Andor Episodes 1-3 Breakdown

- Andor is dark and gritty and definitely brings a new feel to the galaxy of Star Wars, however the first 3 episodes were way too slow and dragged out unnecessarily. I think the show will be interesting for sure, however taking so long to explain such a simple story so far didn't need to take up 3 episode slots of the 12 we get.
Cassian Andor is a gateway to develop more of the Empire and to show us the senate that Palpatine eventually dissolves.
I hope we see Krennic, Tarkin, Vader, and Palpatine at some points in the show.

What did you think of the first 3 episodes of Andor?
Shoutout to all at the watch party!
Ok start, got me invested enough to continue watching, too early to give full score of the show, on music and directorial aspect I see very good things about it so I'm invested
I thought it sucked ass. I have a question is it something you enjoy doing trying to think of solutions on how to enjoy Star Wars when it’s very clearly dead I will just let you know it’s not healthy to bottle in your emotions you don’t have to listen to me but it would be nice if you made a RUclips video telling us what you really think about Star Wars giving us your insight on what you would want it to be and were you think it failed because to be honest you’re one of my favorite RUclipsrs ❤ all love man stay safe out there.
Just wow… such a different type of thing for star wars. You can tell there is a story to be told.
I was somewhat underwhelmed and confused at the same time.
Honestly, I didn't find it all that interesting until like 15 minutes into the 3rd episode.
These three episodes were only 1.5 hours combined which is effectively one and a half "full length" TV episodes as you suggest. I thought it was a great use of time myself. My favorite thing might be how it's not blatantly "Star Wars" with all the legendary characters and whatnot. The Rebellion was was mostly just a bunch of regular people rising up and I want to see the lives that they lived, rather than just focusing on the legendary characters exclusively. Star Wars is literally an entire galaxy, there is a galaxy's worth of people who potentially have really interesting stories. And it doesn't need to have Jedi in every episode either - it's got "wars" in the name, so show me some wars. Rogue One did an amazing job of that, and this show is leading directly to that movie.
This is the same reason Rogue One is a top 3 Sw film. Really looking forward to the rest of the show
Spot on! And you can tell the show is still Star Wars from the costumes and sets and creatures. Props to the creators of this show for finally bringing us a new perspective to Star Wars
Yeah but sadly I feel like if Theory doesn't get fan servicey type stuff with huge names and "star wars stuff" he doesn't really get it or like it that much... idk. IMO Star wars is about WAR... show us the REALITY of that. Like rogue one or this show (so far).
@@royzstudio5587 it's the same writers as rogue one!!! That's why they're so similar and written as something so much deeper and real.
"My favorite thing might be how it's not blatantly "Star Wars" with all the legendary characters and whatnot"
Exactly! I don't want easter eggs, or Jedi, or any references to the prequel trilogy.
This show feels like a real story. I mean for the first time since Rogue One, I really feel like I am immersed in the galaxy far far away. It feels so personal and I love it. This show so far is very touching and very powerful. I feel very connected to the characters already. So much that could be coming our way including maybe Thrawn Easter Eggs in the coming episodes.
Lol what? There’s been plenty of REAL STORIES after Rogue one in Star Wars that felt VERY well done and powerfully well done, what your saying doesn’t make any sense at all as there plenty of real great stories after rogue one entirely so. This is FAR from “the first time” AT ALL since rogue one in ANY way.
@@Gadget-Walkmen It’s his opinion. Calm down.
@@NicholasThyDank69420 his “opinion” is just obviously not true at all. If he didn’t like any of the stories that came out later, then sure that’s his opinion but they were ALL “feels” like a REAL story. This is just one of those ones that he actually liked and that’s it and he just needs to say that instead of trying to badly discredit all the other stories because they ALL were REAL stories and that’s as fact.
@@Gadget-Walkmen Those, "real" stories are poorly written piles of trash. TLJ? Horrendous. Quite possibly the worst piece of SW media to ever exist. TROS? Horrifying. Solo? Mediocre and pointless. Mando? Poorly written but only held up because of a few decent scenes and cameos. Kenobi? Oh my Gosh... I don't even know where to start with that show.. Book of Boba? Robert Rodriguez sucks.
And now Andor.. it's got my attention so far.
@@lessalazar9068 I don't know man,I wouldn't call mando trash though. Sure, writing wasn't it's strong suit but still it had a decent script , nice action and wonderful locations(not to mention some amazing addition of characters). But yeah I get your point , seems like these days people just want to see cameos instead of a well written ,slow paced show (which andor seems so far and hopefully will continue to do so)
The villain was not conflicted; he was panicking at the level of his mess up, and what it portends for his career. He’s clearly a corporate ladder climber and he just torched his promotion opportunity
Yeah when he said that he may feel conflicted I was like "did I miss something" because I didn't see any hint of him feeling remorse or something and wanting to switch sides. I think he just realized he bit way more than he can chew and he thought it would be pretty easy case, but in the end everything went to shit for him and he knows he's done.
I was thinking the same thing. He probably realised half of his unit got wiped out trying to get " justice" for the two dudes in the brothel and it's all on him. He is going to get an ass whooping from his chief inspector for defying orders. Great episode
He was in shock. That scene was actually pretty powerful and it was intended to be; this is someone who grew up in the privilege and comfort of the empire and thought he was untouchable, and he's learning how incredibly wrong he was. I'm sure there were plenty of combat veterans watching that scene who understood exactly what he was going through. It can't be easy to watch people around you be brutally killed.
yep i was thinking 'He's screwed. He was supposed to sweep this under the rug while his supervisor was reporting to the Empire. But what he thought would earn him respect and a promotion might just get him executed.'
Not sure he’s a corporate ladder climber. If that were the case, he would have listened to his superior..
I’m really loving how shows and movies aren’t dragging out deaths as much and they’re really letting the shock from the sudden “it’s done” really hit
I felt like it was Star Wars 100 percent. They just executed it differently. Definitely good. Everyone that had dialogue in the show actually felt like a real person. They each had their own personality and it felt real. Unlike boba fett or kenobi where the other background characters were completely meaningless
I agree!
Agreed
Agreed 1000%
i also agree! It totally feels like Star Wars. The new planet gives me Bracca vibes. It reminds me of Fallen Order.
Couldn't disagree more. No light sabers, no force, no Skywalker, no Yoda, no mandalorian, This show gets 2 thumbs down. You're a moron if you think this is Star Wars. This is just terrible.
Story building dude, not a slow show. Theres so much potential here, and absolutely something to be hyped about. Personally loving it so far
Couldnt agree more , if they keep this quality it could definately be among the best star wars content realeased
What story building are you getting in a bunch of kids taking 10 munutes of screen time to approach a crashed ship? Scenes where no one talks or does anything isn't story building. The show us good otherwise but godawful pace.
@@connorkenway09 there’s a shitload of story building there, the fuck you on about?
It’s literally setting up Cassian came from a tribe of lost kids and was technically kidnapped by the person he calls his mother. We still don’t know why those kids are there or who they are or what language they speak. The planet they’re on is also quarantined for the empire for a mining accident but it appears to be a cover up.
That’s story building. It’s already set up a load of questions the show seems it will answer.
this show is ass look at that small alien what the fuck was that thing looked like something from star trek
@@connorkenway09 100% agree. The show is good but the pace is awful.

The birth of the Rebellion deserves nothing less.
@@repticare101 not enough action for ya? Lol
Or not enough edgy themes and scenes that they're trying to pass off as "gritty" and "real."
For star wars, this show is very much so gritty and dark.
@@kevinchicas4737 which bastards?
Cassian murdered 2 people in the alley, one of them was begging for his life and he shot him in the face.
Now you will probably argue “but they deserved it!”. That’s not how justice works, but sure I’ll play along, they “deserved it”
But how are the other officers “bastards” for doing their job, by pursing a murder suspect? Even if we assumed the people Cassian murdered deserved it, how
Would the officers investigating that know that? So exactly how are they bastards? For what?
I'm actually still in shock by the fact that I loved it sooo much. I always keep my expectations low when it comes to disney star wars. But tbh and shockingly I have zero complaints about this show. Everything was on point. The tone, storytelling, cinematography and characters involvement (even side and background characters and their dialogs was on point). And I love the fact that they shoot this on location, and most of the things are practical, you can feel the difference. I love it. Big shout out to the creators.
Everything you said here is exactly what I want out of a Star Wars show. It even feels way more mature. I love it! The potential stories to come from this is truly amazing, I can’t wait!
I have the same thoughts on this show, the practical effects, locations, writing, cinematography, even the CGI looks better than arguably Kenobi or Book of Boba Fett
yes!! loving every actor so far too. no small parts.
Whoa hello there, Max
I 💯 agree. I was stunned at how amazing this is.
I don't understand why you're so obsessed with cameos.
One of the reasons why I liked Mando season 1 so much is because all of the characters were completely new, it felt fresh.
Because it's a connected universe where all the characters tend to tie in with one another. 1 event affects the next etc etc.
@@randomcontentguy2521 makes the universe feel small if they all tie in. This is a universe of trillions of people we’re talking about here.
@@LegendaryGoetz it will always feel small for you then. I for one don't think to much about it because it's a fictional universe
@@randomcontentguy2521I get it, (and it doesnt feel small to me) but it’s the fact that everyone feels the need to have everyone and their dog cameo in these new shows. There’s a reason it’s being meme’d on at this point. And this is coming from someone who loves a lore cameo. Anyways
the whole show is based on cameo by this nobody called andor and you complained about cameo ??
Tbh I've really enjoyed this so far. I didn't mind the slower pacing I'd rather it the way it is than for it to feel too rushed like Book of Boba Fett. The darker feel is great and I'm excited to see where the series goes.
Can't agree more with this.
They also have 12 episodes unlike the other who only have 6 so they have time to develop everything more
Same here I enjoyed the first 3 episodes.
I agree. This is exactly what I was hoping for.
Yes! We can’t complain about the rushed pace and light story telling like in Boba while also complaining about the slow pace here. Learn to enjoy a story people. Go read a fuckin book if you want in depth pure story telling. Can we just for once enjoy a show/movie as a fandom once please? Andor is perfect for what it is!
I really liked it. The slower pace, the writing and its intense focus on establishing the characters, the set pieces and graphics are phenomenal it feels significantly higher budget than Boook of Boba and Mando first season.
It's dark and gritty and it feels like Rogue One which is exactly what we were promised
It literally has a higher budget. But dude, can you imagine why they wouldn't give Kenobi a bigger budget? The planning at Disney Lucasfilm is trash.
Disney SW has always looked amazing visually
I felt like Cyril was not conflicted, but more a big fish in a small pond. When he actually has to lead, he is a deer in the headlights, but once the situation is kicked off, he’s frustrated by their lack of tactics, by his own lack of experience. He will go full empire.
I think he's all in, but he knows he's screwed since he's gone directly against his orders to basically cover up the murders and now he took a forced off world and has suffered casualties too.
Yep, but I think you mean Tailored Uniform Guy is a" small fish in a big pond", hence his attempts to stand out by, barking at people, disobeying his superior & such.
People that dislike Andor are people with low attention spans in my opinion. To me this is REAL storytelling. A slow burner show with meaningful dialogue and buildup to intense moments. To me this is refreshing because i'm so tired of how low quality the MCU has been lately. To me this feels like an actual show that has been made with passion unlike a lot of the recent MCU things lately
Do you like rings of power?
I’ve seen alot of complaints about hot it’s “boring” these people are used to action and mindless fan service. I hope Disney sees they have something good here and keeps making shows with actual effort put in.
I realy like how they choose a tread line and focusing on how each decision made by every character resulted in something horrible that they couldnt control, Cassian could have softed those officers ego by maybe offer them a drink or a slight pay off the books, The Deputy wanting to do his job but u can see he is still a greenhorn on how things run in the galaxy gets himself in even deeper trouble instead of letting go.
Bix could have prevented her BF death by telling him about her side hustle and noticing how her relantionship with Andor was taking a toll on him, if this is a showing of what we can expect going foward i cannot wait what else they can deliver.
@@GianniEndo Slow burn + good writing makes a good show, which Andor has. Slow burn + bad writing = crap. That's RoP.
@@GianniEndo I think Rings of Power is trash
I honestly disagree. This is not slow and dragged out, its a twelve episode season, with another season confirmed. To me it seemed they were building Andor's world. Introducing both friends and foes. It is dark and gritty, something i feel fits quite perfectly into star wars. So long as they don't start with the sidequest bs they did in the other shows, I'll be rather happy. I'm glad that is not leaning into the typical star wars stuff and actually bothers building something that isn't just star wars
Agree. People seem hard-coded for action nowadays. If there isn't fighting or something exploding, it sucks. The best stories have the longest build-ups with the most payoff
i agree!!!!
@@ericsweeney7406 thats not true! yeah people want action, those are marvel fans. This is star wars, its the incredible balance George had and the perfect pacing. These disney shows are dragged out because they have pointless long scenes that do nothing but TALK ABOUT DOING STUFF instead of doing it. Long walking scenes...that was never star wars!! They had the conflict and drama they needed then moved to another character...that was the page flipping George did so well, Disney made this show "slow" to prove they can bulld story...but they cant, because they dont write good story and the drag out pointless shit for an hour to make 6 episodes.
@@oldben1800 ah I see, you’re one of the action addicts. Pretty arrogant of you to claim to know what Star Wars should and should not be. Just because it’s a style we’ve not seen before for Star Wars doesn’t make it bad. Have some patience big guy
@@ericsweeney7406 you seemingly lack the ability to read.
There's a balance that george had when making starwars. It had the character building, the motivations behind the characters what they set out to accomplish. It had the tragedy and it had the fun and excitable moments. It wasn't slow and boring. It had the right TONE and felt like starwars.
This does not. Simple as that
The crew that crash lands has the CIS symbol on their white uniforms. So I think it’s still during the Clone Wars.
Yet those people that crash landed and were attacked by andor's clan/tribe(?) were said to be *from* the Republic? I knew something was off about the whole narrative...
@@bellandzoey a tribal people under autonomy within the republic still makes sense.
@@bellandzoey I thought they said republic ships were coming, not that they were republic. Maybe it carried something the republic wanted
And the guy that andor was talking with later on said that it was abandoned after an imperial mining disaster?
@@bellandzoey yeah that confused me.
I think Cyril will only go deeper into his need to capture Andor after what happened to his squadmates on Ferrix. Doesn’t seem to me like he’s conflicted about the side he’s on.
I agree! Cyril is all in now that’s what I got out of the last episode.
He’s probably gonna be Imperial ISB 10000%
He was just suffering from shock seeing his teammates die right before his eyes from afar
I 100% agree. He didn't seem to be conflicted at all. Instead he seemed to be regretting his choices in terms of deciding to actually take on Cassian without his superior' permission, and also seemed to be feeling sorry for himself as he realised how much shit he's gonna be in with his superiors.
I agree, I think the thing with Cyril is that he is a determined/persistent guy, but he just hasn’t had battlefield experience (obviously unlike the sergeant) and so suddenly being flung into that heavy combat situation was just a shock to him.
It was exactly what I had hoped for - nothing like Star Wars we’ve seen before and I’m perfectly fine with that
I was so so excited when I saw this being a Rogue One lover, and it 100% didn’t disappoint.
This is the most excited I've been about Star Wars since Clone Wars season 3 or 4 were on TV.
Exactly! Sometimes the movie makers insult our intelligence.

i liked the slow pace of the first 3 episodes. when you have good actors and interesting characters, you generally wanna give them room to breathe and emote and exist. that works for me, personally. and i also enjoyed having the time to absorb the world these characters inhabit without quick cuts every 2 or 3 seconds. this is a show i can sink my teeth into and i'm ready for more.

I think the pace was perfect and they nailed these first 3 episodes. People these days are just too used to fast paced episodic series.
Totally agree. I do disagree with SWT on that it was too slow. It's almost like reading a book.
Agreed. And I just can't understand SWT's need to see classic Star Wars ideas on screen *constantly.* They've been done half to death already, this is fresh *and* it's fantastic! And it's the first time I sing such high praises to anything Star Wars since before The Mandalorian had Jedi in it.
I really liked the first 3 episodes, the rogue one feel was definitely there
I think the one thing I loved the most was the pacing of these episodes. Knowing that there’s 12 episodes as well it’s such a relief bc the pacing just felt so off in BoB and Kenobi.
Bruh how the f*ck do you like the one bad thing about this show? They should've trimmed certain scenes to make this at least 10-15 minutes shorter.
@@connorkenway09 nah then it would be too high paced. You gotta have a slow start to a season that slowly paces up to a fast season finale and then the back end of the finale is the cooldown in pace
Exactly. Telling an entire story in 6 episodes just doesn't work for a TV show. Hopefully Andor will make them realize that.
Nick, be honest. You only like Andor because you tubers told you to and you only hate Kenobi because you tubers told you to.
@@do-not-subscribe not really tbh I p much only watch Josh or Theory and I’ve disagreed a lot with their criticism of andor. Tbh I don’t let other people’s opinions influence how much I enjoy a show. Was thinking the same thing that it could've been a really solid 2-episodes if trimmed a bit. Ep 3 picked up nicely. Keen to see where it goes from here!
Hi Nerd of the Rings
I’m loving the show. Love that they are taking a chance with Andor and I love seeing the galaxy through the eyes of ordinary people.
Better than another show with a dude mentoring a kid
I like the police force and giving them motives rather than faceless troopers trying to get the box or something.
Exactly what I wanted from the show and I know it’s only going to get better
I really liked how they showed a lot of the battle in Episode 3 from the Corporation's perspective, it humanized them and made them actual characters as well, instead of just faceless generic villains like you said
@@ryanc970 the main officer is super interesting and the bigger guy is likable too.

the show is basically a dude mentoring a kid... well not exactly, but u know. a vulnerable boy that got "saved" and learning from ppl. hmm I wonder where it came from
a character moves from point A to point b to point C and no one welcomed them and even the ppl who care about him had to give him the cold shoulder. ..hmm I wonder what other Star Wars do that?
a town with nothing, not quite desert, but nothing .... hmm I bet this is original in Star Wars franchise.
the town ppl working together even though they dont have the weapon or any means to fight back ..... I bet no other Star Wars show have done that before

Cyril's development has already been fucking amazing. What a great arc to make him the antagonist in the story, pure vendetta and conflict within himself.
Andor's arc is also amazing, I'm so excited to probe deeper into his story.
That banging of the metal beat the entire time was so eery and built so much tension. I felt my heart beating faster seeing when the beat would stop to see what happens next. The first three episodes have set the tone perfectly.
I also want to point out that the gentleman on the comms where Andor got wind of the search, he mentions Canari is "that planet with the mining facility incident, killed everyone." so it seems the flashbacks will wrap up what caused that massive fatality.
If you think this show is “slow” or “boring” then you really probably don’t have a grasp on character/world building, it takes time to build relationships with characters and understand them, this is done greatly by HOTD you learn to love/hate different characters which is great! It doesn’t feel rushed, it flows like a story should not jumping all over the place.

I was fully expecting to cringe within the first few scenes, but after 3 episodes I had no cringes, major complaints, or realization of any major plotholes. So far so good from my perspective, and I'm actually excited to see the story unfold. Instead of dreading more plotholes and unnaturally injected wokeness as in some of the other Disney Star Wars.

Everything else is the same copy and paste getting the characters together and sneaking into enemy base, or sneaking off planet... it's gets boring when it's the same plot over and over...
Agree. Honestly, a lot of post-Lucas Star Wars has featured choppy dialogues, rushed plot lines, major plotholes that make you cringe as a fan, inadequate time allotted for building characters, and lack of backstories that might better explain characters' actions. I found these three episodes to be very well done and anything but boring.
@@miked9545 same they were intriguing enough and characters interesting enough that lack of action didn't even cross my mind. After watching it I saw people complaining it was boring, and was really confused. They probably just want to see lightsaber fights and not else from Star Wars
@i hate twitter eh I didn't think it felt un-star wars necessarily. Music could be more Star Warsy haha. It's just on a planet we haven't seen. Focusing on normal people. I think it'll carry more Star Wars feel the further into the season and series it goes
This is amazing, this is what Star Wars has needed for a long time now.
The first 3 episodes were proper film making. Proper world building. Proper character development. I disagree that it didn’t feel like Star Wars, it’s just focusing on a different part of the galaxy that we’ve never seen before. Following Jedi and troopers is cool, but this is a departure from that in the same galaxy. I’m excited about what is to come. To me, there is more to starwars than just lazer swords and force users. In the galaxy far far away, there is space for stories like this. This felt more like a movie than a tv show. And yes, it was slow, but so was the Batman, and that movie slapped. I’m stoked for the rest of this show.
This is Star Wars at the street level. A realistic view of a normal person's life in the galaxy, who goes on to be one of the most influential in the Alliance. The world feels like star wars, so there's no need to have cameos or even the classic theme playing to remind us what it is
This is literally what I’ve been wanting from Star Wars for so long! Ik most people are still hesitant about saying this is a good show due to how little we’ve seen, but if the rest of the show is like this then DAMN! This is gonna be an incredible show!
I love the slower pace. Can’t honestly believe you wanted all that condensed
First Star Wars show in a while where I’ve felt like it’s not just counting down till the big cameo, but actually I was properly invested and it felt like an actual show not just a Star Wars show
"Just a Star Wars show" is a great way to put how I felt about so many of those projects as of late.
I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes, so what the first and second episode weren't action filled and were, as some are saying, slow. Its setting up the story, and the world its set in. Not every episode needs to be fast paced and action filled, they need to draw people in, and get you invested in the story and characters, which i feel it did! As long as it continues on this trajectory, I see Andor being one of the best things to come from Disney Star Wars!
Yea some people are just weird like that lol
Yeah I think by the end of the 3rd episode you must've known that the slower pacing makes sense as the end of the 3rd episode was great.

I actually really love how they are taking it slow. 10 episodes vs 6 or 7. Three full seasons already mapped out. I trust that the showrunner has a complete vision.
12 episodes actually, which is a shock since D+ shows are notorious for low episode counts and rushing plots along to compensate.
I was so happy for the slow pace. Really makes it feel natural.
I don't think Syril is conflicted right now; if anything, the deaths of his squad at the end of episode 3 will only serve to enrage him even more, which will lead him to be obsessed with Cassian in later arcs.
That's what I got from watching too
the most interesting part right now is that Andor is technically the villain.
We should have a series based on the bad guys's perspective once in a while like CIS Empire etc and not a iconic character either but someone low tier like a imperial medic or something.
Fuck, I’m glad they’re having Cys people in this show instead of LGBT SHIT

I really like the show so far, with epsiode 1 and 2 being okay and the third being really really good . What I liked about the first two episode is how it sets up the tension for the third ep. Also I really like how they are portraying andor in a grey sort of way and hopefully we get to see andors character development throughout this season
Best character writing I have seen from Star Wars in a long time, you can emotionally connect with every character. This is the future that Star Wars needs to take. I don't mind that there was not much mentioned about the rest of Star Wars that we already know because it proves that with the right creatives behind a show they can make it enjoyable and engaging by just telling human stories in a universe we love. WE NEED REAL HUMAN STORIES THAT WE CAN RELATE TO, this show did that at a very high level.
I would be careful to expect all these imperial officers like krennic, tarkin etc. to show up. So far it has been clearly stated that the show will feauture mostly new created characters and to show different corners of the star wars world. Expecting those established characters to show up will only lead to dissapointment if they don't.
I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would watch something only for a cameo. Part of the allure of this series is its new characters and reminding us that the one character to show up that we know is a cold-blooded murderer and a deeply flawed man.
I'm excited to see how they treat Mon Mothma, but the first 3 episodes were really pretty good.
I dont get why anyone would want Krennic and Tarkin....arent they supposed to be involved in the Death Star right now. At least Krennic should be pretty busy, and unknown to the rebellion since they arent going to find out about the DS for years. Tarkin meanwhile is in charge of a specific region right? So unless this takes place in the area he is the governor of he shouldn't be involved.
We can have new characters in some shows right?
@@GalaxyGal- exactly
I’m watching these stories for the new characters and new planets
I don’t want luke skywalker or darth vader to pop up
Star Wars theory is being so based
Please no cameos. I don’t want any known characters in this. Let it be it’s own thing and stand on its own two feet. Very good so far
I believe the ship that crashed on Kenari was CIS (you can see a logo that looks like the CIS logo on the uniforms of the people from the ship). So they probably crashed there because the Empire is taking care of CIS remnants.
If I remember well the adoptive mother said the tribe was gonna get genocided because they killed a "Republic officer". It disturbed me a little bit so I'm pretty sure about it but it has to be verified.
I think the flashbacks are set during the the Clone Wars era. Maarva and droid mentioned Republic ship is approaching. Although she also said the children killed a republic officer but they clearly had CIS insignia
They mentioned a republic ship coming in and since the show takes place 15 years after the empire takes power it would make sense for that to happen during the clone wars. I guess what you said could be true but the ages would be a bit strange.
Then why they say a republic ship is coming? Doesn't make much sense to me
This is *during* the Clone Wars; they mention that a Republic frigate is overhead when they rescue Cassian
So the officer didn't give off the vibe of being on the wrong side, I don't know where you got that idea. He looked more like he was in over his head and the reality of losing so many men, he probably is in shock and went internal. He did disobey his orders to just sweep the incident under the rug because of the imperial conference that was taking place soon. Now the situation has blown way past containment and will likely bite him in the ass soon.
Finally a show that slows down, so ‘un-disney’, so ‘un-mandalorian’, i love it, best directed show for SW so far?
The first 3 episodes were absolutely stunning! Definitely looking forward to the show and the story it develops 💯
Interesting you thought Cyril's acting was suggesting regret/changing sides. I thought it was the realisation he's seriously messed up as his orders were to leave it alone but instead he's caused the death of several more officers and massive destruction just for the perps to get away anyway. So regrets on messing it up and the reaction his career will face
Theory is completely misunderstanding what’s happening.
Cyril is the good guy here. Andor killed one man in self defence and murdered the other. Cyril is a cop. He’s not the bad guy.
I feel like we will lose everyone in this cast like in rouge one and that really is what humbles cassian and makes him truly fight for the rebellion. I find it funny he told Jyn everything he did was for the rebellion but the show starts out with him on his personal vendetta
Why does literally everyone write rogue one wrong 😂
It’s not that hard

I am in love with how it has presented this slow burn. It is good for stories to take their time, Star Wars can do with a little bit more mature storytelling (and I don't just mean with grit). The show respects the patience and intelligence of the viewer, and let's you take in everything about the atmosphere, the tension that builds in the third act and more. I think that this was absolutely phenomenal, I hope they keep it up like this!
did you not get the context? the kids are alone because their parents died in a mining accident, if the massive sweeping shot didnt make that clear, they literally explain it later when Cassian goes to the attendants desk. Also Cassian wasnt buddy's with Tim and told him, Bix accidentally did; their was clear tension between him and Cassian lol.

It’s been bad today
Ive noticed a lot of that today on every video
I love how this guy doesn’t understand this show is about the actual story and isn’t concerned with going ‘it’s Star Wars!’ every five seconds like that’s a bad thing.
@brug master No, the show should be telling a story. It just HAPPENS to be in the Star Wars universe, that's how it always should be. A lot of Star Wars projects these days are a breath away from breaking the fourth wall at times with contrived references.
I liked the pacing of it. It really paid off in the 3rd episode. Made the brawl super intense especially with the noise through the whole thing and then when it stopped as well. Plus the aftermath of all the characters afterwards. Really drove home why so many people joined the rebellion. Absolutely loved it
I'm fine with the pace being slower, especially since all the Disney+ shows usually have a low number of episodes and moves the plot at breakneck speed (mostly the Marvel shows but Obi Wan and Boba Fett suffered from it a bit). Love how gritty and lived-in the world feels, the corpos are a nice change from the Empire and all the planets/architecture seem fresh and unique while still keeping some elements that we're already familiar with.
I wasn't gonna watch this show originally, but I saw the trailer a couple weeks ago and changed my mind. Glad I did, because so far it's not bad
It's funny you say that Syril will become a good guy. Andor actually murdered a man, so right now he's kinda the bad guy. I love how both sides of the conflict are shown to have feelings, lives, and relationships. Even Andor's mother is morally questionable to abduct a child.
There's not a black & white dilemma in this series. It's all gray.
He looked stunned at the end. I think becuase how easily Andor could have killed him but didn't.
Ehhh Andor murder definitely isn’t the worst thing, and I’d debate it’s not even bad in this scenario.
@@musicfreak190 no. They showed he was in shock.
Syril currently IS the hood guy. He’s just a cop trying to catch a murderer
It was a bit of a slow start for me but that probably explains why they started with three episodes. Also I don’t think the Empire has risen yet when he was a kid because his adoptive mom said in the flashback that it was a Republic ship and that Republic troops would come in shooting. Which didn’t really make sense to me cause Republic troops didn’t usually do that kind of thing until Order 66.
There has to be a lot of people in the republic that are not clones. That so, we see that these guys on the crashed ship are not. The flashback is in the early clone wars era, I'm guessing. I think the show is going to try and show the Republic was turning corrupt, and much like the Empire, even before it became the Empire. I propably wouldn't make that the focus of the story but that's my sense.
If an episode by itself isn't enough for a week then there is something wrong with the pacing. If these 90 minutes were trimmed least 10 to 15 minutes shorter and made into 2 45 minutes episodes it would've been a perfect pace. Instead you get scenes dragging.
Really enjoyed this. Felt like rebels and cassian building his identity will eventually lead to the empire, like how the Ghost crew in rebels were this small threat, until they were not. Leading to get thrawn and Tarkin involved
Tarkin did get involved through. He destroyed the Imperial base on Scariff and used the Death Star to destroy Alderaan.
@@cityboychad Was talking about the Rebels Animated show.. How I liked that the Ghost Crew were not on the Empires radar at first, Until they became a huge issue.. That's what got the big dogs involved.. That's what I like about the Slow burn with Andor here.. Starting off with a Branch of the empire, or something totally separate.. Building his way to be a wanted man by the empire.. Sorry must have not been clear about my meaning in my comment.
i liked the pace, like you said earlier evenly spaced out rising climatic parts and lower parts
I think making it 3 episodes was a good move because they do a really good job of establishing the world and the new characters we meet. The stage is set very well and cleanly. The world building here is phenomenal
I really liked the first three episodes. This show feels less like a conventional star wars show and more of a gritty, down to earth show and im here for it. You can tell its made by the producers of Bourne Identity because it has that vibe. I am hoping for good things coming out of this!
I loved the way he described just walking in and pretending that he belonged.. I don't think people understand how much playing the part in social engineering works, it perfectly makes sense and describes the empire's complacency because of it.
Last night on stream I game these episodes at 6.9/10. Having rewatched them with some friends a second time today I would now give them an 8/10!
I remember last night sort of agreeing with chat that at times it felt boring and drawn out, but honestly rewatching again I came to appreciate so many good film making techniques and cinematography techniques they were using and like Rogue One I think this show will have people who don’t like it at first but will quickly be recognized for how well it’s made.
Also lore wise my main issue last night was I didn’t understand who the Preox-Morlana Corporate security (blue security guys) were. I was frustrated we weren’t seeing imperials and stormtroopers being the badass guys hunting Andor. I did some research today however and understand the Preox-Morlana now. I also learned that this isn’t just something Disney made up. This corporate security sector is based of Han Solo Comics from the 1970’s!!
I personally really enjoyed it, wasn’t bored at all, I really enjoyed the storyline and was very interested in what was going on. There’s a reason rogue one is one of my favorite Star Wars movies to date, these guys know how to tell a story. And I loved how it didn’t feel Disney at all.
Cyril is a villain origin story. He was told not to go, he went, Andor killed a bunch of his men. He's about to get even.
As a Swede myself, I'm happy to see more and more swedish ppl getting into SW productions as actors and music composers!
Fun theory the virus in the ship that killed the cis operative’s could be the separatists way of trying to recreate the blue shadow virus after it was stopped on Naboo
I like the slow burn. I think sometimes we've gone too fast that we lose the characters in it. The fact they show how many of the characters played a role in the things that went down was my favorite part of this. I want the opposite of Theory - I want them to keep it slow and build this galaxy more. Build more beyond Jedi and Sith.
Yes! Build beyond the Sith and Jedi! We don’t need constant action scenes. Drama in dialogue and works building is the best part.
I like this breakdown a lot, it fits well for what we got. I think they'll get to more things that connect to the rest of Star Wars more, like you mentioned at the start. I think these first three were more to give us a starting point with Cassian, introduce some interesting backstory, and start his journey and arc that will end in Rogue One as we saw. Really enjoyed what we got, and I think it will get even better as it gos along.
As someone who hated everything Disney has made for the Star Wars universe, I think this is a breath of fresh air.
It feels mature for sure, I’ve complained that the last few shows and movies have been way too kid friendly.
The characters are actually interesting, with good development so far, and the actors do a great job. The writing has ALSO improved too.
I’m hopeful that this show keeps the pace it’s kept, because a slower story can usually provide a substantial arc for all characters involved.
Gotta give kudos to Tony Gilroy for his wizard writing.
People seem to think that stories poorly written and incoherent appeal more to children than they do. I don't think a lot of the stuff Disney has done, harming the brand, appeals to any age group. I get your sentiment, though, and I quite agree with your praise of Andor.
Another reason the show looks different and took so long to make is that they shot it on location and built bigger more detailed sets instead of using the screen room like in Mandalorian and Boba Fett
I love the slow burn. I know Star Wars isn’t geared that way, and it’s not for everyone, but I feel it’s what Star Wars needed.
More like Star Wars fans aren't geared that way. This drawn-out storytelling fits the world flawlessly
As soon as I saw him whip out that pistol I immediately was reminded of Jedi Outcast and I am so happy about it because that blaster for me is just so nostalgic
Love the new camera angle for videos like this. Love the pictures and watching you talk at the same time. Love the content 👍
I don’t get why people are saying this show is too slow paced. It’s twice as long as Kenobi, and it’s already accomplished more in its first 3 episodes
No lightsaber go swoosh weeeou so boring. Boo. Want swoosh
6.5 because no action and no cameo nostalgia trip...what a joke. Finally a mature and good series without rushing, and you dont like it.
The Galaxy is so big, why should we stay every time about Jedi stories?
The next story to break bounds should be about a droid, maybe a synopsis of Star Wars by R2D2. He is the witness to the main story of Star Wars.
What is Star Wars now... cameos of the old character showing up? Well I do not know but I love this new take.
So don't watch. I saw no cameos, so idk what you're talking about...
So don't watch. I saw no cameos, so idk what you're talking about...
The time-line of Cassian's appearance was difficult to establish. If a little more time was spent introducing Cassian from the beginning it may have helped. Instead of interjecting glimpses of Cassian as a child mid-way into the take, it would have helped with the story-line to show where he came from at the git-go. I had to guess who the young boy was; and after three episodes It finally came together. IMO, the whole intro was clumsy at best. For someone who never watched Rogue One it had it challenges.
I will say this…the musical score at the end of ep2 is so powerful that, frankly, it overwhelms whatever story is being told during this time.
This show so far is everything I wanted it to be and more for a million reasons. That third episode was Mandalorian finale level and even better in a few parts. The first two episodes did a good job of explaining Cassian’s who.e backstory and introducing us to his contacts: his friend Brasso, his ex Bix, his friend-ish dude Nurchi, and other dudes along the way. Syril Karn was a realistic person too and not just a cartoonish villain who wants to do bad stuff for the sake of being bad. You can see his emotions at the end of Episode 3 and Kyle Soller did an amazing job portraying him. After the third episode, Karn now has more of a motivation for hunting Cassian. And the acting is phenomonal too.
I’m absolutely loving andor, and how it shows us the perspective of the Primo guys. They’re definitely the villains, but they haven’t actually done anything wrong yet, and that’s why watching the show is so emotional. You’re almost rooting against the protagonists.
Bad guy is literally just a law enforcement who doesn’t want his men to die
Aunt petunia said that those were REPUBLIC ships coming to the the crashed ship. It wouldve had to of been before the fall of the relublic in the flash backs
You ever grow up on the streets of Detroit, totally relate to Andor 🔥
My immediate reaction after seeing them back to back:
HOLY SHIT
THIS--- THIS IS THE STAR WARS WE'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!
Where was this writing on the big budget feature length sequel trilogy? This was fantastic! Can't wait till next Wednesday. Haven't been this excited for Star Wars since Clone Wars was on TV.
Love the Blade Runner feel to this! I liked it; thought it was great. Definitely looking forward to more.
It was excellent
Have zero to complain about
I would have done flashbacks in black & white
That’s it 🔥
First episode i was like hmm ok, then after the next two i just didnt want it to end, it was amazing, great visuals, more gritty and adult, great actors and story, and its amazing what they can do when they forget about being WOKE.
The best SW series yet.
I liked how grounded and gritty it is so far, I’m excited to see when it gets deeper into SW itself.
10/10 so far for me. I like the slower pace.
I think that because the show has so many episodes they are allowed to be slow, but I do think the episodes felt really short
Didn't feel slow to me. Loved every second. I like the pace.
This was the most well written Star Wars content that Disney has ever made!
The Clone Wars, Rogue One, The Mandalorian & The Bad Batch are also up there with it.
Imo only Rogue One comes close.

Seemed like the village parents were all forcibly removed or like maybe a mining accident left them all orphaned...
I’m hooked already. Slow paced story, world building, intriguing characters and dialogue, this is where it’s at!
I don't think Syril is conflicted with good/bad. Seems like he is very proud to be a Pre-Mor, believes that everything should be done by the book, and everyone who disrespects them should be held accountable. He probably thought bringing in Andor would have been simple, and did not think failure was a possibility, so when he failed, he was shocked.
I absolutely loved the first three episodes. The costumes and environments were done really well.
