Personally, I like the Altima. I know a lot of people complain about Nissan’s CVT being unreliable but my wife’s Altima has almost 300k miles with the original CVT. I know it’ll be time for a new car but I think that’s impressive and definitely a testament to Nissan’s reliability if you take car of the vehicle.
I agree I'm part of the Nissan Altima group on FB and man I've seen Altimas with original CVTs with 400 plus thousand miles on em. As long as u service the CVT as per Nissan recommendations then u should be fine
Nice. I always felt the Altima is the reason midsize cars went up a level. When the 2002 Altima came out, everyone started raising the bar on their midsize cars.
I had a 2008 and a few months ago I got a very slightly used 2023 with 6,000 miles. I drive a few hundred miles a day. Love my nissan altima. My last had 177,000 miles on it and I bet it would have been able to reach 250,000-300,000 easily. So far my new one seems just as reliable. My new and old were both automatic baseline models.

The only unscheduled repair I've ever had was to replace the front right axle. I still get almost 38 MPG on the highway and 30 mpg combined city / highway. @@brianmabone1643I know we are looking at a 21 Altima SR at a Nissan store to get us out of our 2019 gmc terrain denali where we are paying so much for it
Former 1995 Nissan Altima owner (for a decade), and would rather have that one over this current model. As Joe said, the current model should lose the CVT. The current model, while categorized as a midsize, is more full size by the old standards due to the incessant segment creep where the Altima has grown larger than the Maxima. Nissan needs to lose the CVT across the line, and offer a Sentra with the variable compression 1.5T to get me interested in a sedan from them.
I rented a Camry and a 2023 Altima back to back and drove them on the same roads. Somehow, the Altima has more personality, if you can call it that. I found the Altima's steering and ride to be about perfect on real California roads, and I beat the Camry's fuel economy by 6 mpg.
The Altima is more of a "drivers" vehicle than the bland Camry. That said, the Camry also offers a hybrid, which is a tad quicker than the regular four banger AND is has a much better fuel economy. In this day and age with gas prices fluctuating so much, if you are not ready for EV (and I would not recommend and EV at this moment), hybrid is a logical choice. My Camry hybrid gives me more than 50 mpg's and I don't care what the price of petrol is...I really don't. It's a minuscule part of my budget. Nissan's CVT is poor and they have no hybrid. Test drive the Camry as well as the new Accord hybrid and you will be utterly surprised that these cars aren't as "impersonal" as you think. A test drive always makes you an experience richer...
I’ve owed a 2020 Altima SR and loved it. Lots of space, quiet ride, and amazing looks. The only reason why I got rid of it was scared the CVT would go out when the warranty expired. Plus they had this issue with throttle body going out, hopefully they fixed that.
Really like this car Joe! I’m left wondering why Nissan doesn’t bring out a hybrid Altima anymore? I currently drive the 07 hybrid and I’d like to continue my Nissan tradition but if I were to go with a new car it would be the hybrid Camry. Once you go hybrid, you can’t go back. Great review.
I drive a 2020 Camry hybrid and it easily give me over 50 mpg's and the car is far from slow. It's a good car. That said, if you are in for a hybrid, I would recommend you test drive (extensively!) both the Camry hybrid as well as the new Accord hybrid. Both mpg's are good and both cars have their pro's...
For an inline 4 cyl, It actually sounds pretty good. Also its hard to ask for more than 12.3 inches so I think that's definitely enough size for me. I think the only major zonk is the CVT.

I had to drive one of these recently as a rental and I could not stand how it drove. The CVT was my biggest complaint but the steering felt pretty terrible as well.
The only thing that I like that stands out are the rims, the new Nissan logo, and paint. Other then that throw the whole car away. First start with the CVT
I just bought the Camry XSEV6, mainly because of it’s 8 speed auto. The V6 is silky smooth. I like Nissan and I’ve owned them, but not a fan of the CVTs.
Nissan is definitely improving from the 2010's era, however, they are still penny-pinching with that CVT and non-LED tail lights. Improvement, but can do much better
Im gonna tell ya, i have a 23 camry and im trying to get out of it. The camry now is so paper thin and my hood shows it. When i drive on the freeway and sometimes at an idle, my hood bounces and if you know its doing it , you will always see it. I hate my car now, the engine is still solid but the outside is junk. Could it be they are getting cheaper because of the supply issue who knows. I looked at this Altima , and as far as exterior looks pretty solid, and not flopping the wind like my Camry does. And it’s pretty disappointing because of the fourth year I think, it’s trash . So if you consider a Camry, don’t do it! if you care about the quality of the outside.
Fantastic looking car. Glad Nissan is shaking up their lineup. THIS is where the 11gen Accord should have gone. Also, you've zonk'd so many fake vents (rightfully so!), you'd think the manufacturers would have listened by now.
This Altima was just a small refresh. Literally all they did was change up the front grill, removed the fog lights, and added a larger infotainment screen. Other than that, this is the same design from 2019.
How are those paddle shifters? I have an 09 Altima 2.5S cvt w the gear shift manual option. I am used to that and use it a lot ..saves brakes. No need for me to press a button...just move shifter yo left, etc. How are those paddles? When u turn, can u still work the paddles easily? I have liked my 09. Only issue has been leaking..clogged drain from moonroof many times and water leaks in w bad rain and water got in doors. Guess the weatherproofing strips needs to be replaced. Trying to keep my 09 going, but these newer models r looking good. How many miles does the avg 09 Altima last btw?

Mainly when you walk up to say “let talk about what’s going on here!” 😂 I’m stuck with what I want to upgrade too I’m personally a Honda guy but never owned one. Currently have a Hyundai Sonata 2014 I need to upgrade badly so due to my enjoyment of your videos I take your advice highly. I either want a Ridgeline, Accord, Sonata, K5 or an Altima I just don’t knw which one is best for me.
A ilnissan sales man told me they are discontinuing the altima in 2025 ?? I was gonna buy one despite the ad reviews but I think I will get a 2023 mazda 3 sedan carbon
You guys can say sh*t tons of mock towards nissan. But you cannot avoid the fact that this brand has legacy in the automotive industry and it will live on forever. Big love to Nissan Altima from a pathfinder owner!
Lol......legacy of the CTV transmissions......if it wasn't for those transmissions these would be great cars. Top trim level Altima SR will never be better than the base model Camry.
I own a 2010 Altima with a CVT and after 96,000 miles have had no transmission problems. I would rather have a smooth , fuel efficient CVT than a 8 or 9 speed automatic that is constantly searching for gears, shifts rough and is reluctant to downshift.

Nissan is definitely improving from the 2010's era, however, they are still penny-pinching with that CVT and non-LED tail lights. Improvement, but can do much better
I totally agree the CVT is a total let down a test drove the VC Turbo and I was completely disappointed by the performance
Thinking this might be my first new car purchase. I currently have 2 Altimas. 264k miles on my 2006. Drive it daily.
Why are fake vents even a thing?
Makes absolutely zero sense.
Smh
I love the color and tech in this Altima. I think they made smart changes, only deal breaker is that damn CVT. Put it to rest Nissan!
@@ericB3444 Why
They nailed the styling.
You are so right about that!
that flintchstone cracked me up haha
I am so sorry to hear about that.
If you are considering this , get an Accord 2.0 T , 10 speed auto, massive power and torque with 28+ mph city
2022 is unfortunately the last year for the 2.0T Accord.
do these have sensors around the outside of the vehicle?
Hey Joe when will the next two media drives be and what cars will be there?

I love Raiti's humor! It's what made me like and subscribe haha!
That is so awesome. Thank you for letting me share the cars and laughs with you!
And thank you for being awesome! It's great to see someone who's passionate and loves what they do.
Don't forget Camry also has the sporty xse hybrid not to mention the TRD
Fantastic looking car. Glad Nissan is shaking up their lineup. THIS is where the 11gen Accord should have gone.
Also, you've zonk'd so many fake vents (rightfully so!), you'd think the manufacturers would have listened by now.
This Altima was just a small refresh. Literally all they did was change up the front grill, removed the fog lights, and added a larger infotainment screen. Other than that, this is the same design from 2019.
@@mr.grumps3544 I wasn't aware. It is a beautiful car, still.
Really want to see a review with the VC-Turbo
If I had a dollar for everytime you say this needs to be dark chrome! 😂
Wow that paint does pop huh 😍
Great lookin car..just don't like cvt's..nice job on vid as always man.
Same gauge cluster since 1998
haha, great job switching lanes for the bike whilst simultaneously still dishing details about the drive experience. I would probably have brain froze for a few seconds to get past the bike before continuing with the narration. experience coming to the fore😃
Looks way better than the new Honda accord ... thanks for the review sir
Some are saying that!
Looks better, not bad. Just a note, the Sonata has hood struts, not a prop rod.
Just got this car! its great so far
That is wonderful! Congrats! What color did you get?
@@RaitisRides Gun metallic, my 2nd favorite color behind the garnet pearl metallic
@@collinb0607 im thinking to buy one now
@@demon-ll9eg You should! I still really like mine. Im at 6K miles and I have about 27 MPG average so it’s nice on gas
A lot of things can happen in the back seat huh.
That's like one of the things I like about this person is the jokes he says when he talks about the backseat of a car😂
I never get to see these vs cars in this segment in a drag race
Looks pretty good but not digging the hood to front fender fit. Can almost see right into the engine bay.
It is really weird how they did that Troy!
My 2004 Altima still running, love nissan seat and engine very responsive.
As I have followed you for a little while now I’ve begun to feel like I’m in trouble some how.
How in the world do they have the same keyfob from 2005? 😂😂 that's ridiculous.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Nissan.
I own a 2010 Altima with a CVT and after 96,000 miles have had no transmission problems. I would rather have a smooth , fuel efficient CVT than a 8 or 9 speed automatic that is constantly searching for gears, shifts rough and is reluctant to downshift.
How are the transmission holding up on these Nissans?
Yes, the Altima is definitely a better car/buy than the Camry.
Sounds good to me!
Joe, nice Nissan Altima SR is a dandy.
Thank you Luis! I appreciate you always watching!
Are the CVTs in this one bad also?
Yes indeed
Look at the Chinese version of the Altima. Looks way more premium than this American version. And it has beautiful rear led lights. It also has really nice interior LED lighting.
It should of got a zonk for the taillights it’s 2023 almost where’s the LED tail lights? especially on a midsize sedan this gotta be one of the last cars still using old school tail lights.. 👽🛸
Wrong on the turbo version able to get AWD, that would be nice!
