    Hello, I came across this video from a family member who had shown me it. It was surreal as it was my uncle's, David Mould, and his wife Doreen, who used to live full time on it at Whixhall marina for many, many years. My other uncle, Barry Mould, his older brother and was also moored at Whixhall but now just visits his family and friends there.
    Watching this video brought back so many happy memories for all our family. Couldn't believe you still have their initials on the back and kept the name. It is exactly the same on the inside as it was back then 25+ years ago.
    Anyway, we really hope you enjoy the canal boat life as much as they did.

    Izzie and Ciara,
    You guys have no idea as to how your lives will change while you travel the canals. If you have not already found out, you will soon learn that the narrowboat community is so very unique and friendly. If you ever need a hand and there is a narrowboat near by DON'T ever hesitate to knock on their door.
    As for changing Lavender's name, which you probably won't do, it MUST be done while she is out of water otherwise bad luck may follow you everywhere. You would also want to ask Lavender if she is OK taking on another name, some boats aren't and therefore cause their owners much grief. You must also make sure that Lavender is OK with the new name before making the change.
    Love lavender and respect her, she will then return the love and look after you the best she can.
    Mark
    Alberta, Canada

    You seem very practical and down to earth about your boat. All too many dive in at the deep end and end up with too many projects going on at once, so they then get overwhelmed and/or run out of funds, so stuff doesn't get done properly. You are content to use things as they are and work at one bit at a time and that is the best way for most things in life.
    Before deciding to change the bath for a new bath rather than a shower do consider your water consumption and ability to produce enough hot water. Some boaters have learned that they really can't use a bath due to it using the biggest part of a water tank at once and also their hot water system not coping. I have to say even in my house we have a bath, but we only really use the shower. We have more space in a house, so it doesn't really matter so much, but it was a waste of space.
    Somehow your boat looks wide on the inside. I know it will be the standard width, but seriously, it looks wide. Whatever you do, don't lose that look. (It also looks to have a high ceiling, but then you told us your heights and that explained that. (My wife is between you in height.)

    • @IzzieandCiara
      @IzzieandCiara  5 месяцев назад

      Hi! Thanks so much for such a thoughtful comment. I think us having such limited funds has helped us not get too carried away with the renovation work as we can only afford to do a little bit by little bit. It has allowed us to live in the space and work out what we actually need.
      In terms of the bath, to be honest its probably a bit of a pipe dream of mine (Izzie's). I know in all honesty we will rarely have the water capacity, but it would be lovely on occasion. The way our current bath has yellowed is a bit off putting to me but that's just me being shallow! I imagine it will be the very last thing on our priority list!
      I think the width in the boat comes from us not having big bulky furniture like a dinette or huge sofa- which itself comes with its positives and negatives. But we definitely prefer it this way. In terms of headroom, the boat definitely has more than other boats as tall friends have had no problems when coming over, but it definitely looks exaggerated with us inside!
      Thanks again for such a thoughtful comment, hope you are having a nice week 😁
