I remember going to the Mother Hubbards in Oldham as a kid! I'm 53 now so they must have been around at least 45yrs! Don't live anywhere near one these days but would definitely go back after this review!! ;)

I have lived in oldham since I was born I remember going as a kid and then it was closed for YEARS and nothing was there and then it reopened a couple of years ago in the same location
@@naffy Yeah I left Oldham almost 20 yrs ago but I have a feelin it might have already closed by then! I'll make the effort some time soon and give it another try! ;)
Just noticed the one in Oldham is called "Old" Mother Hubbards and it doesn't appear on the Mother Hubbards website!!??

Went there when it first opened in Nelson. Excellent fish & chips. Pricey but the portion size is massive - probably more than one person can handle.

I just want to pass on my commiserations and sympathy for you having to visit Nelson 😁
Down here in Dorset right next to the harbour in Poole that would cost £15. And at the same time I can get a "midweek special" from a local Indian takeaway which has two starters, two main meat curries, a side curry and poppadums for the same price. Fish has become so expensive. Excellent review as always.

I'm thrilled you went back there, the Glasgow branch that is near me is pretty poor but when i traveled to Bolton one time it was spectacular as was in Nottingham also.

Yep agree, glasgow branch is very poor. Check out Google reviews ..someone found a hair in their food and the fish was appalling on the picture

Come back to the north-east! Nobody does fish and chips quite like Tyneside.
The fish is sat on thr chips so how can the chips have a crunch.
Dine in and eat asap to get the crunch and stop waffling on and then complain thr chips are soggy
