I've watched everything you've posted to RUclips, I think, but I absolutely know this series will be EPIC: you (and Erin) helped me get through a heart attack and subsequent cancer diagnosis. Here it is about 18 months later, I'm healed, cancer-free, 65 lbs lighter, and ready to camp, hike, and bikepack again. I credit you and Jim Baird's channel with getting me where I am today. I can't wait for everything you have planned!

Dear Jon, my life as a single father and police officer in western Germany does not allow me such existential experiments. But I'm happy about my regular "breaks" into nature. I wish you both many more realizable dreams, always good health and constant professional fulfillment. Alexander from the lower mountain range Eifel.

Just recently found your videos. Saw only your solos which were so interesting. Then when I ran across videos with Erin I was even more hooked watching all the beauty u seen. My husband has been an avid backpacker in Canada and Alaska as well as our home state of Idaho over a 25 yr period. He relates to a lot of the beautiful country you have filmed as he has canoed and backpacked with a friend. They always had the best stories to tell from their trips. So it was so interesting following along with u and Erin. Looking forward to this new video. I’m still picking a different video every night.

    Hi John,
I’ve watched everything you have produced over time!
My name is Stan and originally from southern Ontario (St Thomas) farming! I have a cottage on Georgian bay (Owen sound) with a 100 acre hardwood maple forest that the Amish work on taping and making maple syrup.
Today I live mostly in BC.
I return about 3 months of the year back to Owen Sound..
I spend a lot of time on Pitt Lake, camping, fishing, hiking, plus pan for gold. It’s a pass time between hiking and fishing.
I really love watching your Ontario camping adventures as I’ve been to some of your locations years ago!
Moon river is a place I always went once a year back in the early 80’s. The moon river basin water falls is awesome..
Anyway, keep it up and I will be watching!
Yes bring the wife along as we enjoy seeing you together!
    Cheers
    Stan..

I’m going to make a comparison of you to someone I admire. Your journey and where you chose to transition to with such great speed and evolution reminds me of the life of Tom Thomson. I admire him for his art, courage and adventuring soul. He evolved as one of the best typographers in downtown Toronto to pursue the life of an artist exploring the wilderness and challenging himself to evolve in his painted work. He painted hundreds of masterpieces in a very short time and became an inspiration to many young artists and an icon of Ontario… and Canada. You are defenitely up there in terms of content creation in this genre… you’re adventurous and you’ve pushed yourself to break out of an ordinary life behind a desk somewhere in the city. I’ll bet you two would get along very well. Anyway I’d take this as a compliment and I hope you do. I am fascinated with Tom Thomson as a person and as an artist. Amazing artist! And you are two in your own way.

0:38 All right! See ya, city! This explanation, how to, how come, why so, why not so, other other part of your idea is a damn good one. Keep up the good ideas, Papa Jon. Repetition is contagious. In some video you and Erin tested how long you could stay in Superior wearing the dry suits with striking results. I wonder what safety resource could use that footage and information for the spread of safety, if you catch my drift, sir.

Loved the first episode!! Very interesting to hear your back story. We're considerably older but still reminisce about how we spent so much of our childhood outdoors. We ended up living most of our lives in Toronto due to work. Every time I drove to the north end of the city and saw that mileage sign to Algonquin Park it was all I could do to turn back to 'reality'. We took our three children on a canoe trip every summer in Algonquin but gave it up when they left home. We finally broke free from the city when we retired a few years ago, if only to a large rural property northeast of Toronto. Your videos have inspired us and reignited our love of the outdoors...to the point where we have booked our canoe trip dates for Algonquin this September. Thank you so much for sharing your passion and reminding us how so lucky we are to have the Canadian wilderness at our doorstep and brining the joy of the outdoors back to us.
