  • This is another of the rarest and earliest video clip of Keith Urban and Jenny Wilson performing that I have ever seen. Keith and Jenny won best duet in Tamworth in the early 80's.
I am not sure of his age in this but from 1977-1980 Reg Lindsay’s Country Homestead was filmed in colour at QTQ 9 studios in Brisbane. I believe this performance of Tennessee Pulleybone and later Waylon Jennings “The Door is Always Open” is from that show. This would put Keith’s age at anywhere from 10 - 13 year of age.
I really love this clip and I hope you do too.
I am a huge Keith Urban Fan and hail from Brisbane where Keith grew up. I am also an avid collector of KU memorabilia which you can view on my newly created facebook page:

I remember seeing this kid on that show. Australian Rock Music had all but died, Disco was taking over but there was a brief gap of maybe 3 years when counrty music really took a hold and almost pulled off a coup. It lacked sexy singers, young Keithy with his looks was destined for stardom. Disco took over in Australia and CM went back to run its quiet race. Reg knew he was going big places, the rest of us, well we never seen a kid play guitar without looking before. Theres a video somewhere of the first time he plays electric guitar, its amazing.

Love memories and observations like yours. Keith certainly continued his journey to achieving world wide recognition for his guitar playing, and songwriting skills. I have similar memories, as an 11 yr old in 1963, when l first saw the Bee Gees, as teenagers on Bandstand. As a kid from the bush, l could not believe, that kids could have that sort of opportunity in life. Did you see Keith on the recent Bee Gee tribute show, doing 'To Love Somebody". One of the most amazing performances l have ever witnessed?

This is around the time Dave and Sugar were charting with the song. I was young then too.

Thank you for posting this clip and the other from Reg Lindsay's Country Homestead as I have not seen either in years and not sure that I have a copy. I think (THINK!!) I was 16 and Keith would have been 12. In the visible audience watching are my back shots of my mum and Keith's dad, Bob. Many thanks for the memories. Jen Wilson x
