Tying a Simple Marabou Streamer (Easy and EFFECTIVE!)

In this video I will be tying a simple marabou streamer pattern I call the "Fire Fry". This is a great pattern for beginners, and it has served me well as a search pattern. It has a very realistic baitfish appearance in the water, and the natural colors in conjunction with the bright fire tiger accents makes it a perfect pattern for both clear and stained water. That Time I Stuck with the Plan! (RARE MICHIGAN MONSTER)

After failing to catch a musky before the fall transition, I decided to scout some new waterways with some confidence lures. I quickly learned that the first spot was a gold mine. It was a tough decision, but I stuck with the plan and left to scout some other nearby spots. I was kicking myself at spot # 3, when I hit the jackpot! How to Tie a Fish-N-Fool Knot! | "Knot Easy!" Series | Fishing Knot Tutorial
This took me an hour to figure out 😔
@@Hhamsterking An hour to pick up a new skill ain’t too bad! Now you have a new skill that you can use for life
Have you tried these on a swim jig or chatterbait
@@shaunmoeller3288 I fished them on a chatter bait - my only issue is that you have to use a fairly heavy weight and a fast retrieve to keep the bait upright and swimming- it was very 1-dimensional. I haven’t used them on a swim jig, but I watched Josh Jones catch 3 bass totaling 33 lbs. in 30 minutes with that combination. If you have FFS and can find brush piles, I’d say go for it 🤙
Great tips! Sponsorships on gear and equipment would definitely go in the "positives" column. I am currently realizing the costs associated with creating a channel myself.
@@Stardusted I wouldn’t be able to do a lot of what I do without the help of sponsors. It’s all very expensive for sure!
The REAL secret to getting FREE STUFF!? ------- It ain't free. It takes hard work, dedication, respect, trust, loyalty, professionalism, humility, and a little luck. 5 years ago, I didn't know how to operate a spinning reel. 4 years later and in my second year on RUclips, I joined the pro-staff for one of my favorite companies - Rapala. I'm not special. If I can do it, ANYONE can.
Very nice!
@@tiesflies means a lot coming from the GOAT! 🐐 Thanks brotha 🤙
CANE POLE FISHING HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A WHILE. DAPPING Good Demonstration 👍🏻
Very true! Tenkara is very similar, but it took a different evolutionary path based on the needs of the anglers in the stream-covered mountainous regions of Japan. Now that it's growing in popularity both in Japan and in the Western world, it's still evolving to suit the needs of anglers in all types of regions for a variety of species. Whatever we want to call it, it's a blast fighting fish with no reel! Thank you for watching 🙏
This looks upside down. There are much easier ways to do this.
@@schloemo I’m not sure what you mean, but there are definitely a number of ways to whip finish. This is the most common way I have seen with this particular tool
sbow us thefish
@@RobertTaylor-vd2mw They’ll be appearing in a video soon!
So you damage the leader for the knot? So the pulling power from the leader goes down with this knot?
The braid will only cut into the abrasion resistant coating of the leader. I'm not sure a human is strong enough to cut deeper than that with manual force alone and regular braided fishing line. I've pulled on the knots extremely hard and haven't been able to cut deeper into the leader
@nextlevelangling okay, it looks very nice i am going to try it. Thank you for the good instruction movie💪
Why do people make a few extra wraps on a very tried and trusted knot, then claim that they've invented something new? That's a uni /grinner knot with extra wraps, jeez.
@@naasirryklief6417 you’re going to have to take it up with the guy who submitted it to the “Knot Wars” knot contest 15 years ago and named it after himself 🤷🏻♂️ In my opinion, all of these knots could potentially date back to ancient times for all we know. We all argue over knot names and how to tie them, but I’m sure a lot of them were tied by the ancient Egyptians and other ancient civilizations throughout human history
Thank you very much. great video!
@@russell7386 Thank you Russell 🤘
That flipping action is insane! Thank you for these interesting uses for these awesome lures! I have about 7 packages of different styles of these lures and have been dialing them in for Flounder and Red Drum.
My pleasure! I'm jealous that you have the chance to try them out in saltwater. Someone else commented that they were planning on trying out the 9" Panorama for tarpon and cobia 😧
@ I have a package of the 6-8” Mullets that I am sure would catch some MONSTER reds.
Good on you! He will remember this his entire life.
Just trying to make a difference where I can :] Hopefully I'll be able to do much more one day!
Great video. Thank you
Thank you for watching 🙏
Where do you get that glass rattle from?
In the long version of the video, there is a link to the rattles I used in the description of the video, but really any 3mm glass rattle will be good
having a hard time using this technique with lighter #( 15-20) mono, the mono is too supple and bends andd kinks easily. any tips?
@@skatelife2013 are you sure that it’s mono leader, and not regular monofilament fishing line? Leader material is stiffer and less supple
@@nextlevelangling it is mono fishin line an not leader.
helpful tips for people becoming tying i just start to try very funny
Great video learned some useful hacks
@@J.OKRoadrunner thank you 🙏
Plus you can tell your mom was a Chemistry Prof cuz your vocabulary and explanations are way ahead of your contemporaries.👍🍀
Its not easy with light mono with memory..
@@andrewp1998 Try running warm water over the section of the line you’re using to tie the knot, or use friction with your fingers to remove the line memory from that section. The line should be more supple and make it easier to tie the knot once the memory has been removed 👍
Thank you. Great tips on one of my favourite baits
@@kevinclement9147 my pleasure - thanks for watching! 🤙
That 9 inch bait would work great for tarpon and cobia down here on the coast in Florida.
@@Steve-ev6vx I like the way you think! I have been thinking about targeting both musky and flathead catfish with it up here in Michigan
Whoa, you are kidding right? Isn’t there a better way than in the mouth? Gotta be!
@@jimkingsland1645 oh there are definitely safer ways - you can secure the hook to a zipper, a line guide, or any stationary object. You don’t have to copy my hillbilly way of doing things 🤷🏻♂️
I'd rather fish a banjo minnow!! Baits don't need to be ultra realistic.
@@CaptDavesSportfishing haha 😂. Aside from the corny “As seen on TV” advertising, the Banjo Minnow is pretty legit! I totally agree with you though - baits don’t NEED to be ultra-realistic, but I’ve seen them make a difference in clear pressured water. I also love me an old school spoon or inline spinner though, and those aren’t even mildly realistic
Use a slip Bobber and stroll it just above weeds, it's a killer!
@@joewinkler2168 Interesting! I wonder if it would also work with an Oros strike indicator since the plastic is so buoyant. 🤔
Came for the jig, stayed for FISH GUN !!!!
@@ExpeditionAngler2 There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Eyes come off to easy
@@ChrisPulaski-l4c the eyes are painted on…
I switched to this 20 years ago and never looked back, strongest knot ever!
I might try these at Dale Hollow, now in December, Bass are chasing Alewife down deep. I’ve got a bunch but never had them rigged up right. I’m using Silver Buddy and Flutter spoon successfully so will see if these can compete.
@@jboz1435 I think you’ll definitely find success. I like to think of these baits as a finesse alternative to some of those cold water power techniques (blades, spoons, jerks). Those same techniques might be considered finesse techniques when the water is warm, but when it’s cold, those are on the faster side. The Panorama can be fished much slower, which is huge when the water gets super cold. Hit ‘em down deep with the drop shot and free rig and I bet you’ll get ‘em 🤘
@ good information, thank you.
Great hack for other baits, too.i wonder if it will stop the Z man's from melting in the pack.
@@kennethmaddox6988 if the melting occurs from a chemical reaction (I believe this is normally the case), then the clear hard plastisol shell would seal in the chemicals that are causing them to melt. However, the clear hard plastisol would reduce the flexibility and action of the baits, which is one of the things that makes the ElaZtech baits awesome. I use this hack only on problem areas of baits that frequently tear up (like the head of the Yamamoto Yamatanuki or the head of the 6th Sense Panorama), and I avoid using on areas of the bait that create the action (like a paddle tail or any flexible appendages). This being said, there are other more flexible formulas of plastisol out there that would allow for more movement. I think the best solution in your case would be to keep ElaZtech baits stored inside the original packaging - they are very effective and durable baits as long as they don’t come into contact with other non-ElaZtech soft plastics.
@nextlevelangling hmmm. I am guilty of mixing the soft plastics. It also seems heat might be a factor or at least it gets worse. I'll be downsizing to number of profiles to 3 max at a few lengths, so the Z are out due to failed hookups (should have used a stinger). They hit the tail, stretch it out and release. Thank for the follow up
Lol, I thought i was the only person who was seeing 👀 the weather like it was. Nice Monday-Friday bad weather Saturday-Sunday 😂 sone nice fish 👊🏼

I just got my hands on some of these. So this was a very helpful video. Thanks!
@@davegwiazdon8450 Happy I could help, and thank you for watching!
So nobody fishes them right side up. This is nothing new.
I've seen some underwater footage or Panorama on bladed jigs (looked pretty cool in slow motion), but I found out pretty quickly that you need a heavy weight and a fairly quick retrieve to get them to stay upright and swim, and I just think the baits are much more suited for a dying shad presentation than a live one. Sideways is definitely the way to go in my opinion, and it's also the natural orientation of a real dying/injured shad.
I put mine right side up on the mini max bladed jig using 2.8” size
I thought that this was very informative, way better than many higher sub channels. Question- hook size recommendations for the first rigging method, for 3.5” and 5” sizes?
18 alternating wraps....Meanwhile the pinky is strangulated and about to sustain deep tissue damage
RIP pinky 🪦 - we got 9 more fingers though 🤷🏻♂️

@@Stardusted winter will be the perfect time to tie em up - this pattern is perfect for the Spring 🤘
Very intriguing! May have to try that out!
@@Stardusted it’s a killer combination - one of my favorites that I’ve come up with for sure. Those switch blades can be added to a lot of lures to make some unique presentations that fish haven’t seen before
That's not bad i wasn't impressed at first but ok
@@glennplatvoet7111 Thanks Glenn! I’m a beginner tyer, this was the first pattern I put together. I caught a ton of fish with it this year! I’ll keep working on my skills 🤘
Dang, excellent video. I got some of these over the summer that hadn’t used them too much yet. Your last method looks pretty cool. It should definitely trigger some fish into biting. Looks like it’s in distress. Well done, my friend.
@@TWC6724 much appreciated! I think some people were a little upset that 6th Sense put out these great-looking baits and said “Here ya go - figure out.” Personally, it’s been fun experimenting, and I think there are more methods and tricks left to figure out 🤙
Excellent. Thank you.
@@FD-dh2fu No problem, thank you for watching!
LOVE this idea!
Those little mods and hacks can make all the difference in certain scenarios. I'm always experimenting - one of my favorite things to do!
I retied like 6 leaders trying to tie this
That’s no good! One thing I like to do when learning a new knot is to practice it repeatedly at home with some spare line before trying it out on the water. It helps to eliminate mistakes before you waste some line or worse - lose a fish
Beautiful.
