of linear drainage systems but as long as you don’t bridge the damp course your be fine
@@GreentopLandscapes nice to see so many welsh craftsmen on u tube, and so helpful, thanks for the advice and keep the content coming,
Hi question not related to your video. I've just on with an anthracite porcelain patio and it's just a nightmare to keep clean. It's going light grey and hard work pressure washing it as once it's wet you can't see where you need to pressure wash it. What you recommend doing I haven't grouted it yet but once that's done does it need sealing? Thanks Jordan
Send us a picture Jordan
@@GreentopLandscapes can I send photos on here
@@jordanlamb6102 no, you'll need to visit Johnny's website and send them to the listed email address mate 👍
I'm after a composite decking for mine in a few weeks, seeing videos like this gives me the jitters. Any reputable brands out there that will be safe? I'm based in south Wales and will likely be doing it ourselves
Made me reconsider using timber again after seeing this!
happy to talk to you guys
Stay clear
How long has that decking been down?
Over a year I think
do you sleep Johnny lol 🤣🤣🤣
with all the products that are coming in and cheap etc
Is there products you recommended to use for composite mate
Lol
Lots out there Matty mate only time will tell with some
Sure will mate down side they’ll be more of these situations.. got few suppliers but not overly convinced myself on composite especially when in the sun a lot
You gotta be mad to have 4 terriers 😍😂
40sqm of softwood decking ,shaped on one side ie semi circle ,what would be a rough estimate materials and labour anybody?
3k
Its difficult Steve to say mate
@@davebarrow2194 been quoted 3800 ,2000 labour 1800 materials
Oh god you were round corner to my house. Id of made you a coffee and am a landscaper myself
We will be up there working soon Gareth mate a coffee it is mate.
@@GreentopLandscapes let me know the dates and i will come for drink and chin wag.
Nice Johnny, Its easy to slag others work, but your choice of words was first class, common sense coments #####
I agree Bud not a good thing to do
Are you allowed to mention the brand that has been fitted? From some of your film and based on selling comp decking for 4 years I would say installation is a very big issue here. Some of the staggered joints look awful
Theres a lot to this story so best not I think it would not be fair
@@GreentopLandscapes understand. Still too many dodgy landscapers out there due to general public being too trustworthy
Looks shocking
It is mate
Unsuitable product. It does move. The clipping system very weak. Not suitable for steps like that. Install not that bad. High temperature combined with movement and yo get what you see. Very expensive mistake.
In my opinion, composite decking is massively over priced and it's been overly hyped up. Alot of contractors build the framework with 400mm centers when it should be 300mm instead now because of the amount the composite expands and twists, and if you don't do it at 300mm, the decking companies won't guarantee it and some composites even twist and expands more than wood, color also fades over time and there's nothing much you can do about it to make it look nice again, it looks cheap and nasty once faded. I would go with wood over composite and it's more than half the price, or go with nice paving.
I have to say your opinions are valid and I am always worried if and when I choose it. Thank you for your feedback
Maybe contractor has gone pop mate.
May be
Just wish you would show more videos of you working than talking all the way through in your videos please.
Not got a camera man sorry
Sorry mate but that installation was shocking. Who was it Stevie Wonder?
lmao
@@GreentopLandscapes Appreciate that you were being polite. That was terrible workmanship. They ripped him off, unfortunately.
