When I saw the first pic I thought you had used ribbon around the container, so that's what I'm going to try. My great granddaughters are going to love these for their little trinkets.
I was not sure you could mod podge metal, but now I am sure!! such a cute little gift and I think your daughter will love it and you for thinking of her and making this for her. You are such a giving and sweet mom.
You have to prime it. You have to sand it and then use multi purpose adhesive and let dry till warm to touch not cool. Then you can apply your stuff. Finish with varnish

I have never use mod podge but I love the way it makes it look. And by far The best price for people who are on a budget like me… And they are beautiful! I'm making my first altered altoid tin and I love your ideas. I put black mod podge on mine first so the metal will grab the paint. Then I used a sealer so the mod podge wouldn't chip. Don't know if that will work yet. I'm waiting for it to dry now. You are very creative. P.S. with all due respect, it is mod podge, not modge podge
I did one before I saw this video, using napkins instead of scrapbook paper and I have to say, waterbased POLYCRYLIC topcoat makes a world of difference in the quality of the end product. I ever so slightly sand after each coat, just to take the fine little rough nubs off the surface. I use about 200-320 grit sandpaper. Takes only about 3 coats. I like to put 2 coats of polycrylic on the surface and let them dry completely to adhere the napkin to the surface (with a hot iron) as well. If you he surface is flat enough to iron. It looks like I purchased the tin at a store that way. Looks so much more professional than any time I have used modge podge for the topcoat. But, I still use modge podge when I want that home made type feel to my crafts.
Love these ideas. New subscriber. These would be great, especially the old shaving cream containers for homemade body butters and creams too. The tins could hold homemade lip balms or like lotion bars for the hands. Once the diy products are used it becomes a beautiful trinket box. Love it!

I also heard it will rust. I called modge podge but they said you can't paint on metal it will help it to rust. I don't know. I found it peeled right off the metal so I sanded it but noticed it was starting to rust overnight with modge podge! So I am going to sand it off and go get some rust protective you put under paint. Lots of people are painting altoid boxes. I bought the same kind of plain box. Says this modge podge for dishwashers is a sealer so that is what you are suppose to put on before you paint after you sand. The lady was not helpful and said it is a glue, over and over. But the bottle says a sealer too. I see you are just gluing on paper though. But for painting this is what I am finding out
