- Come and join us for a tour of our narrowboat - 'Rose O'Leigh'. She's our floating home that we are travelling around the inland waterways of England in.
We've owned her around four months now, and in that time we have done a few bits of DIY in her to make her feel like home - so come aboard to have a look at what she's like inside.

Had the pleasure of meeting Pete and Dawn yesterday ❤ as usual we learned something 😊 I felt a little star struck, but Dawn is a funny Northern lass so I felt at ease…..thanx for your advice and video teachings guys xxx
@@kazmorley5175 was a pleasure to meet you both yesterday. We may see you again before we head out towards Wigan… Been a windy day cruising today but we made it to bridge 16 before calling it a day.
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget you're brave pootling in wind guys, im a shitbag when it comes to hoolies lol xx
@@kazmorley5175 'Itchy tiller' - we wanted to get going! Done wigan flight today - but at least it was sunny!
Enjoyed your boat tour. Thank you both. 😊Happy sailing 😊
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you
very nice looking narrowboat, love the port holes alot better than the big windows, love the saying ITS NOT A PROJET YOU NEED TO GET A TSHIRT WITH THAT ON .
I like the t shirt idea! Might just do that!
WAWAW UTO 🦉🦉🦉
Thank you so much…..I just love the rapport between you both…you do make me chuckle.xx
😊 thank you
Thanks for inviting us aboard!
She's a winner, that coal chute is ingenious, so is the head, and that new engine is a treasure! Easy to see why you bought her, she'll be a real beauty once you've got her all done up. I love how you have pieces from home that carry happy memories, it's so much more welcoming than the sterile IKEA type interiors you see on so many narrowboats. I loved how you did Leander lady, looking forward to following along as you make your new "not a project boat" your own.
The teapot chimney is terrific, wish there were some way to make it a permanent working chimney, it is such a charming idea (especially for a boat with an Irish name).
Happy cruising!
There are so many good points about the boat that she is really feeling like HOME already. I've never been in a ikea - and have no intention of doing so, re use and recycle is far better and much nicer (in my opinion). to keep the teapot would be good - if we could...
I love the stool, I agree Dawn leave it as is, it's gorgeous and rustic, and nice it was your dad's.❤❤
The stool might get a bit of polish and a cushion made for it, but nothing else. It's lovely!
Hi Dawn and Pete, looks good like you said a little dark. It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. Have fun.
The coat of paint has made a MASSIVE diference and painting the back storage / cupboard area will transform that as well.
More than just a tour - the essential introduction to narrowboats!
That coal hatch is the best thing ever. I had the idea to store mine in a box on the roof with a shoot coming down into the boat but needless to say never got around to it!
I have lots of ideas - most of which I’ll probably never get round to either! 😂
I would not have expected so much useable space in such a small (NOT project) boat. Looks like you have a ong enough list of non-projects to keep those of us who watch your mad skills at work interested. One non-project that viewers could help you out with might be re-titled from "buy me a coffee" to "keep my beer shelf stocked." We all --or a lot of us, anyway--need that *other* kind of brew on a warm afternoon. Which reminds me. It's about time to put the kettle on for a nice cuppa Yorkshire. 😊
I like the idea about keeping our beer shelf stocked! Enjoy your cuppa...
Love the boat fantastic. Wow you two are lucky XXX
Thank you!
Oh no 🙈 the bridge the kettle and the chimney…sounds like a children’s book 🤣 brilliant use of a bit of scrap to be fair 👍 agree the coal store is genius, would never have guessed that in a zillion years. Makes much more sense to have the log burner central, gonna be so cosy in winter. Enjoyed the tour, thanks guys 👍 xx
Maybe we should try writing the book! Coal bunker is genius!
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget haha maybe 🤣
Mr Mr that's a lovely engine it would look very nice in my engine room and a very spacious looking craft for such a short one Wawa indeed
Engine is my pride and joy! and yes she is very spacious for such a short boat... WAWAW
Congratulations on a lovely cosy comfortable boat, she’s looking fantastic! Also thanks for introducing us to the Jackery, since I bought one after your review it’s been invaluable! Hope you enjoyed the BBQ😁
The BBQ was delicious thank you. We have two Jackery's and use them all the time, there's barely a sunny day go by that they aren't out with the solar panels on charge.
Just found you. Its nice to see two down to earth people. Take your time with the "not a project" 😜
Thankyou! We are enjoying the adventure on our 'not a project'! :)
Thank you Peter and Dawn for your boat tour; very interesting! I always enjoy the clever use of the limited space on narrowboats and the ingenious ideas unique to your boat, like the coal box, bathroom layout, and tiller travel limiter for instance. For a 47 foot boat, there is a surprising amount of storage space. I realize you don't consider this a project boat. However, when you are boating on a budget, there will always be some amount of renovation type project in order to keep the boat purchase price affordable. Like with your former boat, gutting and replacing the interior, probably a more accurate term would be "long term project".
I have been working with lead-acid batteries since 1968, they work okay within their limitations. Their maximum temperature is 26 degrees Celsius for maximum life, and of course, they usually end up in the engine bay; the worst possible place for high temperatures. The standard 12V, 100 amp/hour battery is only good for about a 10 amp draw (1/10th the amp/hour rating) for maximum life and efficiency. You can easily draw more power but, the output voltage sags and efficiency drops. I don't like the Lithium batteries, I have seen too many catch on fire and totally destroy whatever is nearby.
Thanks for doing all the videos, I really enjoy them - Cheerio!
I guess pretty much all boats are a 'project' of some sort as there is always something to be done. Will study the battery information. Thank you
It’s your home do what you want to it good luck can’t wait to see the rest of the vlogs 👍👍👌👌🍺🍺
Thanks 👍
Love it 👍👍🍻🍻
Thank you!
Hi both hope you enjoyed Barlaston. Thanks for showing us around your home, she looks lovely. I love the bathroom idea but, do wonder if it may be a little easier if you were to make the doors bi-fold 🤔. Take care and enjoy 😊 Not a project boat!! She just wants your personal touches ❤
Barlaston was lovely thank you, we had a int (or two) in the Plume of feathers and spent 3 nights moored in the area. The bathroom doors are a little clumsy and although they do the job perfectly a little 're design' in the future might improve things, bi-fold doors may well be a good idea! Thankyou.
Looks really good. I would not change a thing.
No major changes coming up, just a few tweaks here and there…
Good video, well explained 😊
Thank you 😄
Hi Pete, speaking from experience I would strongly recommend a solar dump set up fitted to to solar. This will take all excess solar once your domestics are charged and heat your water with it. It’s an absolute godsend for 6 - 8 months of the year.
Yes it's definitely 'on the list' but we need to sort the batteries first to make sure they are set up right.
Add a 4' deck to the stern. Lol! Looking good.
Good idea… ideal for sunbathing on!
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget 6' is better. Lol!
Hi you could do with a few pictures putting up in the bedroom and saloon make it a bit more homely And maybe a 3/4 partition instead of the head board will stop pillows falling of the bed and could be made a bit off a feature with some shelves also makes it more of a bedroom just a suggestion hope you don’t mind happy boating
Yes - as we get more settled there will be more homely touches… 😀
Am wednesdayite too lovely boat well explained, can smell the barbie mmmmm yummy, cant wait for you to set of for some adventures. Stuff the jobs get out there and enjoy yourselves and take us all ALONG for ride. .ove your vids sorry for going on a bit can be a bit if a chatterbox. 😊
Good to hear your wednesday as well! We are currently in Rotherham, but heading back to the boat tomorrow to cruise from Stoke to Liverpool over the coming weeks.
I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the excellent commentary from you both. The amount of storage and "workshop" space is remarkable.I do wonder, however, how the batteries will be accessed. Is the bottom of cupboard above them removable?
Yes, the bottom of the cupboard lifts out.. BUT the batteries are HUGE and are going to take some lifting to get them out. A job we definitely AREN'T looking forward to!
The coal shute is an interesting idea. Hopefully it is well drained or a big downpour and blockage could cause water/coal dust soup to run through the boat.
So far it seems pretty water tight as we havent had any issues with damp coal over the winter….
Thanks, nothing like steak, mushrooms, and A-1 steak sauce. Take care, Barb Delaware USA.
I had the steak, Dawn had the Mushrooms, it was all delicious thank you.
Nice to see you both back . Just wondering if you're using L E D lighting ( don't use as much power )? Impressive, ( " not a project " ) boat . 🙂
At the moment most of the lighting is ‘normal’ bulbs - I have some led fittings to fit - just not got round to it yet!
Have you considered an eberspacher or webasto? I cannot imagine not having my morning shower on our narrowboat. But I'm definitely impressed with you both x
I think we are going to install a LPG boiler- same as we had on Lyanda Lady - for instant hot water. 😃
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget OK. What was the object hanging in the corner as we looked at your impressive bathroom?
Well it wasn't what i was expecting. Other than several things that make good sense to change. Its definitely not a project like the last one. Not sure why anyone would put the only heating right at one end of a boat.
Ours was like that in a previous life. But it did have radiators.
This one did have radiators fitted - but they were literally 6ft from the log burner! So not really doing much to disperse heat down the boat! Plus they didn’t work - hence we took them out.
@WingingItBoatingonaBudget non working radiators are a definite waste of space. I nearly took ours out. But having fitted the webasto I'm glad I didn't. I just wish I had a proper calorifier so it could do the hot water as well.
@@andrewbarnard667 once I’ve got some decent batteries - and improved the solar set up I want to add a solar dump to our calorifier for ‘free’ hot water using the excess solar (when we have enough sun here in England!).
Was a nice surprise to see you today at Westport Lake. Did they get you through the tunnel ? Xx
Nice to see you too, if we'd known you were coming we'd have hung around to say hello properly! No we didn't do the tunnel today. When we got here the tunnel keeper said we could go through but we wanted to fill up with water etc today at the water point and prepare for going through tomorrow morning.
@@WingingItBoatingonaBudget have great journey. I recommend the Marcy and Peak Forest we have just had a great 3 weeks there. Xxx
@@judithkitchingman4419 unfortunately due to Marple flight being closed we’ve had to miss the Mac and peak forest… BUT its a perfect excuse for another trip in the future!
Hi, a product named "Shiny Sinks" is one of the best Brass cleaners around. It will take all the tarnish off ready for the Brasso. Trust me it's true.....
Good to know! Will have a look for some. Thank you
Blummin heck its got a coal bunker!
Yep - not many narrowboats have a coal bunker! Still looking for the basement and attic though! 😂😂😂
Its a project..........get it finished.
We will do - eventually!
That would be classed as a semi trad boat
Would you consider a roof window… xx
@@kazmorley5175 definitely I think that’s what will be looking at doing when we get back to our moorings and have the time to sort them out. 😁
What was in the secret storage?
The coal bunker?
Xx
😁
Not a project? Are you in de canal or in de Nile? 😂
haha! I might steal that joke for future use!
We still have nuts n volts
Have you got the engine fitted yet? We are heading 'your way' on the boat later in the summer - depending where your moored we might be passing....
