Thanks for reassuring me on this. The first review I watched a couple make fun of this product even laughing at it everytime it dropped ice then they actually returned it. I sense those people have a habit of not being impressed and demand 80 bucks be spent worth every penny.. so aside from that. You've got my thumbs up
I bought this ice make a few months ago because the ice maker on my freezer does not have a filter. We live in military housing so a new fridge is not an option. Now I use this to fill an ice bin in the freezer so that we have good clean tasting ice at all times. We also have two of those Kirkland brand water pitchers that we use for everything. We go through tons of ice since having this machine because the ice is so much better than what was coming out of freezer. We also take it with us when we RV.
Had one of these for a couple years. Use it 24/7. It will get dirty pretty quick. Perhaps unsafe to drink / eat the ice out of. Black mold will start growing within a few weeks. What I do, is every week or so, I do 50/50 water vinegar. And let that run through the machine a few hours. Then drain, and fill with water. Drain and fill a few times with just water (running one or two cycles in between). Then fill and keep using as normal again. If you don't do this, in a couple months, it will be very nasty.
Yeah of course, we still have the ice maker on everyday and works great still. One thing we changed now from the video is what kind of water we use, we now put distilled water in it because calcium over time starts to build up.
You are right, they should have put something on it for the scup. We drilled a small hole in the handle and stuck a hook on the side of the ice maker for it to hang on.
Running 24/7 it lasts for abot 18 months. I am on my 3rd one now and theis time I bought a vacuum thermos and I put the ice in there and I only have to run the machine maybe two three times a day. I have run just before bedtime so i wake up and can have ice in my drink. I luckily found a hot/cold thermos that matched the color of my pale blue machine.
My $200 samsung ice maker in the freezer stopped working. I bought an icemaker for $150 I think this ice maker will serve us better than the built in fridge unit
Own 2 of these 1 is in the camper next to coffee maker and a small wet bar. The other is in the wet bar in our movie theater room. If I was fancy smanchy I’d have one in the garage but I’m not typically a mixed drink kinda guy when mowing the lawn or building things…..that’s more for beer
@@ChefDawg we don’t want to waste freezer space with a bag of ice in the camper and multiple stories don’t allow drinks to travel well so wet bar was a necessity also the lg and kitchen aid fancy ice fridges are extremely expensive and I’ve herd they break a lot
I have one of these and that wasnt a good comparison for the size differences in the pieces of ice. There is definitely a difference in the sizes. My problem is the small setting on mine produces the larger pieces while the large setting produces the smaller ones. But dont get me wrong, I've had it for almost 4 months now and it's a good product.
I bought one of these August 2021 for my daughter's birthday. It works great. The only problem is the silver coating on the Evaporator Fingers that the ice forms on is peeling off and leaving flakes of the coating all in the machine and ice. I don't feel it's from the quality of water since only bottled water has been used. It's going in the trash today.
hello y have a same problem small and large as same size, brand new machine, small worked 1 time but after small and large as same size. this is a problem with this model
This Frigidaire makes WET ICE. Not "solidly" frozen like other higher quality units. This means that the CUBES MELT FAST once placed in your drinks. But, if that's not a deal breaker, a good price for what you get.
@@ChefDawg thank you. How long til they melt tho? With the shape and size trying to get a sense of how long it’ll be in my drink as an actual ice chunk
Ours doesn't heat up, it just pumps water to the tray and emptys then fills again... whenever we clean I use soap and clean the inside making sure to not make the outside wet
@@ChefDawg thank you. I was hoping our new Frigidaire self cleaning with the 30 minute clean cycle might make things easier. But I don’t think it worked. I cleaned it with sprayed on bleach/water.
@@ChefDawg so my husband woke up in the middle of the night thinking our new “Ice machine” was a burglar rattling around downstairs. He shot up out of bed and grabbed his Glock 🤣🤣🤣 I seriously have never laughed so hard in my life. Worth every penny 😂
There have been many others that has mentioned that same issue you have with the manual missing , luckily you can easily lookup the manual online but there's not much in the manual besides some basic user descriptions and cleaning instructions along with a warning about letting it sit for a while before turning on if the box was flipped on it's side or upside-down due to the refrigerant in the unit.
The ice is really low density. It melts super fast and dilutes your drink. Its OK for water, or something you plan to knock back in one gulp, But its crap for any kind of booze or softdrink you don't want diluted all to hell. The ice is so low density its sort of between snow and ice. Lots of air in the little thimbles it makes.
If you leave this ice maker on you will get pink mold he you can’t clean. Have run vinegar through it and still see pink mold that is impossible to reach. Poor design.
It has a self cleaning mode. Just hold the on/off button down for 5 seconds and make sure you have water in it. You must allow it 30 minutes to go through the cleaning mode. I hope this helps!
Update, check the description to see more!

Lmao man I just watched that video! Those people were bad.
Lol, i think i just watched that video. Totally agree with what you said.
Just wasted my time watching that video as well I’m pretty sure they were both on something before starting that review 😂, glad I found this one 🎉
We are using it a lot more than we thought we would!

We bought a 44lb ice maker. We are a large family. The machine keeps up and I never thought I would enjoy icy drinks this much.
That's great👍 What we love about our is it's portability!

We have noticed that too

You could put a small command hook on the side for the scoop :)
We will probably do that!
There's no hole in the scoop handle so you would need to drill a hole in it.
@@josephbennett3482 I did this; very easy.
You helped me with my decision. Having an ice machine will help me with my fluid intake. Thank you!!

Good idea actually
I just got this ice maker and I put a little stick on magnet on the scoop handle and it sticks right to the side of the machine

We use ours for a trailer so much better not having bags of ice!
@@ChefDawg facts that’s more steaks and chicken wings I can fit in the freezer
Great review chief dawg.... 👍 👌 👍 👌
I didn't know it had a cleaning mode 😂 thank you for your video. I never read the manual.
I was looking up videos because my ice tasted weird definitely didnt know there was a self cleaning mode!
Thanks for the review. I was looking at the larger one on Amazon. Still on the fence.
We like it more every day

Ours only does one size... big

Great for mancave bar or gaming room
It Would be great for those! Lol

Is anyone else’s doing the actual cycle but it won’t make ice, like it fills the cup up but the water just runs back out.
Take it back... shouldn't do that.
Take it back, your refrigerant is gone or the refrigerant compressor is broken.
The ice on the small setting is not as thick as the large setting.

How fast do you know?
Produces ice within 8 minutes

Seems normal to me
Thanks for the video
You bet
my ice looks clear not like that do i have to wait longer for them to look like yours
If it's clear I'd say that's a good thing... but we use filtered water to fill it with.
Most important thing is the self cleaning function, any info?????
On how self cleaning mode works?

My first batch of 8 takes no less than 20 minutes to make. Not 5 minutes as adverstissd.
Just grabbed one of these today
Fyi...I use filtered water to fill it up...definitely improves taste

Of Course thanks for watching!
So is this worth is guys?? And how about its electricity consumption???
We use it a lot so id say yes... no clue on energy but can't imagine it's much
Should we leave ice in this 24/7?
We do and its been about a year and its working great... the only thing we do is fill it up with distilled water instead
@@ChefDawg alright I can transfer ice to the icebox, just started the first cycle on our machine
Yeah it'll just melt fast
Did yours come with a user manual? Mine did not.

Ours works pretty good
We use ours all the time... works great
How much does it weigh?
Around 5 or 6 lbs
Bought one for my daughters birthday last year and she had it less than 6 months before it stop making ice . Very disappointed
That sucks... take it back
I was wondering how to clean ice maker machine
Something we actually do now is use distilled water, it makes it so you don't have to clean it out that much

Mine tastes like plastic
Our did too a little what we did was just wash it with soap and water then just ran it for a little bit
But now I use filtered water when I fill it up so it's clean as I can get it.
The answer is NO, Hell NO! breaks easy if you leave it on for one full day.
