To the folks who are commenting about "white" this and "uncomfortable" that... I think it is a good thing to show that the American Revolution wasn't just a cartoon of George Washington and the cherry tree and Hamilton rapping his way through history. But I get the feeling that these kinds of comments imply that the Founding Fathers were somehow morally bad because everything they did wasn't 100% perfect in light of the 21st century context.
What is amazing about that generation was that they created a governmental structure that had never existed before and that could grow and change as times change and could accommodate a pluralistic set of ideals that today have to work for 327 million citizens. I challenge any of the detractors to consider their own lack of perfection and whether you could have done any better in the 1770s and 1780s.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." 243 years after the Declaration of Independence, we can't say that the US government or the citizens of our country are perfect, but I believe we are more perfect today than ever before. As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July in 2019, we should celebrate without reservation even though the new America that revolutionized government in 1776 wasn't the perfect place that RUclips comments would have preferred.

Agreed. The Founders and those that fought this American Revolution did so at a time when the common person in EVERY other nation had limited (or no) freedoms. It wasn't that people wanted to be from Britain but British ways. The British (and other nations) went on to subjugate tens of millions of people around the world.
While the United States wasn't perfect, it didn't colonize or create an empire. Eventually (through a civil war, and constitutional amendments) Any one could come here, become a part of the culture, become a citizen, find opportunity and make decisions.

@Michael Cristian To your point, as early as the 1810's, the future New York City saw a slow, yet steady flow of Hispanics migrating to my future borough of The Bronx after the Revolution! In those times, the city was broken up into small villages. My region would have lied near the Town of Westchester (a.k.a. the future Westchester Square reigion.) A resident of Cuban descent named M. Lopez was documented to have resided in this town as early as 1813! As a Puerto Rican American, I take pride in the Hispanic lineage of Our National History...🇵🇷🇺🇸😎

This is so fascinating, I’m glad we shed light on all colors, native people , and all walks of life. They didn’t teach you this in school. It was the little neatly packaged interpretation of what they wanted you to know. History has a passion, a strength , perseverance , and most all people who have shaped it . We need to recognize that. And give credit to all who have scarified and forged there way for themselves and all of us.

Nicely done piece. But I wonder whether the Oneida section of the museum reveals that the Oneida nation *sold* most of that 6,000,000 acres over the years? There was recently a court case about it, which revolved around the current head of the nation suing the U.S. for breach of the treaty preserving their lands, but as it was shown in court, the U.S. didn't encroach. The tribe sold land to private investors and the State of New York.
The Oneida are the only Native nation in the U.S. to have allied with the winning side in every American war.

I will give this video a "like" because most stories about the American Revolution hardly ever cover the story of the colored races and their role. However, if you going to cover their plight of colored people during the Revolution, at least recognize that their life improved over time and how decent Americans bonded regardless of race. Stop promoting the "victim" mentality among non-white Americans. Furthermore, Native Americans are not relegated to reservations. They can establish their own communities without government entitlements, but many chose not to. Like other countries and continents, the Americas were conquered. There's no point in whining about what was. Native Tribes fought each other and some sided with their conquerors. So, they sowed their fate. Stop living in the past and move on.
