  • In this video I will be reviewing the Urban Carry G3 Holster. This review will include retention, retention clips, how comfortable it is, can you sit in it, how it wears in casual clothing along with dress clothing.
    At the end I will give my final thought on the urban carry and who it works for.

    I have the G3 for about 5 months now and it works really well. Most people are surprised that I'm carrying, "It doesn't show, I would have never known you had a gun on you". I've worn it doing some really odd stuff like mowing the lawn and doing yard work and it doesn't bother me. The only time it was noticeable or uncomfortable is when I was wearing tighter jeans or shorts. I tried a kydex holster a few times but it just felt weird and showed that I was carrying. I have the G3 Lieutenant model with the locking clip and use it with my M&P Shield. I plan on getting a Canik TP9 Elite SC and will use it for that but may get another G3 with the magnet so I can add a micro red dot and light onto the TP9 Elite SC. I definitely think these holsters work best with smaller guns, a full size gun would probably be uncomfortable.

    • @RAGaming11
      @RAGaming11 3 года назад

      Did you order for the SC? Considering this but curious how the thickness of the Canik effects comfortably

    • @EL-ml5tl
      @EL-ml5tl 3 года назад

      @@RAGaming11 No I haven't purchased an SC yet, hard to find right now. I really want the increased capacity that the SC gives me over my M&P Shield but if it's uncomfortable with the SC I might try the Hellcat.

    • @RAGaming11
      @RAGaming11 3 года назад +3

      @@EL-ml5tl I shot the hellcat while deciding on my handgun choice. I really really was not impressed. The surface area for your hand is substantially less than anything I've shot. It felt too short and stubby and when fired felt like it was gonna fly away. Have you considered the P365?

    Just bought one two weeks ago and you're right, initially it was uncomfortable and I didn't think it was for me --actually almost gave it away--but I gave it 3 days straight, 12 hours a day and it softened. Now, I love it! And no one-at all- notices that I'm wearing a 9mm! And I'm fat! Thanks urban carry!

    I'd not heard of this holster till I saw an ad before the video I was originally going to watch, which led me to this video! Being a leftie, I was really glad to see that Joe is too - made it very relatable to me, which most videos aren't. I'm really intrigued by this holster and will be getting at least two as soon as I post this ....

    I hope the following helps when deciding size.
    I love it! I bought the $40 extra, English Bridle Leather Captain in black.
    I doused the hell out of it with mink oil, folded the hell out of it to soften the leather and placed it folded various ways under my old leather armchair cushion and sat the hell on it for a few days! I kept my Beretta 92FS Compact (4 inch barrel) in it for several days too. I will likely lightly apply some gun oil inside it with an old toothbrush...LIGHTLY!!
    The gun I carry, is my somewhat internally modified 92FS Compact with Wilson Combat goodies (springs, short reach trigger, hammer kit) that also includes the WC slim grips which likely help with concealment and certainly help with my personal grip on the gun. I believe they are carbon fiber. Anyway, they save about 2mm over the standard plastic offerings and look like they belong.
    I do have a flat base plate on the magazine and not the supplied "pinky friendly" standard base, as it just seemed and felt "right" to me. Aluminum, $13. Amazon.
    That said, after adjustment of the holster trigger guard retention clip, (loosening it) the trigger guard sits nicely in the internal retaining clip and the gun is completely covered, the barrel tip resting on the very bottom of the holster. The standard barrelled 92FS would likely require the larger Colonel holster.
    The leather quality is top notch and now resembles an old worn pair of moccasins!
    A bit pricey, but really just $50 more than a run of the mill IWB holster. Considering what it's for, it is not too much extra to spend and this item will last.
    Well for the money and the fact its a quality piece of kit, I believe it is worth it. I also use a Galco "swiveling" shoulder holster that fits the 92FS Compact if that helps.
    Hope this helps someone who is wondering what fits what.

    Yeah, it prints a little bit, but if you were wearing darker pants, you wouldn't even notice it. I love mine. I usually wear it with baggier pants anyway, like my cargos, and you can't tell I'm carrying at all. I love it. Definitely took some getting used to.

    Ty for the honest review. I’ve seen so many negative comments about this holster. I think it really depends on the body type and the type of clothes one would wear. By looking at your review I definitely wouldn’t call it the “end all be all” to holsters, but it’s an option to consider for less printing and for wearing dress shirts tucked in.

    I've had this holster for nearly two months. It is made for my Sig Sauer P238 in .380 with extended clip - a small firearm.
    This Urban Carry It has become my FAVORITE. By far.
    I probably have 8 or 10 different holsters. Every one is a different brand and I've carried many different firearms (Glock .40 Gen 23, M&P Shield 9mm, Kimber 1911 in .45, etc.). I have holsters that are Inside the Waistband, outside the waistband, front carry, small of back, etc.
    It is well concealed when carrying, regardless of my attire. And it is the most comfortable holster I own. As far as I'm concerned, those two facts make it the best holster for me. I'm in dress clothes (suits, sportcoat/dress slacks, etc.) quite often. But I'm often wearing jeans or shorts. I'm not skinny - I'm sixty yrs old and carrying about 20 extra lbs at 5'9" and 202 lbs.
    I wear it equally often with a shirt that is tucked in and a shirt that is not tucked in.
    I can carry it from morning until night, while walking, driving, working at my desk, doing odds/ends. I do not even notice that it's there.
    Of all my holsters/firearms, I think it is the easiest to draw.
    I've not tried one of these with a mid-sized or large firearm. But I regard it as OUTSTANDING with a small firearm.

    I owned this for a while. The problem is that 1) you need BOTH hands to draw it every time, and 2) once drawn, re-holstering is a chore. Now, I come at this from the context that when you draw a weapon for self-defense, you are at the highest level of stress and - very likely - in a chaotic situation. You may need one hand to fend off an attacker, to keep a door from being opened, to move a loved one out of the way, or behind you. Maybe you are holding on to a bag of groceries or the keys to your car. So, the time it will take you to transition to this somewhat complex two-handed operation to get to your weapons (to me) is a recipe for disaster. I think it is an interesting idea, but I am not sure that it is solving a problem that other holsters have not already solved. And, if you are already wearing a shirt over your belt area to not show that weird-looking leather handle that looks like you own a 90s cellphone, you might as well just wear a great apendix kydex holster.

    I have one and I like it a lot. Every concealed carry holster has good points and bad points. You definitely need to dress accordingly,looser fitting pants are the way too go. So,if you're into skinny jeans you need to look at other options.

  • @traceyoung5592
    @traceyoung5592 Год назад

    Yes, it prints a little, yes, it does take a little practice to get used to it. End of the day though I'm conceal carrying again, which I haven't done in years because every other conceal carry holster I've used has been unbelievably uncomfortable after a few hours. I highly recommend this with the Smith and Wesson M&P Shield or similar size pistol. It may be just fine with larger firearms too but I've never tried so couldn't say for sure. Fantastic idea executed very well.

      Printing on the pocket is a non issue. Does not flash your firearm to anyone, like most other cc holsters especially when reaching up with your arms. Softened the leather & it is awesome. Draw is fast & smooth with practice standing, sitting even one handed. Wear it daily & my family (who knows what it is) doesn't notice it.
