Your point about the auto start/stop is valid, but, there's a bit of an explanation about the early off you're seeing. In Eco mode, the car will turn off the engine at around 5 kph or 3 mph. In comfort mode, it won't turn off the engine until you come to a full stop. If I'm coming to an intersection where I know I'll need to go almost immediately, I'll move the gear selector to manual mode until I start accelerating, as it won't turn off in manual mode.
We'll have to test this out next week! We've got the 2019 Volvo XC40 R-Design. We did keep the car in Eco mode most of the time, but not always, but we'll do some additional testing with the XC40 (assuming it has the same setup).
@@PRNTestDrive The r-design I test drove this weekend had a button behind the start engine that said (A) next to the electronic park. The dealer told me to push it and when I did the auto start/stop stayed off permanently between modes, the car being on and off and so on. I don't know if that's maybe missing from the Momentum, that you can click it, but I see the button in the video :-) Edit: The (A) definitely turns off start stop. The feature of clicking it was introduced in the 2018 S60 and is now start in all 2019 XC90's. Click it and start stop is off until you click it back on.

HI thanks for a great review! My husband is 6'4 and I am 5'1-so making sure the car I select can fit him. It would be my primary car but of course he uses it from time to time to haul things. Back seat head clearance I think is going to be an issue. I have a Chevy Traverse now but am looking to upgrade-seat and head restraint comfort being my top research. My biggest issue I have is the head restraint/seat comfort. With my Traverse, I have to put a back pillow so that it pulls my body and head away from the head restraint otherwise by design of the seat and head restraint as many other vehicles, I would drive in a concave configuration. I think it has everything to do with the fact that when you are short, where my head hits the head restraint just doesn't line up well. For long distance driving-without the pillow, I would be in severe pain. The lumbar on my Chevy seems a bit sad-not really a lumbar support I think it should be.Im short and have neck issues which with the US (as I am sure Canada has) that the new head restraint designs have caused issues with some drivers and also short people. SUVs I think are not built with short people in mind. I wish reviews would also include a slightly more in depth comfort review (head restraints and their adjustments, as well as the some of the seat and lumbar features). Maybe throw a short person in there too for a short person perspective..HAHHAHA
There isn't much comfort when it comes to these head rests in today's cars unfortunately. Most of them are just there to prevent your neck from snapping backwards in the event of an accident, and nothing more.
Nile, I am rewatching this review. I have exactly the same feeling about the BMW engine start/stop. As you approaching the stop sign, it decided to cut off the engine, then if needs to start again right away because you clear the stop sign and started to accelerate. Extremely annoying in residential streets with stop sign at every intersection....
It's the worst feeling on the road, I know some other vehicles I've driven recently do it, normally in eco mode though. I'm picking up a 2020 XC90 T8 this week but the PHEV system thankfully eliminates this problem.
Most people consider the Audi Q7 3.0T to be the T6 XC90's main competitor as opposed to the Mercedes GLE or BMW X5, which don't have a 3rd row as standard. The T5 XC90's are even less equipped than this T6 Momentum (FWD only, no 3rd row option, no standard digital drivers display, etc.). A well equipped T6 XC90 in either the R-Design or Inscription trims, offers so much more standard safety and technology features than a comparably equipped Q7. Audi, like most European luxury carmakers, continues to financially sodomize buyers with overpriced option packages. Audi forces you to buy the top trim Q7 Prestige just to have the still non-standard option of adaptive air suspension, full drivers assistance packages, and top tier surround sound audio system. You know that most manufacturers release their next model year at the start of fall, September typically. Some manufacturers even start at the beginning of the previous year, some examples of that we’ve driven include the 2019 RAM 1500 which launched in March 2018, and the 2021 Kia Seltos which we drove in July of this year.

Aside from those B-Roll clips that I had a disclaimer for, you can watch any of our episodes and our driving segments demonstrate a proper stop at a stop sign. It seems to be a lost art, as no one stops anymore.
Oh! Now that is a tough question. Personally I'd take the Buick, that Enclave was a seriously nice vehicle, and we always notice the Avenirs on the road when we see them.
I feel that Volvo is ahead of the industry on this, the trend has been moving towards smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles for the past decade now. They might have the right formula if their twin-charge setup ends up being reliable down the road.
Hi - any comments on the long term reliability (10-15 years) of this car in the North American market. I very much love this car, had a test drive at a dealership recently. However, there seem to be mixed reviews on how reliable this car is. I am conflicted between this and the highest trim of the Honda Pilot (I know it's a different class), but have the Pilot seems to be more reliable investment.
Long term reliability is certainly an important factor we’d love to investigate. If you watch our episode on the XC40 we ended up having some problems with it. I believe Volvo sits in last place on Consumer Reports’ reliability list, though we see a lot of XC90s now and people absolutely love them.
Please automotive manufacturers design auto stop start so that when you turn it off, it stays off untill you turn it back on again!! Even when you turn the vehicle on again.
We'd definitely like to see a change for this too. BMW is one of the few that have a persistent setting, once you turn it off it's off until you manually enable it again.
Nobody is buying one of these cars “in case people come in from out of town”. They are for large families. As such, the main requirements for the third row is that the seats are easy to get up and down, durable, comfortable and that there is no useless equipment back there that a 6 year old would easily break. Headroom for 6ft people is of tertiary importance. I feel the review was critical because the space met these criteria. It would be more useful to kick the rear seats for 20 mins to see if they scuff.
If you're going to say that nobody is buying them I hope you'd have some sales data to back that up. Most of the XC90s I see on the road have one occupant in it, and a vehicle like this would be high on my list despite having a family of 3.
It's 8:25pm. I'm chatting from Ogun state, Nigeria. I'm watching and admiring Volvo 2019 because I'm using Volvo XC90 2005. I discovered it's a very strong car, though my own is older and has started disturbing my movement. However, I enjoyed it. Thanks I am a pastor I don't have money to change my car now. If the Lord God touches your heart please help me. Thanks. God bless you all. Rev Dr Abu Richard Animpuye. Assemblies of God pastor..
I had to skip through most of that video, but it doesn't change anything. Whether you setup the Individual preferences to disable the auto stop/start you'll still have to switch it into Individual mode each time you start the car, just as you would the auto stop/start disable button.
Dude, u review of this car are much better than a lot of other reviewers.

I feel that Volvo is ahead of the industry on this, the trend has been moving towards smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles for the past decade now. They might have the right formula if their twin-charge setup ends up being reliable down the road.
Good 👍
Thanks!

Hope it works out for you!
You can deactivate the start/stop function : ruclips.net/video/uk9OMtoYSxs/видео.html
I had to skip through most of that video, but it doesn't change anything. Whether you setup the Individual preferences to disable the auto stop/start you'll still have to switch it into Individual mode each time you start the car, just as you would the auto stop/start disable button.
