This video isn't sponsored, but I'd like to give credit where it's due. The timing belt kit is Gates part number TCKWP321M. It includes the PowerGrip belt, and the water pump has a metal impeller. I rented the tool set from TuneMyEuro. And I bought the hardened harmonic balancer bolts from Metalnerd.
In the video, you can see some paint marks on the camshaft and fuel pump sprockets. Those must have been from the previous timing belt replacement. The shop must not have had the special tools, so they winged it. Not a good idea!

The water pump for my 2001 vw water pump didn't just pop out.

I noticed the jack stands in your video. It looks like the same ones I had and my broke while my car was on it (a 2012 VW CC.) It turns out that those have been recalled and replaced and recalled again. See ruclips.net/video/I9xUP2-pXro/видео.html

Yeah, when I heard about the recall, I checked my jackstands immediately. Thankfully, they aren't the faulty ones (different part number). But I inspected them anyway, and they look OK. That said, I do appreciate you looking out for your fellow man. 👍
