At the time, it felt like a big pike or musky that broke the leader, but could have been a big flathead. Right before that happened, I had another bite - with both bites, there was a huge inhale - I felt the spinner get sucked back like a vaccuum. When I set the hook the second time, it felt like whatever ate it had turned and swam in the opposite direction, which is likely why it broke the wire. If I didn't set the hook at all, whatever it was probably would have hooked itself with its own momentum.
