    I still have my 10-22 that my father gave me at 16 years old.My father was in the military and taught me safety first and the responsibility of how to handle a firearm.

    I love the 10/22. Didn't do much to mine, but it would not feed Federal bulk ammo reliably until I changed the extractor to Volquartsen after some research. I figured it was the extractor due to the fact it was dropping the fired case as soon as it extracted, which jammed the action up.
    MIne's just the basic carbine but it actually shoots very well indeed. I have the Nikon Prostaff Rimfire on it.

    I received one for my bd in 1965. ser# 17,499. Couldn’t tell you how many bricks it has shot with rare malfunctions = not enough powder in case. It being old and me being shaky it’ll do 4 “ groups @ 100 yards with cci mini mags and Remington golden bullets. The barrel being floated and some trigger work are the only mods. Has taken lots of game and predators, great rifle for the beginner or the seasoned with reliability unsurpassed!!

    It bugs me so much to see scopes mounted so high lmao I know it's not my gun but put some low rings on it ! You can get rid of that pad too

    I don't have 1. I have a Henry octagon barrel. Great squirrel gun. Been wondering about the 10/22 in a target model with a bull barrel. Do you know anything about the target models? I don't like the plastic trigger group stuff of today as I prefer the metal.

    Nice video and thanks for doing it.
    Quick questions. I watched your previous vids on free floating the barrel and bedding the action on your 10/22. Is this the same rifle in this vid? In the bedding video I noticed that you bedded a portion of the stock at the barrel. Did you ever shoot the rifle with bedded action and the fully floated barrel? If so did you gain any accuracy from bedding the small portion of the stock at the barrel?
    Thanks again.

    • @israelepstein2655
      @israelepstein2655 9 лет назад

      Hi Ear! This is the same rifle in the vid, and yes, the barrel has a "pad" of bedding. Although most think I'm crazy, it is quite common to place a barrel pad in when doing bedding on a 10/22. This is done because the action is really a fraction of the weight of the barrel itself, and so, the rear of the action is actually floated. I did test the gun with just a free-floated barrel and no being at the front of the action, and the accuracy was good, but not as good as with the current bedding job. Finally, the ammo makes all the difference in the world, and each gun likes its own pill! Izzy

    In a world where names change the function of an item, why put a name on something that will make it ileagle to own? I have had several 10-22's and have played with different stocks and barrels and have always gone back to stock items or sold them as modified to someone that liked the modified item. I have one Butler Creek stock that I favor over all the others on the make it look exotic or a weapon of war. It just looks like a hunting rifle which is what it is. I don't have any or don't want anything in my posesson that I want some person of the law to have a reason to take it from me because it looks like an "assault weapon" although it is only a regular hunting rifle. Nuff said!

    Hi nice video. I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I have had a 10/22 for 10 years or more, mine was very picky about magazines, some 10/22's are not. I could shoot any ruger mag but all aftermarket mags were very inconsistent.
    My friend has one that will shoot with any mag even the crap plastic lip mags and it is bone stock.
    I gave him all my experimental mags that failed in my rifle "Tac sol "metal and plastic and others and he shot them all no problem.
    I decided to up grade mine with kidd parts my teenage niece loves shooting it but the trigger sucked. I put kidd 1 stage trigger and kidd barrel and a few other parts Kidd and Vanqurtsen "i am sure thats not spelled right lol" and wow now I can shoot any mag also its very cool. I am not sure if it was the trigger or barrel that made the difference I suspect the trigger and the perfect mag lockup its probably both that and the barrel feed ramp. The accuracy is unbelievable, less than a minute with good ammo and I was just trying to make it cool for my niece to shoot.

    • @MrOutdoorsman1234
      @MrOutdoorsman1234 9 лет назад

      Try Rugers new bx-25 and they make the bx-15 for the charger now there just as reliable as the original mags

    • @tazblink
      @tazblink 9 лет назад

      Yes I could use the BX-25's they shot well. But before the bx-25's were available any of the aftermarket mag would not shoot. After my kidd upgrades I can even shoot the shitty plastic lip mags reliably.

    100 yards opened up big time / dynapoint at 50 looks great / check to see if your barrel is not touching the stock 100 yards should be tighter and it does look like your the problem at least at shooting haha / invest in a higher magnification scope - mullier is a good price happy shooting

    • @otetechie
      @otetechie 8 лет назад +1

      I guess you missed the whole part of the video about bedding your barrel?
      I can guarantee his barrel is touching the stock.

      Shooting with a bipod and off the shoulder brings in breathing and heart rate wobble issues. If there is any wind, that will spread 100 yard groups by an inch or better. You can bring your other arm across under the stock and brace you off hand on your shooting shoulder. That will help prone target shooting but to show the tightest the gun will group needs front and rear support. Opinion expressed is mine, your results may vary.

    sir the word I'd rather not use is "weapon" to describe a firearm that is just that until used in such a manner that would deem it necessary to describe it as a weapon to acurately describe the intended use of that firearm, in Canada it is almost illegal to defend oneself with or without a weapon such as a firearm or a bat for that matter and so one can easily see how onocent people could inciminate themselves in future through word usage of the present or past, there is no law here that specifically allows one to use their God or universal right to defend oneself with a firearm, you may say this is inane and some may say history is destined to repeat I. e Hitler taking away all guns away from law abiding citizens just before he sent many away for a permanent vacation, ,, catch my drift?

    • @dandahermitseals5582

      The term " clip" is reserved for firearm ignorant people. Clips were used as stripper guides to top load early rifles from the top through the open breach into the ammo box--" nagazine" below the bolt to feed the action. Learn the topic, or just watch.
