Dis you ever shoot any of the Konica 3200 or the Kodak Royal 1000? I have pushed both to 6400 with good results. I have also pushed Tri-X to 6400 and would tell people that I processed it in boiling Accufine for 30 minutes, LOL!!! These days, I miss the original Ektar 25.
Got my first roll back the other week. Shot it at 3200 indoors in the evening - got a couple keepers. You're right about having to nail the metering, if you miss the shots get dark fast. I'm working on a second roll at 1600 now to see how the contrast/mid tones change.
This film is actually rated an ISO of 800. the P stands for "push" meaning that it is designed to be pushed, according to Kodak up to 25600 ISO even. And for this reason I would say this could definitely be an everyday shooter. I heard that p3200 looks best at 800. Pair this with Tmax 100 and you have the entire spectrum covered, no need for any other BW film!

Paul, I am confused now. I purchased a roll of this and am going to use it at the NC Transportation Museum for a special Nighttime photo shoot of a Streamlined Steam Engine, the 611. Film will be lab developed. Should I set my light meter to 800 or 3200? Plan to use a Nikon F2. They will have special lighting for the event. Pretty sure I will be only one using film.
@@dirtywater5336 so what’s being mentioned in this thread is that 800 iso gets great results - therefore to do this, rate at 800 when shooting then check a dev chart and develop at 800 timings.
Thanks Drew. I purchased a few rolls of TMX3200. However it’s worth mentioning that Ilford was always loyal to film shooters, So it deserves our loyalty and not hurting its business whenever Kodak /Fuji decides to have a film removed or reintroduced on a whim (Acros, anyone?)
When I shot this film in the old days I only used it inside like in church or a wedding reception. My husband would push or pull(?) It when he developed it to get the most out of it. It was amazing.
Thanks for this review boss I know it takes time to put them together. I have to say though broad daylight is not the best test for this film, we really don't know what it looks like when pushed to 3200. I guess the good thing is the aperture is so small that everything will be in focus for Street LOL

Deffffinitely grainy! Love it! I've got three rolls I'm anxious to burn through soon. Gotta empty out some HP5 & Superia first though. There's definitely alot to like about a new camera. It's like a new car! Ohhhh, the smell!!!! You might consider an ND filter if you're going to shoot P3200 in daylight. That way, you can bring down your exposure some and maybe play with DOF more. Otherwise, it's a low-light film.
Why would you shoot 3200 film outside in bright sunlight? I suppose you could use an ND big stopper to cut down the light but then you will have focusing difficulties. 3200 film is grainy compared to much slower films. Great for low light scenes or natural low light portraits. If you want a classic grainy photojournalist look try Tri-X 400. Try Pan F 50 with abstract scenes / landscape / architectural where there is no movement.
I just purchased a canon A-1 off eBay and I’m super pumped to get it and try it out. Only thing is the battery door is broken. Do you know how to or have any recommendations on having it replaced?
KingJvpes I was thinking about it. They have some cheap replacement doors on eBay. The top right of the door is broken off. So the right of the battery is exposed.
Chad anugga oh yea, buying a new door is probably the best bet! Shouldn’t be too hard to install. I’ve seen a couple of tutorials here on RUclips that you could use as reference

Peter Charles I’ve shot and developed 800 iso in HC-110. Noticeably less grain but not much. You’ll definitely get a more fine grain shooting hp5 at 800 speed

I just switched over to Kodak 3200 from Ilford Delta 3200. I havent shot it yet but from all the articles I can find comparing the two, Kodak has higher contrast, finer grain, and is sharper overall. I was never quite impressed with Delta 3200 but it was really all that was available on the mass market until recently. Looking forward to shooting this stuff. Also love that camera. I have an A-1 as well. Very well built and as you mentioned, buttery smooth operation
As PB said, 800 ISO is the 'real' speed of this film. Daniel Milnor (Shifter) has an excellent review of this film, including developers and other darkroom info.
Hey, I just started shooting film and i feel like my Canon a1 light meter is off. Ive checked with an app and the camera gives different readout, also I've used my digital camera and I feel my canon a1 is always over exposing the shots.
great videos my friend have been watching you for a while now. I own a Minolta SR-T Super which I bought from eBay a while back and on my 2nd roll. I need to travel more and start shooting more film. What do you think of that camera? It's fully manual and mechanical, so it takes time to take a photograph which is good and bad in a way.
Great shots Bro! I've used this film with the Olympus Infinity Stylus Zoom 140 and Argus C4 rangefinder with good results. I also enjoyed shooting this at night with good results as well. Glad you reunited with the A1. I miss my A1.

Such a nice film. Nice low contrast at a high speed, and nice grain. I guess its what you would expect from tmax. I also followed your advice (ig dm) and bought an om2n! (Nikon to #olympusgang lol) With a 28 2.8 and a 24 2.8. Ill try to get a 50mm in the future. Should i go 1.4 or 1.8? 1.2 is out of the budget lol. One of the best things about this is how fast it is to develop compared to pushing a 400 speed film. 9 minutes for 1600 and 11 for 3200 is so much faster than pushing TriX or Hp5 a couple stops.
Got it loaded in my A1 now. Most shots are at night in my fave bar. I shot a couple of shots in bright daylight at f22. Cant wait to see how it comes out.

samfierce hmmm all rounder definitely a zoom but if you wanna improve your photography a prime can still eat close or wide but you gotta use your legs and mind to compose :)

It always was a gorgeous film, it would be good to see it compared with Delta 3200 at night. Try Rodinal 50:1 for your next development. Great video.
why shooot 3200 in broad daylight?

ND filters are best for high iso film. I always have a 4 stop ND filter for these purposes.

I just got my grandfathers old A-1 for my first film slr and it needs a bit of work. You must have paid a lot for a NOS one but I bet it was worth it.

Shoot it handheld at night 1/30s, f/2.8 or lower and get some sweet low light photos.
