Probably the best exhaust comparison video I've see yet for the '15 Mustang GT. The only thing I'd like to see added here would be a dyno run to show improvements to HP/Torque numbers. S-type sounds like the right mix for a daily-driven Mustang. Thanks for the great video, Borla.

So its 2021 and its like my Borla S Type just sounds better. Don't ask me why but its almost like it has a break in period and wow the sound is addictive. I don't think I ever listen to the radio ever. 4 years later I thought I would reply to my old post saying I just love my Borla exhaust. My Mustang is my toy with only 9000 km on it and the Borla unleashed the true beast.
I got the borla atak catback installed in my 2016 ford Mustang pp thinking they would blow my mind but in reality they were not as loud as I thought they would be.
Atak is sucks, very loud and noisy !!!!!!! For a V6 (X-type) For a V8 (Touring) BEST CHOICES👌🏼 coz its not about what is louder.. its about what is more beauty and what is good to hear👍

Got the touring axle back with the pp2. Love the sound. Mild but deep til it beds in. exactly what I was looking for. Mellow and deep at start up. Gets louder over time. Very intoxicating sound. fucking car purrs and snarls when you want it to. No regrets.
the mustang 5.0 already sounds good. but that atak is killer. now if you can get the v6 camaro to sound like that well then you have something. unfortunately the new atak exhaust system for the camaro doesnt fit the 2015 camaro so I'm going to make a recording of the mustang atak and strap it under my hood.
Great systems no doubt. Love it that so much testing and engineering goes into the development of the systems. One thing though, showing no drone in 5th at 2800 rpm? How about in 6th at 70 mph with the tach around 2000 rpm? My car, with the Bassani axlebacks and off road X, drones at 2000-2100 but nothing above or below that rpm. I think some even refer to it as the "dreaded 2000 rpm drone" being a very common rpm range that produces drone. Like really, who drives at 70 mph in 5th? Once again awesome systems and if wasn't for the high price I would have went with the ATAK on my 13 GT!!
Robert Kohut You're on the money Robert. I've driven my '15 GT for periods of time in 5th at ~70 when I'm in passing mode, but most of us shift to 6th when in interstate mode. I'm curious about drone at this stage as well. Tempted by Magnaflow Competition's deep rumble and impressive torque numbers but not if the drone drives me/passengers crazy.

Im right there with you. I have a 13 GT with Borla S-Type Axle backs, Boss 302 side pipes fitted to a Borla X-Pipe and at 2000 RPM on the highway in 6th the drone comes on.
The ataks sound so angry and good but too loud I think the s type is the best balance. Great tone but still loud enough to have that muscle car presence.
as someone else mentioned they should have put it in 6th to test drone on the highway. Typically when you get in the higher rev range like they did, there won't be any drone, just a rumble.

But about what is more beautie👌🏼 so in my opinion i chose TOURING (Borla) exhaust😍 because if u have a GT (not a V6) u don't need more than a TOURING... this exhaust makes the sound AMAZING !!!! The (X-type) is good for a V6, but not for the GT....!!!! Coz It become very noisy !! And the (ATAK) is verrryyyyy LOUD and crackly, its not like what i want to hear (not for a V6 and absolutely not for a GT) !!!!!!

I just ordered the touring for my '15 GT convertible. I thought it came with an X-pipe since that's what I saw in pics. It turns out the X has been replaced with a resonator. Why? Is it to reduce drone? Can I replace it directly with an X or H? Thank you.
The Touring has a resonator to reduce loudness. You can replace it with an X-Pipe (spare part) which means you upgrade your Touring to an S-Type, since that's the only difference between those two catbacks. The mufflers are the same.
I'm about to buy a ford mustang soon a gt 5.0 and i want the aggressive sound on it. I know the price for it is $1500 and i am willing to pay for that. but what i really wanna know is. Is it necessary to remove the factory resonator with these exhausts? Will they sound as good keeping the resonator and will performance be impacted by keeping the factory resonator?
@@borla Thank you for the reply...my original plan was to remove the factory res, but then I read an article that stated doing so interferes with proper exhaust scavenging and can cause warning lights...now I'm confused. I don't know about cars, so I don't know what to believe. I even called the dealer and the mechanic told me a horror story about a removed resonator that triggered a guys check engine light and made his car fail smog. Don't think the guy had an after market exhaust...he just removed the res. Thoughts?
@@1970jstone A resonator delete should not cause a Check Engine Light or fail a smog test. The resonator is downstream of the catalytic converters. As long as you do not touch any of the emissions control devices like the catalytic converters, your car will pass emissions testing.

The Borla and Ford Racing by Borla systems have similar sound levels, but Ford had a hand in tuning the sound of the Ford Racing by Borla systems so their tone is slightly different. Ford Racing by Borla may also sound a little quieter.
I had the atak for over a yr. and 4 mufflers cause they kept breaking. Sent back for refund and bought. Corsa extreme. Which to me isn’t that unless you are above 5k rpms. The 5.5 inch tips are gay as well. I may just eat it and get the atak again
Anyone ever try the Touring with LT Headers and Green/High-flow cats? Headers make it loud, but I'm trying to figure out a good setup that's a little more low-profile, at least during cold starts.
Thanks for reaching out! We do have a Touring sound level available in our 2.5" Cat-Back systems. It will require an adapter to mate up to the 3" collector on aftermarket headers. We do also make 3" Cat-Back systems designed to work with aftermarket headers, however, they are only available in our S-Type and ATAK sound level.
Hello. Thanks for reaching out to us! Our cat-back systems will not void your warranty. The ATAK is the loudest system that we offer. I would not recommend it if you are worried about getting pulled over for the system being too loud.

I would go with S-Type because ATAK sounds so unnatural and so sparky. S-Type is in the middle from sounding to mild and to load. S-Type all the way!

How does the Touring axleback differ from stock, in tone and in volume? At what point in the rpm band would the sound be more pronounced?

You will have to remove the resonator with our Cat-Back system. If you wish to keep the factory resonator, we do offer Axle-Back systems.

+jesus olguin yea it is great but I think that borla can add their own flavor and projection that can really make the car stand out even more.

Is the Ford racing by Borla Touring exhaust the same?

The Borla and Ford Racing by Borla systems have similar sound levels, but Ford had a hand in tuning the sound of the Ford Racing by Borla systems so their tone is slightly different. Ford Racing by Borla may also sound a little quieter.
I had the atak for over a yr. and 4 mufflers cause they kept breaking. Sent back for refund and bought. Corsa extreme. Which to me isn’t that unless you are above 5k rpms. The 5.5 inch tips are gay as well. I may just eat it and get the atak again

I got a ticket cruising at 30mph in a 35 zone ..so yes it will lol. but then again i live in California..
Anyone ever try the Touring with LT Headers and Green/High-flow cats? Headers make it loud, but I'm trying to figure out a good setup that's a little more low-profile, at least during cold starts.
Thanks for reaching out! We do have a Touring sound level available in our 2.5" Cat-Back systems. It will require an adapter to mate up to the 3" collector on aftermarket headers. We do also make 3" Cat-Back systems designed to work with aftermarket headers, however, they are only available in our S-Type and ATAK sound level.
Would this void warranty. ? Im scared to get atak cause i live by police station. :(
Hello. Thanks for reaching out to us! Our cat-back systems will not void your warranty. The ATAK is the loudest system that we offer. I would not recommend it if you are worried about getting pulled over for the system being too loud.
