In fact, buying a higher end Moto G like the 2023 G Stylus 5G, or the Moto Edge/Edge+ is more akin to buying a Nexus than buying a Pixel is

I remember owning a 6P for a while. Had a few months before I had to get a replacement. Luckily they traded me up to a Pixel 1 XL. The 6P was a really nice phone but it didn't feel balanced to me and started to have a slight bend by the volume buttons. Great camera and great performance
This was my first android after I finally acknowledged the Windows Phone ship had sunk. What a beast, absolutely rhe best choice i could've made. It eventually stopped autofocusing which was weird but hell, it was like 3 years after buying it so i wont complain
I used this for almost 4 years. Got boot loop in my 2nd year and thankfully bought extended warranty so it was repaired for free. Finally had to buy new phone when the charger port was giving too much problem and Huawei don't have parts anymore to repair it.
After I heard - Snapdragon 810 , I knew it is going to be bad. It was just after Snapdragon 808 hit the market and both - 808 and 810 had thermal issues in every phone they were inside. I wanted Nexus phones due to updates , as getting a new os update meant - buying a new phone , I think they kinda looked iPhone-ish , not really sure if that was how I thought about them , but the lack of expandable storage on later ones felt like letdown. I still think that front firing speakers are good thing , especially if watching / listening something and adding a slit under the screen , like they do at the top isn't hard feature to achieve , only gaming phone segment has them. But I don't like their looks and they try to be mobiles and handhelds at the same time , but fail usually in both.
5:30 5x doesn't have dual front facing speakers, only the bottom speaker grill was utilized as a speaker, the top grill is only used as an earpiece. Both the 6 and the 6P do have dual front facing speakers tho :D
I loved my Moto Nexus 6, I must be in the minority going by this video, but I love the design. I also like the 6P but never got one sadly. I got to test it out when I worked at EE at the time it was released. I won't lie the 6P's design has aged well, but I like the 6 just that little bit more.

I feel like you're underrating the camera slightly. This was the first camera Google shipped that really started to pull ahead of the iPhone. It basically had night sight before Google started calling it that. You had to hold the phone steady for 3 seconds or so and the pictures took another 5 seconds to process but what you got looked incredible. I'm looking at pictures I took on it in Bangkok in November 2015 next to what my wife took on her iPhone 6s and the 6P's pictures look an full generation ahead of what the iPhone could do at the time.
Speaking on the square app icons with a useless white background, I really miss when Android icons were just the shape of the app. The phone was just a phone, no square or circle around it, twitter was just the bird, play store just the bag, etc. and while I'm on a tangent, I miss the ticker along the top for notifications instead of the banners that come down now.
i still have mine. still a little bit useful on emergency. battery definitely degraded. i can use it for like 2 hours 3 hours max. imo still one of the best phones ive ever had
Nexus 6p was easily my favorite nexus phone. Battery life was abysmal, but i was able to change the battery (awful process btw) and that gave it a second life.
Seeing this phone always reminds me of Pokemon Go. Beck when it first came out, they showed the game on the 6P and the 5X. The 6P had a really nice build and felt super sleek in the hand although on the larger side. The only issue for me was that the battery on mine, since the first day was never a full day battery and it got really hot very often. It only got worse after a year. Loved using it tho cause the software was so clean 👌

Exynos is what kept the S6 from being near unusable that year lol, Android Snapdragon phones that gen suffered a bunch of issues. I think the only phone that didn't was the Lumia 950 probably because they ran Windows Phone lol
One other thing…Nexus phones were never flagship phones and barely premium. Their intended purpose was to be a developer phone, not meant for general use. I understood that, especially with the Galaxy Nexus, 4, and 5X.
They were never consistent. Google 100% intended the Moto Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P to be flagships but the LG Nexus phones were more developer focused. I think people forget the super budget but good specs deal only ever really was a thing with the LG Nexus phones.
I had the 6P from January 2016 to June 2017. I started getting the early shutdown issue in early 2017, and my phone would inexplicably shut down at as much as 40% battery sometimes, then say it didn't have enough power to turn on. Wtf? I sold it on eBay in June 2017 and got the Galaxy S8+, which was much more reliable. I did like the smoothness of the stock Android experience on the 6P compared to the occasional jank of Samsung Experience on the S8+, though. My 6P also tended to get hot easily, which was probably because of the Snapdragon 810's thermal issues. I joined that class-action lawsuit and got $425 out of it, which I was ecstatic about. It's unfortunate that such a thing probably isn't even possible anymore because of Google's forced arbitration agreements they push on customers, so they can't even push a class-action lawsuit if something like this were to happen again on one of the modern Pixel models.
I still have a Nexus 6, 6P and Pixel 4XL in my bottom drawer and all as new, bought brand new here in the UK and still work as they should (the N6 battery doesn't last more than a few days now unfortunately and less than a day if being used). Still absolutely love that phone and IMO one of the best ever made. The 4XL is faultless and I still use it for the camera. The pictures are still stunning. My main driver is my S24U or Pixel Fold...

I really miss the nexus line of phones. I never missed the software updates on any devices since the software updates ended up being detrimental to how the phone operates and works because the phone operates and works better before any software updates have applied. When doing software updates, it even says that updates can't be reverted back. App updates can be reverted back to the most reliable and stable versions in case something goes wrong with the app updates or the apps but the same thing can't be said about software updates in case something goes wrong with the software updates or something related to the software after an update has already happened. I have devices that last way longer than any devices that receives software updates. It's not like the apps stops working completely or any features from the apps are no longer being supported being affected by not doing any software updates. With software updates, certain apps have been updated and not all apps have been updated by the developers. Software updates even remove features that were still being used or had useful features that the consumers were still using. Software updates can be manipulated on purpose in order to sell something new when something new comes along the way as some form of replacement for the previous or older models. For example, the spotify car thing are being bricked with software updates and even bluetooth audio devices like headphones and earbuds can be manipulated by software updates to make the experience worse and than a newer model comes out and more people gravitate to something newer because the previous model does not work reliably or is completely broken or even bricked. There is no law against planned obsolescence and force arbitration since it's already included in the terms and conditions. Planned obsolescence and force arbitration has become normalized even though people complain about not like what is happening but it gets swept under the rug because everyone is doing it.
It's crazy to think that my 2023 Moto G Stylus 5G that i paid less than $300 comes double the RAM out of the box & it even has a "performance" feature that let's you convert up to 6 more gigs of it's 256gb of internal storage into usable RAM. I'm not the first person to say this, but i think the real innovation of 2020's era smartphones actually lies with what manufacturers have been able to do with "mid-range" smartphones. I would even say that even though the Nexus 6/6P were trying to compete with the flagship phones of Samsung, HTC, Sony & Apple, they actually laid the ground work for usable mid-rangers, as before about 2016-2018, a $270 smartphone would look & perform more like a $60 Walmart special of today
That's just swap they literally just included swap as a feature. It's a standard Linux feature (Android runs the Linux kernel) but I'd would never recommend using swap on flash storage
I had so many battery issues with this thing during my two years of ownership that I was happy to get rid of it for a OnePlus 6, but I'd be lying if it didn't feel like a solid piece of hardware when it actually worked.
square icons is a stock android thing. Pixel XL runs Pixel ui not stock android. and the swipe to open app draw is not a thing with google now launcher, witch is used by the Nexus 6P. Dark mode is only on Galaxys. Nexus 6P has the stock android Navigation bar. aslo the Task viewer is the stock android one as i used stock android 9 and it had that carosel viewer
I thankfully never had the bootlooping issue, but i did get hit with the bad battery. I could only keep it on while plugged in so what did I do for a while? I got a big ass external battery pack case that would just "charge" the phone. I still miss the rear finger reader, which later got the swipe function that let you pull down the notification bar or pull up the app drawer.
I like mine, but after just 14 months the battery died without a proper replacement so I bought the Pixel 2 XL. Not a big jump at all, but what can you do.
Using the Nexus 6P in 2024? I can't. Mine's dead because of boot looping. It basically died when it was 2. Went to Google who sold me the phone, they said not their problem and said go to Huawei who said not their problem, speak to Google. Neither helped so I went to a third party, they couldn't fixed it. Loved the phone and Android, but to date it's the last Android phone I owned. Went iPhone after that
That apparently only is a temporary fix as the solder under the little cores will eventually crack too. Even before that happens using the phone with only the little cores is an exercise in futility. I only flashed the core disabler to make a final backup of my data and it was atrocious.
This was a great phone, until I got the boot loop issue. It ended up working out because when I called Google for support they replaced it with the first Pixel XL.
I just threw mine out. I had replaced the battery and the back glass with tape, it was a jumbled mess but lasted to 2020. Phones havnt got much better.
The nexus 6P was awesome but had many problems and was the reason I went to Samsung and never looked back and then eventually just went to iPhone as my daily
I had a Motorola nexus something or other back in the day and it was alright the I got an iPhone and was In awe. iPhone felt like a more expensive phone back then however androids were so much fun. Now everything is just stale.
I have to disagree about the design. The 6P looked pretty unique at the time, but I was never a huge fan of the visor. The LG design is much more to my liking. I'm talking purely about aesthetics. I've owned metal phones in the past and I certainly miss the feel.
It was the best phone that I had ever owned. But after boot looping, I had called Google for a repair. They redirected me to Huawei and then Huawei redirected me to Google. I still love the Nexus series, but that was the insane customer service. Nothing was solved in the end. I would love if Google re-released the Nexus under the Pixel line as a cheaper alternative.
That’s exactly what the A series is doofus.

Man, I love, love, LOVED my Motorola Nexus 6. Sadly, the storage has died on it and even if it could still take a charge it would run really slow. :(
I really miss the nexus line of phones.
Would love to see a video on the Nexus 9 tablet
I had one and imported it from germany, it lasted about a year until it bootlooped and I got a S8+
Started watching recently, shout-out to persona music lol
Golden era of smartphones
Hope Google need to back the Nexus series. With a snap dragon processor.... for fans.👍🏼
6:12 introduced by Sony Ericsson in the mid 2000s in their walkman series
They need to bring the Nexus line back
I think I still have it somewhere, the camera was decent but I doubt it'll be up to specs for apps.
The nexus phones looked so gorgeous, even now. Better than the latest pixels
I went from this phone to a Galaxy Edge 3... Miss the hell out of that ohne, shouldve never sold it
I thankfully never had the bootlooping issue, but i did get hit with the bad battery. I could only keep it on while plugged in so what did I do for a while? I got a big ass external battery pack case that would just "charge" the phone. I still miss the rear finger reader, which later got the swipe function that let you pull down the notification bar or pull up the app drawer.
I feel like the nexus 6p inspired the camera bar on the Pixels
I enjoyed it.
My only complaint was getting the 32gb variant especially because I was used to 512gb micro SD cards lol
512 gb micro sd card in 2015?
I like mine, but after just 14 months the battery died without a proper replacement so I bought the Pixel 2 XL. Not a big jump at all, but what can you do.
I had a battery issue after 2 years. But I ended up taking it apart and swapping out the battery and did not upgrade until the pixel 3.
This is the best phone ever!
Went iPhone after that
No play store, chrome google how am i suppose to download my apps such as whatsapp or even have a google drive?? Pls help
I suffered the bootloop issue so I don't have good memories with this one
You can disable some cores to stop bootlooping
That apparently only is a temporary fix as the solder under the little cores will eventually crack too. Even before that happens using the phone with only the little cores is an exercise in futility. I only flashed the core disabler to make a final backup of my data and it was atrocious.
This was a great phone, until I got the boot loop issue. It ended up working out because when I called Google for support they replaced it with the first Pixel XL.
Still one of the best designed phones.
Why did you leave from gsmarena ? You make great content.
I just threw mine out. I had replaced the battery and the back glass with tape, it was a jumbled mess but lasted to 2020. Phones havnt got much better.
All Nexus have circular icons, idk what you did to have square icons in your 6P
Why it was that most Nexus phones had bootlooping problems...
omagad huwi
A nexus was like a box of chocolates. never knew what you were gonna get
The nexus 6P was awesome but had many problems and was the reason I went to Samsung and never looked back and then eventually just went to iPhone as my daily
i still dont fully understand why they banned huawei products
Because they were scared that Huawei (a Chinese company) would track data from us citizens, government officials and the military
US afraid, chinese brand would dominate the smartphone there.
I actually have a huawei p20 pro and every whatsapp account connected on it are getting banned for spam even without using the account
Because they were chinese and about to be the number 1 phone manufacturer
Americans don't like competition. they put restrictions on Japan when toyota was getting popular on the 1970s
Persona music made me think this was The Comedy Review
I had a Motorola nexus something or other back in the day and it was alright the I got an iPhone and was In awe. iPhone felt like a more expensive phone back then however androids were so much fun. Now everything is just stale.
I have to disagree about the design. The 6P looked pretty unique at the time, but I was never a huge fan of the visor. The LG design is much more to my liking. I'm talking purely about aesthetics. I've owned metal phones in the past and I certainly miss the feel.
Both looks good even in today’s context
