@@StabbedPanda Yeah, but it could have been a little less overbearing as if it were an advertisement for a Hollywood blockbuster so it would compliment the music with a delicacy more deserving.
I got sent here from school. Here are notes and questions I got from my music class: 1. When did the Medival Period Began? It began after the collapse of the Roman Empire 2. What defines Monophony? It is a single line. 3. What defines Polyphony? Its more than one line. 4. Now that you have an overview of the music of the Medieval period, how would you compare the music we have now, to the music then? What can we thank God for in the way that music has developed from the Middle Ages to our present day? Modern music dives in on a more vocal and melodic tune. And they are more serious and emotional. Example Juice WRLD & XXXTENTACION. They both talk about drugs and depression and in the end they called for help. While classical medival music does not have much vocals. And relied on the dramatic instrumental. The beat of modern music relied on the 808s which is a synth that revolutionized modern music. However medival times used old instruments like a tuba or trumpet. I thank God that modern artists learn to talk about serious issues and tried to be more in sync with melody to relate to us nowadays. And that we evolved as human beings. - The plainchant (or plainsong) is the traditional ritual singing of the Western Christian Church that first developed during the earliest centuries of Christianity. It is characterized by the following: a. A single line of unaccompanied vocal melody (monophony), b. Lyrics are in Latin. c. Sung in free rhythm - not divided into bar-lengths. The words recited (prayers and psalms, etc..) give rise to a free plainsong rhythm associated with speech rather than strict rhythms of music. d. Uses modes (instead of major/minor scales). - Many medival music is made on triple meters. I hope you got some info from this. I need subscribers and I just wanna help (:

I know some of you guys want to know more about this type of music my favorites are Jordi Savall he is a conducter however his youtube channel is compozed by many other people it is amazing i dont know much about his history because i never bothered on searching up his history but hes amazing. another is capella de ministrers amazing artist and my favorite song is laude novella sia cantata, this song has many singers and musical instruments and sounds like something you would see out of a video game. Their are many more i know of but they are super hard to find and the only way i found it is by searching up real medieval age music or medieval age music. Also a youtuber name Rachel Boyd has these collection of music in one video with different volumes. i know some people already know this but for those who dont these could be found on youtube its just youll have to do allot of research since this music is super old and people noadays like the songs that have more than a million views which get really boring to me. So i hope you find these artists and many more also if you find an artist that i dont know of tell me the name because i would really like to know. goodluck finding these artists just like me :)
Hey man, yeah it's tricky to balance life and RUclips, (I also upload to Liamtaylorguitar here). But, let's just say that hitting 1k subs is a good indicator ;)
I swear every single time I look into middle ages stuff and Shakespeare, every comments section has people studying for an essay. Is it so abnormal for a 15 year old to just wanna get into Shakespeare and medieval music?
I think it's cool!! I personally am not doing it just for fun, but it's really cool to see a teenager who is looking up Shakespeare and Medieval Music because they want to!
Hello! Because of copyright law, we couldn't use actual, real-world examples of Medieval Music in this video. But fear not! We made this Spotify playlist which you can follow and listen to: open.spotify.com/playlist/3EAVwWbb4IUEu46Oy2bGeB?si=EJqJe7QETZaQbEA85H6ekA
@@zxbryc it has! Not the copyright of the original compositions, but the mechanical copyright of the performers. So, if we wanted to, we could have performed out own versions, but that's not really our vibe!
The church didnt orgonise modes these where very comonly used in the Greece for centuries before hand. We do actually have examples of notation from ancient Greece but its very different to what Guido of Arezzo developed in the late 10th century
I have an issue with the fact you said medieval music didn't often show note length or pitch whilst displaying an image of relatively developed (note the 5 lines in the stave) mensural notation, the whole point of which is to show note length. Now pitch is relative because turning with relative but no it does show exact note intervals, and the length of each note.
Can anyone help us? 1.What are the instruments during the Medieval Period? 2.How important are those instruments during that period? 3. Which instruments is commonly used in the Renaissance period? 4. What are the differences between the instruments during Renaissance form the Baroque period? Thanks in advance
We didn't initially create the channel, or this video, for use in schools - hence the name. But that hasn't stopped many schools, judging by the comments here.
The fiddle hasnt changed alot since the middle ages? Really. This is just wrong. They where a compleatly different shape, played in a different way, for a compleatly different perpose. It had a much Flatter bridge to aid chords, its held infront like a rebec or a welsh crwth. The bow bends the other way and is held like a german cello grip. Youre correct that this became the violin but so wrong that it hasnt changed much.
Somehow you managed to get your information about the rest of the instruments mostly right. Please dont use myth and incorect information in educational content. Its just purpetuation ignorance and fasle information among people. Also where are your references? They arent in your description.
I don't mean to be the hater, but for the sake of education, I need to point out that much of this video is over generalized and some things in it are just wrong. For example polyphony means multiple independent voices, not multiple notes. When two or more voices sing in harmony that is homophony. Also, the intentional use of chords did not happen until the late Renaissance, which is past the time chant singing was popular.

I thought it's 100 AD to 1500 AD?
Conventionally it's viewed as starting at the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD.
