      Defensively, 2 way player is amazing but the biggest miss on the numbers they skipped is his career +/- is 252.
      McDavid career +/- is 75. Ovechkin 82, Kane 41, Stamkos 63. Crosby is only one close at 193. I think it’s safe to say all are going to the HOF and yet Marchand has at +/- of over double to triple most of the others while leading the league in short handed goals, top 5 and up in goals/points over the past decade. • @evanoheir1752

    Not gonna lie, Marchy and Bergy are lying under the radar a little bit. Marchy for all the reasons you stated in the vid, in addition to his short handed magic. And Bergy for his outstanding defensive style of play, which sort of prevents him from putting up those big numbers like his line mates. Also, his faceoff percentage is CRAZY good, and I think winning face offs is a very underrated stat, as winning a huge faceoff helps your team gain possession and score a goal

      Bergy is the furthest thing from under the radar, he's actually so "underrated" by wanna quirky fans who want to prove how hardcore they are that he's become overrated. He's an outstanding defensive forward which I think will get him into the hall of fame, but fans are so quick to call him underrated and even say outrageous garbage like him being better than Crosby or Mackinnon (spoiler alert: he's not) that the pendulum has swung the other way that I'd call him overrated before I'd call him underrated.

      There's plenty of doubt. Zero individual awards, and my biggest issue with him is he was never a point per game player until Pastrnak showed up. Really makes me wonder how much of his production can be attributed to him, and how much is because he's had the entire second half of his career playing next to one of the what, top 5-10 best goal scorers in the league. His career high was 61, then Pasta shows up and it's 85-85-100-87. And he's still not a point per game player, yet has more than 1 penalty minute per game, plus the controversy surrounding him that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. He has a case for sure, but there's a lot of doubt

And Draisaitl started hitting a point per game at 23, Marchy didn't do it til 28 (so much later than most guys naturally develop, meaning some external factors- ie Pastrnak-were likely involved).

    For me he is a lock for the HOF, his play over the last 6 or 7 years has been dominant, and for me he is unequiable the Bruins MVP. His 2 way game is also really good, as seen by his Short Handed Goals, he could/should have 2 or 3 Selke's. Corwin is also right that he provides something different to the game, he has been dirty but he is a great pest and provides fight, and real energy to his team.

  • @LeoBond
    @LeoBond 2 года назад +11

    Marchand was used poorly by Claude Julien. His career took off after Julien was fired. He could have been easily a point per game player for his whole career if not for Julien holding him back. He's also won everything you can win as far as team championships go: World Hockey Championships gold, World Cup of Hockey gold (plus tourney leading goal scorer), 2 World Jr. gold medals, and a Stanley Cup. Only reason for no individual awards is because the hockey media punish him for being too controversial. Easy Hall of Famer!

  • @casmatt99
    @casmatt99 2 года назад +35

    Marchand's offensive skill is undeniable but what really sets him apart from others in the the same tier is his defensive ability. Him and Bergeron are the best PK duo in the modern era, and their 5 on 5 defensive numbers are absurd. Marchand alone has more shorthanded goals in the last few years than some teams do. He plays one of the best 2-way games of anyone.

    • @exturkconner
      @exturkconner 2 года назад +3

      Brad is the best two way winger in the game and has been for probably 5 years. He's been more deserving of a Selke than Bergeron for awhile. It's pretty offensive that last year a winger got into the final three and it was Stone over Marchand. I mean no offense to Stone but Marchand is elite two ways. He should be in that conversation every season. If the press didn't hate him he'd have won multiple individual awards by now. As it stands because he's hated the only awards he can win would be uncontestable ones or maybe an overwhelming playoff performance could get him a Conn Smythe (though I'd assume they'd pull a Crosby of Kessel situation and give that to Bergeron also regardless of numbers).

    if Mcdavid and Draisaitl are considered locks why isn't Marchand? Sure they score a lot but they dont win.. Marchand has won and is scoring almost as much as those top players and continues to get better (and more entertaining) has he gets older and he improves the team he's on.

      Winning what? Boston won 12 years ago and Marchand was Bruins 6th-7th most important player that playoff. How many forwards are inducted without a single individual award and 26 players ahead of them with a better P/GP? 31 players in playoffs. Comparing him to the greatest talent since Lemieux is stupid

    I know Z mentioned this during the conversation but man was this conversation just a constant circle. It was like all of them saying the exact same thing 5 times in a row maybe in a slightly different way. Overall I think I’m on team Z and Luca. Very good player, but there’s tons of very good players not in the Hall of Fame. Right now I say he doesn’t make it in. Please don’t try and argue because I guarantee no reply to this comment will give me any further argument against this as I’ve already listened to this entire conversation. Lol

Only a handful of players in my humble opinion deserved to be so named. He is one who has maintained a very high level of play. He has recently dropped from being a super star, but still very good. Besides I think he has won more than many in the Hall anyway. Love him on my team and hate to play against. LITTLE BALL OF HATE. One of my favorite players.

    biased but no one ever talks about Marchand's passing ability. His vision is (in my biased humbled opinion) on par with Crosby. People wanna talk about his antics but it's all in his mind. Marchand being a smaller player refuses to be bullied. Not to mention being one of the greatest penalty killing forwards ever with his buddy Bergeron. Put the kid in, he's the complete package and any of you would take this guy in a heartbeat. He is the heart and soul of the Bruins.
