I’m with Jim Waldron on this. G43 was made for deep concealment. Anything made to add to the magazine length just makes it more difficult to conceal. The G43 is not a pleasure to shoot. What is it? A 7 shot, highly reliable, tiny weapon that is easily concealed and won’t let you down. People that complain about slide durability with the finish are worried about the wrong things. It’s a weapon designed for one thing and it’s not meant to be pretty.
i also liked the g43 for deep concealment but when i went to get one and seen the 43 x the more i thought about it i was pretty certain i would run tarran extensions anyways and can always take out use regular mag looked closer was like an inch difference not even for 4 more rounds plus i didnt have to buy the extension this is def a tug of war argument. i think either would be a good option told my father to get the regular 43 so we can swap out lol. wanted all black one but silver is growing on me plus its super tough dont know if the black will be like the regulars glocks finish
I have the Taran Tactical base pads whaich makes the 43 9+1 runs fine and does add a whole lot of size and the extra weight in the mag balances it a bit and makes for a better drop I also have the TRL6 light . The 43x doesnt make me want to change over but thats just me.
The g43x with a shield arms 15 round steel mag is my new carry gun. The longer g43x grip is more comfortable to me, but the thinner and lighter profile of the gun, with the same exact capacity as my big g19 is actually amazing to me.
I like them both... i carry a g19. I have a 43, and have shot the 43x. They are both great. The 43x draws better and isn't that much harder to conceal. I'm not going to go sell my g43 for a g43x but i'd buy the g43x over the 43 if i didn't own one already
And next month when I receive my Shield Arms 15 round mags My G48 will have the same capacity as the 19. Great video Sootch your reviews are always so detailed. Love watching your channel.
Great video as always! As a smaller framed guy, I still love the deep concealment of my G43 with Taran mag extensions... and when my clothing isn't too light then it's a G26. I don't think the grip length of the G43x would work well for me and can't justify it when my G43 and G26 do the job just fine.
Thank you for showing the comparison of the 43 with the extension compared to the 43x. Super helpful! Also I’m sure you’re aware but S&P now makes a stock size metal mag for the 43 and 48x that holds 15. Game changer!
I just bought a G43x (Night Sight Version) - Shoots Great.....100 Rounds of Blazer Brass with no malfunctions and good tight group. Grip feels good since you can get your whole hand on it which controls recoil. Nice Carry Pistol..... Pistol in person the slid color isn't as bad as pictures or videos.....Silver Slide Grows On You
Have the 43 and 43x...... love them both. 43 for CC and 43x for CC, night stand, truck gun, boat gun. Just a great flex option if you don’t want to carry a 19.....
Magguts now has a +2 conversion, just barely larger than the original flat floor plate.... I love it.... When removing floor plates the sides of the mag body should be compressed to avoid damaging the locking lugs
This review is excellent. I'm a S&W and HK fan. The 43x is my first Glock - and I am amazed, nothing to improve here - other than maybe the same thing in .40 cal. Thanks again for the no bullshit info.
Joe Morrell Good call on a 42x. I'd love one! Sure people would ridicule, saying you can get 8, 10, or even 12 rounds of 9 in a gun almost as small as any 380. I say screw them lol! I'm all for having 10 rounds of 380 in a lightweight and easy recoiling gun like a G42 even if it had a slighly longer grip.
@@mig50cc Especially when you watch ballistic gel tests of the 42. 3.5 inches seems to be ideal for performance from a small gun. Very impressive results from the 42 IMO.
Kyser I think the point everyone is trying to make is that there’s no way the 43x is as concealable no matter what it’s wider and longer may as well carry a 19 ... and if u need more rounds carry a spare mag that’s what there there for silly.
As of today (actually yesterday), Magguts came out with a NEW replacement baseplate and spring kit. However, rather than being a +1 by only changing the spring... it is a +2 by replacing the baseplate and spring. It adds only a 1/4" to the stock baseplate. So... EIGHT +1 for the stock Glock 43.
I have a g43 and a g26, I thought the 43x was a stupid idea until I held one. Much slimmer than a 26, same length and much better grip on it than the 43 or 26. The 43xis nice! The only thing the 26 has for me is sometimes I pocket carry it.
Again, great video! I've got both the G43 and G43X and love 'em both. ("Conjunction, conjunction, what's your function!" That's dating you, but I'm very familiar with the reference! :) )
I couldn't be happier with my 43X and the Shield Arms S15 mags. Paired up with my Nate Squared Tactical holster that I already had for my 43, I am super happy.
That's because Glock magazines are polymer with a steel reinforcement...Basically if you remove the polymer and take a thinner steel mag and expand it to the outer meassures of the original mag, you would end up with a double stack steel mag for a slim framed Glock....
I shot the 43x and I shot it left. Tried it several times on different days and it shot left every time. On the same range days I did not shoot left with any of the other pistols that I had with me including my G43. I don't know why. I also like the flexibility of concealment with the 43. I can go to 8+1 or 6+1 if needed. The 43x does not give you that flexibility. Yes, I know I'm loosing a couple of rounds vs the 43x, but I gain flexibility. I might get the 48 to play with the slides, but for me, I'll happily will keep my 43 with a Vickers Tango Down +2 extension. Thanks for the review!
I updated my G43 and G48 with higher capacity mags!! For the G43 I went with 9 round ETS mags!!! I round less than the standard G43X. For the G48 I went with the Shield S15 magazines!!!!! Fantastic upgrades for both guns!!!!!!
I think the 43 is still relevant. It's shorter grip provides for a little better deep concealment vs the 43X. And for those with smaller hands like my wife, it fits better in her hands than my 43X. As always great video.
15:23 Really love that G-Code Phenom Stealth holster, sootch ! Need one of those for my own 43X and a few other Glocks. Thanks for showing it; will have to spend more money because of you. :-) You sure do show some cool products on your channel and have great taste !
I spent part of my youth swinging a 7 ib. hammer as a steel worker. My palm fits the 43 well as my hand is broader that it is long (no piano in my past). It is my carry now as it was economical and accurate. A century Arms mag and extensions give me more capacity.
The only thing that could make the 43x better would be adding a rail for a mounted light. Man, that would be too awesome. The perfect mix of a EDC gun AND a bedside gun. I would get a 43x if it did, but I don't see it replacing my 43 for EDC and the 19 for homedefense duty.
Just ordered the black slide G43x and handled one @ the range today. I was kinda surprised the frame/grip was smaller than i thought (got big hands) but nevertheless very comfy and slim enough for concealed and lightweight for all day carry. Dig the ACDC guitarwork in the background and outakes are always funny. thanx
I’ve been carrying a 26 for almost 10 years. Convinced my father last month to buy his first Glock, a 43. A week later I walked in and bought the 43x. I’m not sure why I bought it. The next day I put her thru the ringer shooting about 700 rounds and let me tell you I love this gun.
Being a big guy, with big hands I definitely liked the feel of the 43X over the 43. By the time I get more mags and what not for the 43, I could’ve just bought the 43X. Plus the 43x will still hold one more than the 43 with a +3. So it was a no brainer for me. I’ve dumped 100 rounds since i bought it last night, and so far I’m in love. Hopefully the 15 round mag comes back and I’ll have basically a G19 slim.
I really wish that Sootch does a Sig SAUER P365 NRA edition review. That is my new favorite weapon. Love the color and comes with 3 magazines. One flush 10 rounder, one extended 10 rounder, and a 12 round magazine. I really would love to hear your opinion Sootch. I am a Glock fan as well. G26, G20, G19, G43, G43X
Cerakote, durakote and the likes will all hold up if done correctly. The Key here is prep work, and light multiple layers as well as using adhesion promoter etc. I have never had any issues like many of the youtubelandia due to my background in autobody. Also, if possible baking it on is a much better method and you can build your own for firearms just search some diy designs on here. I have the g48 and have the shield arms s15 15rd flush fitting magazines after bing on their preorder list for 4 months or so and they run flawless. I also have the g43 and swap the slide and put it on my g48 lower and get a g43x. I also swap the g48 slide on the g43 lower and get a crazy looking hybrid...i like it and all function flawlessly as do the magazines. Just thought id share...Thanks!
I have 2 seecamp .32's that I dearly love for deep carry. They have no sights. I also have 2 G43's that I often carry. I wish that they didn't have sights. I am a firm believer in point and shoot rather than front sight focus. Anything under 15 yards I want to see the target not the sights.
I hammered the bullseye with my new 43 6 round firearm with no issues.. I malfunctioned big time in both shield 15 round mags on a new 43x with old style silver color slide. Shield Arms is sending new stronger springs for magazines . Seems the glock tolerances are different for shield magazines between the two black vs silver slide 43x.
Yup. I bought a 43 before the 43x and 48 were released but I never loved it because the grip was too small (a pinky extension helped but not enough). Then I learned that I could take my 43 slide and put it on a 43x/48 frame. It feels so much better!
Excellent video explaining everything about the Glock 43 43x and 48 48 is much better than the Glock 43x it's a little bit longer same size as a Glock 19 but the 43 it's good for CCW cuz you could conceal it a lot better even though it only has six shots plus one in the chamber but that's up to you they are all three excellent guns if you could even find one today it just seems like nobody has them anymore 💯🇺🇸👍
Trust me I’ve carried both go rent them both it’s a night and day difference... to be honest I i’ve been kind of sitting here wondering y people are even comparing the two from each other since the only thing they have in common is the caliber lol I just don’t see y u would wanna have a bigger gun for concealable applications unless ure James Bond and going to look for trouble
One of the benefits I like about my G43X is the quick draw and presentation. I appendix carry and I like that I'm able to get a full hold on the grip and I can clear my holster and present alot faster than my G19 due to the shorter barrel. I noticed I started to not carry as often due to the bulk from my G19 but thing fits the bill. Either way guys, Glock now has options for any application...best all around I recommend a G19, but for something more carry friendly, the G43X is a great option. I'll sacrifice the 5 rounds if it means I'll actually carry the damn thing more often. And if you own the G43, I see no reason to upgrade. I would've picked one up but I hate my pinky hanging off, and/or pinching the shit out of it during reloads with a subcompact. Great video Sootch!
I prefer the full grip to include my pinky, which doesn't need additional extensions to include that digit....the capacity thing is an entirely different discussion.
I want a 43x. I’m in New York with our ten round bs. I will replace my shield (great gun but I’m pissed at smith and am selling all of mine) with one to be the next size up from my 43. It is almost the same exact size as the 8 round mag in the shield.
I own both pistols and I like them both equally. I mostly appendix carry the G43X but sometimes I ankle carry or pocket carry the G43 depending on what I'm wearing. Sometimes I need deep concealment or I want to carry a back-up pistol and the G43 is great for that. Also the G43 is easier to hide in a vehicle or in a house.
NOt sure, the sig p365 and the springfield hellcat are both same size(or within microns) of the g43 but with higher round counts. Now some argue its all about the number of rounds. i personally carry a taurus 856 6 shot revolver or kahr cm9 which both have lower round counts than the new wonder micro nines, however my hellcat is on its way, should i feel the need to go into an area where the need for higher round count may be needed (ie: the cities)
I’m all about having large or what I consider standard capacity magazines. I carry a glock 19 consistently. But let’s be logical. If you can’t settle the argument with the first five rounds what makes you think your going to settle it with the next five. But more is always better.
I have several Magpul mags for Glock and just a few of the ETS mags. The ETS mags are 100% reliable while the Magpul mags pretty much fail everytime I use them. They do make practicing failure drills possible...
I picked up the standard 43 a month ago. You can increase the capacity of the 43 but you can’t remove the extra length from the x. Personal preference, I like them both.
Sootch, you can do the same kind of switch with your C-Z75 and your PCR! PCR slide on top of the full size frame, compact pistol with 17 rounds, works real good in the waistband, try it!.......Paul
Of course the +1 only gets you to 8 rounds if you chamber, which still falls 3 rounds short of the 43X & P365, but I guess if you can't get it done in 8... Do you have the pearce +1? Can you speak to the quality and function?
@@jasonriccoboni5931 I have the Pearce +1 on a couple of my mags and they are fantastic. Can't hardly tell they are not the original glock mag pinky extension. I also run the Taran tactical +2 mag extension. It is aluminium, is kinda expensive but works flawlessly also. With it I get 9 rounds and even with the 8 round option I have a very deep concealment setup.
@@donsvideos1985 Thanks for the reply. If I go with the G43 over the P365, I'm gonna order two of the pearce +1's and replace both 43 mag plates. Reading the comments, I also came across a company called MagGuts, supposedly gives you +2 without adding hardly any extension at all. Looks good in pics and sounds good on paper, not too sure though.
@@jasonriccoboni5931 I have 5 mags and the extension makes a world of difference. I am a big guy so the mag with no extension at all works but not well! Good luck on your decision. I will look into the one you mentioned I have not seen. Thanks
Been wanting a single stack glock 19 for ages. I carry the epic HK Uspc .45 and a full sized SIG 1911 but I have to admit on off days and days where my back and neck are bad... I love the HK p30sk, shield 9mm performance center, and glock 19 and 26. I prefer single stack with the exception of the somewhat bulky HK uspc.45 (benefits outweigh any downsides esp getting it for $600). My 1911 is all steel and high slide SIG but carries very well....again a revolver or g48 are tempting, both even, backups sint bad for carry lol Anyway thanks for the review
I'm considering just buying a separate G43x frame for my G43, and a couple 10 round mags, so I can swap the slide of my G43 and have carry 2 options, without paying full price for another gun.
They need to keep the Slimline 36-45acp but they need to do the frame like they did the rest and increase the capacity on the 36 and that probably outsell the rest of them
@@davewight I want to get to the range & rent the shield 45 but I haven't done it yet I read some good things I had to show 9 mm I did not like it I sold it to my niece's husband and then I got me a Glock gen 4 26 no I love that gun I got plenty of Glock 17 mags for Glock 15 mags and extra mags plus 2 round extenders for it I mostly carry the 2 plus round mags I can put 4 magazine full at 7 yards with 3" shoot & see targets
Glock 43x has the same height as a G19 but holds 50% less. Height is everything in concealment, not width. Glock 43 has a 3/4" less height than a 19/43X. Either get a 43 or a 19/26 w/ a G19 mag on backup. Running a 43x with a mag extension that makes it even taller than 19 is just dumb. Just get a G19.
The 43 is probably the perfect carry pistol. 99.9% of self-defense shootings never needed more than 4 rounds. Ironically, I own a 43X and I do miss the 43 because it was easier to conceal, but the X's grip feels better on the back of my palm.
I’m gonna say no just because the G43 is still an excellent pocket/purse carry option especially in summer when you don’t have a lot of clothes on nor want to carry a big pistol. Though I still don’t get why Glock didn’t make the 43 and 43x magazine compatible. To me, the G43 is fr someone who wants deep conceal carry while the 43x and 48 is for someone who wants a Glock but can’t afford the regular glocks yet still wants a full length grip
Sooth said it "when conceal carrying it's all about options" and the G43 and has the most options. Glock said it "why settle? buy them all". Multiply your options.
Glock 43 Gen 5, magazine compatibility with the 43X, same grip length as the current 43. 8+1 flush mag, 9+1 with factory extension. That's my prediction/wish. But it would make sense to bring back mag compatibility.
43x is superior the shield 15 round mags and can also get the +5 extension to make it 20 that’s nuts I got 2 shield arms mags, Factr usa aftermarket trigger, ameriglo night sights, sent my slide to get milled and just installed my holosun 507k this thing is a game changer.

Glock should have just made their own extended mags for the 43. I bet they would've made more money since only Glock superfans bought the 43x.
Dude, thank u! I’m so tired of guys complaining about cosmetics. Are we buying them for durability and reliability or to look cute at the range?!
I do admit the finish on gen 4 guns is terrible...gen 3’s are so much better...I’m not sure about the gen 5’s

I had a Glock 43 and bought a Glock 43x frame, so now I can switch the frames depending on my concealability needs.
Just built a 43x myself. Bought the lower on gunbroker and the upper from brownells. Having my own build it's better than oem hands down.
I believe that the G43 still has a deep concealment application
I agree. The G43 grip is much easier to conceal but I love the way the G43x shoots. I guess that's how I justify both! lol! Thanks Jim!
And as a secondary/Backup CCW.
That's what I use the 42 for in a shoulder holster to backup my EDC gen4 19.
That's my thought also. The G43 scores well next to 380 and 9mm of the same size for deep concealment or pocket carry. Modularity is also nice.
And the 42.
Absolutely, there is still a role. if anything the 43x is absolute as I could take my 48 and my 43 and make one...

43 and 43x are different tools. One conceals better and one has more capacity.
15:23 Really love that G-Code Phenom Stealth holster, sootch !
Need one of those for my own 43X and a few other Glocks.
Thanks for showing it; will have to spend more money because of you. :-)
You sure do show some cool products on your channel and have great taste !
Just bought Taran Tactical base plates. Much cheaper then the 43x lol
G43 for me because I carry it as my back up gun at work on my ankle. The others are just too big to try to conceal with a longer grip.
I'm staying with my G43. Never had any complaints
Just ordered the black slide G43x and handled one @ the range today. I was kinda surprised the frame/grip was smaller than i thought (got big hands) but nevertheless very comfy and slim enough for concealed and lightweight for all day carry. Dig the ACDC guitarwork in the background and outakes are always funny. thanx
If the finish of a gun is a concern? Send your gun to Robar & get the NP3 or NP3+ finish applied; this stuff is tough as nails.
Nice video! Thank you. I have the 43, my mother got the 43x. It really is nice. Great review.
Never had an idea there were so many variations. Great presentation.
Best description in the business....Thanks
I really wish that Sootch does a Sig SAUER P365 NRA edition review. That is my new favorite weapon. Love the color and comes with 3 magazines. One flush 10 rounder, one extended 10 rounder, and a 12 round magazine. I really would love to hear your opinion Sootch. I am a Glock fan as well. G26, G20, G19, G43, G43X
Interesting 'tangerines to oranges' comparison, sootch! Thanks!
🖒😎
Good tune! Having a full size hand(s) I want a whole grip to hold on to. Thanks Sootch!
Great video Sootch. Your video is one of the best G43/X Videos out there.
I got the glock 43x the black slide one I love it and I haven't had any issues with it I put rubber texture talon grips on it and I love the grip now
13:20 that being said,. i'm buying 43x
Yup. I bought a 43 before the 43x and 48 were released but I never loved it because the grip was too small (a pinky extension helped but not enough). Then I learned that I could take my 43 slide and put it on a 43x/48 frame. It feels so much better!
Excellent video explaining everything about the Glock 43 43x and 48 48 is much better than the Glock 43x it's a little bit longer same size as a Glock 19 but the 43 it's good for CCW cuz you could conceal it a lot better even though it only has six shots plus one in the chamber but that's up to you they are all three excellent guns if you could even find one today it just seems like nobody has them anymore 💯🇺🇸👍
if i had a 43 i wouldnt upgrade but since i have neither i am going to buy a g43x
So ure giving upConceal ability for the most part for a few more rounds keep that in mind
Trust me I’ve carried both go rent them both it’s a night and day difference... to be honest I i’ve been kind of sitting here wondering y people are even comparing the two from each other since the only thing they have in common is the caliber lol I just don’t see y u would wanna have a bigger gun for concealable applications unless ure James Bond and going to look for trouble
have had a g43 for a while, tried a g43x. carried in about 3 days and sold it. not worth the extra grip length.
Reported for false information
Both serve their unique purpose(s). The original 43 makes a great deep concealment “thunder wear” gun.
5 round sacrifice is not a thing anymore
The 43 is absolutely NOT obsolete. It's thinner and short and can be deep concealed.
You have answered all of my questions.
Technically you can but it's not worth it.
I like all of them the 43, 43X and the 48. I ended up with the 43X for EDC.
G43 + vickers tactical plus 2 = perfection for me!! 😝
I love my 43X....first time I have liked a smaller single stack. Tried them all just about! Good review.
Thanks Brother!
Sootch, you can do the same kind of switch with your C-Z75 and your PCR! PCR slide on top of the full size frame, compact pistol with 17 rounds, works real good in the waistband, try it!.......Paul
I’d like to see a g26 vs g43x
Here you go! ruclips.net/video/NipZIk_OGAE/видео.html
g43 with a pearce plus one mag extension... A nine dollar fix!
@@jasonriccoboni5931 if I want more I carry the SA XD9 subcompact with 15 round mag. It's great but just too heavy for EDC for my line of work.
Thanks
Excellent reviews!! I have a question. Is the G42 the best concealed .380 pistol?
Thanks Hermann. The G42 is not the smallest .380 but it is very concealable and enjoyable to take to the range. I'm a fan.
I love my 43x! but I never owned a a G43. Another great video! Im subscribing! Keep them coming!
My 1911 is all steel and high slide SIG but carries very well....again a revolver or g48 are tempting, both even, backups sint bad for carry lol
Anyway thanks for the review
I'm considering just buying a separate G43x frame for my G43, and a couple 10 round mags, so I can swap the slide of my G43 and have carry 2 options, without paying full price for another gun.
Wayne Oliver That’s exactly what I did. Works great.
They need to keep the Slimline 36-45acp but they need to do the frame like they did the rest and increase the capacity on the 36 and that probably outsell the rest of them
Yes, the G36 is an excellent pistol. I'd love to see the wider frame. Thanks Billy
Not giving up my sheild 45
Great trigger and accuracy for a gun its size
I agree the thickness aides in comfort. Height is the key in concealment.
Or just buy a Sig P365... The guns are all fixed now. Blows everything out of the water in every category. Come into the future bruh...
The 43 is probably the perfect carry pistol. 99.9% of self-defense shootings never needed more than 4 rounds. Ironically, I own a 43X and I do miss the 43 because it was easier to conceal, but the X's grip feels better on the back of my palm.
I'm waiting for either a stripped lower or a ss80 frame. Then I'll swap over all my G43 parts and buy a couple magazines.
ETS 9rnd Mag with X-grip seems to be the best that I've tried for extension/mag combo
Regular glocks? How much is a 43 to a 43x?
Dude every glock is $500 😂😂
Can't afford a regular Glock?
Of course the X doesn't make the 43 obsolete...
That is correct
Sooth said it "when conceal carrying it's all about options" and the G43 and has the most options. Glock said it "why settle? buy them all". Multiply your options.
Glock 43 Gen 5, magazine compatibility with the 43X, same grip length as the current 43. 8+1 flush mag, 9+1 with factory extension. That's my prediction/wish. But it would make sense to bring back mag compatibility.
Great Info.
Thanking~You !
Blessings To Fellow American Patriots.
Amen
43x is superior the shield 15 round mags and can also get the +5 extension to make it 20 that’s nuts I got 2 shield arms mags, Factr usa aftermarket trigger, ameriglo night sights, sent my slide to get milled and just installed my holosun 507k this thing is a game changer.
I would rather have the 48 but they screwed up the magazines. I will stick to a 43 with a +3 TTI base plate
I love my shield arms mags.
