Well i got to shake his hand 7 months before he passed and it left a deep mark on my playing, attitude, and way of life. check out my solo clips to find out :)
This entire video is rare, incredible and the quality is off the charts. Bro, you have done the entire jazz world a great service by posting this. Thanks very much!
Something I always wondered about; Buddy knew there would be cameras and lights and still while the rest of the band is wearing short sleeve shirts...he is wearing a dress shirt and a sweater?!! And I'm sure expending more energy and sweat than anyone else in the band. None the less, these videos (and the sound) are incredible and I hope they remain as long as there is an internet.
First, I would like to say how sincerely grateful I am for the posting of this fantastic concert. I thank God for You Tube and the people who are fortunate enough to have these videos so that we can still enjoy and appreciate the unmatched talent of the Icon that is BUDDY RICH and his band. He and his music are sorely missed! I know there is alot of great talent out there in the world of jazz but there will NEVER EVER be anyone like Buddy ever again. Thank you again for this great music! PS: Do you or anyone know if there is a version from this concert of"Keep the customer satisfied" that's not interrupted by narrative? Is the best version ive ever heard!
Awesome post of Buddy's last band! Stinks he couldn't get it recorded. This must have come from a European format video so BIG thanks from America to ManTheJazz for posting the whole thing!!!! Some old pals from Berklee including Eric Miyashiro (Lead tpt) Greg Gisbert (Jazz tpt- next to Buddy) Tom Garling on jazz bone chair (later became Maynard's music director) and Ireland's Jay Craig on Bari sax (Thanks for the Guiness!). And Buddy more finely shaded than ever!!
No matter how many times I watch Buddy, he makes me smile in disbelief. He's the epitome of Dynamic!
I got to see Buddy Rich in November of 1986,5 months before he passed away.He gave me chills when he played his solo's.
I THINK BUDDY WAS PRETTY HAPPY WITH THIS BAND.
wonderful man with a great sense of humor!
Damn Greg Gisbert and Eric Miyashiro!

I never thought I'd see Dr. Strangelove interview Buddy Rich.
I'm sorry it took 7 years to acknowledge the greatness of this comment.

There is a live album from December '86 called Just In Time.
What a delight! Thanks so much for posting this!
Wow! Thank you man, this is fantastic and ultra rare!
Thanks very much for posting!
He was pretty brisk in 86. It's a real pity he passed away few month later.
1st song is "Keep the Customer Satisfied"
2nd song is "Wind Machine"
Third one is "Best Coast."
Notice Eric always holds his closing note longer than the downbeat? Get the last word in, Eric.
As it should be.
Suveränt!
trupeter japanese Erik Mihashiro?
Yes
Does anyone else think Buddy sounds like Trump in the interviews? 😂😂
