Wow. Never realized how different the Royal Ballet's choreography for this role was. They are all beautiful dancers, but I think I prefer the choreography executed by the first two dancers. Even though I love Calvert it felt very rushed.
I think that tempo, in stepanova's performence is much better, also the way the stage look like. The lights, the costume, the balance, the beauty of every single cm on the stage, everything is much better, and that's what caused stepanova, dancing freely, control technique and also smile. The other ballerina, suffers every second on stage, that's clearly sure, she needs to run after the tempo...this is not easy😔
Being Russian trained obviously I appreciated Yulia Stepanova’s extension and arabesque lines, but I was surprisingly in awe of Marie-Agnès Gillot’s control, musicality especially on her left leg développés à la seconde avec la jambe gauche ! About the third ballerina 🩰: I’ll remember my mom’s advice - if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all 🤐
@@ariannarodriguez9400 I think the video must have been edited after upload. I didn’t know you could do that, but Gillot is no longer in it. “The third ballerina” presumably refers to Calvert.
It’s Stepanova for me. There’s something almost otherworldly in her phrasing and quality of movement. I don’t personally like the Royal Ballet version of this. It just doesn’t flow, in my opinion.
I admire the sleek and quite musical dancer - - in Yulia Stepanova - - tho I'm tending also to favour Marie-Agnes Gillot the French star dancer and she dances - - with such intensity and flexibility. I love all the three dancers - - including Claire Calvert. Thanks much @ DanceLine Ballet.
I could only see two vsriations and Calvert's was lovely but looked a little rushed and not a fan of the fouette towards the end. Stepanova's traditional seemed relaxed and controlled as the Lilac Fairy should be. She is the leader so everything must be calm and deliberate.
Stepanova was my favorite for facial expressions...she just looks so happy and sweet ☺️🤧😍 as for movement I thought Gillot had more dynamic with those small- to-bigger kinda sissones, overall very sensitive 💜💜💜💜💜🩰🩰🩰🤧🤧😍😍😍😍
I prefer the Russian choreography over the Royal Ballet version - it seems smoother & more majestic. The Royal Ballet (Calvert) is a bit choppier - no reflection on her dancing, I just don’t like the choreography. 🤗
Soooo I'm not sure if this is meant to be a comparison/compilation video but if it is I wonder if you should do videos with all the same choreography, While Calvert's facial expression isn't my favorite, I am astounded by the speed and fluidity she can dance those, overly complicated difficult sequences and still make it light and graceful like Wow girl 😮😮😮😮 beautiful video anyways!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️🩰🩰🩰🩰
Actually, all these three are so different! The Royal Ballet version is especially lovely because the ballerina is more in focus and also the king and queen react to her. Claire Calvert is so graceful! The second version from Opera de Paris isn't even interpreted as Lilac Fairy! That is why, Marie-Agnes Gillot doesn't wear a purple/lilac dress - she is just one of the good fairies - the actual Lilac Fairy in Nurejev's version is - as far I remember it - not danced on pointe, but only a character mime. Yulia Stepanova is also good on her way, but the choreography doesn't put her with all this French court and her fairy companions not as much into focus for my taste...
I like the russian ballet the best, but for me i like calvert's fluidity even with this rush feeling coreo, for me there is too much power on stepanova movements but love her expressions and lines

I'm not a huge fan of their style, but it's unfortunate how few French dancers you use in your comparisons. Why not show the delicate version of Eve Grinsztajn for the POB that's available on youtube? Same wise, Agnes Letestu (La Bayadere) and Aurelie Dupont (Paquita, Don Quixote, Tchaikovsky pas de deux) are sorely missing from some of these videos.
Claire's variation looked so rushed it almost gave me anxiety lol. Very messy and unstable, she doesn't seem to be in control of her body here, and I don't like her expression either. Maybe she was just nervous.
Calvert takes this one. Stepanova’s tempo is so glacial that she has me checking my watch. How do the Russians succeed in making Sleeping Beauty unwatchable?
Of the two dancers I prefer Stepanova and the choreography to which she dances. Unfortunate that we no longer can see Gillot. I found Gillot's tempo and costume [neither is her fault] too fast and ugly. I didn't think she had the control required for Lilac fairy. The choreography seemed rushed and frantic which is the opposite of what I think the Lilac Fairy should be.

ALL ARE BEAUTIFUL HERE!💯♥️LOVE Gillot's control, Love Calverts combo!!!👍🏽🔥
Fantastic performance by three talented ballerinas.

Spot on! Me too.
What do you mean by the third ballerina?

@@sarahakin oh ok! I didn’t see a third ballerina, but thank you! I didn’t know that could be done either
All are very beautiful and each displayed a talented fairy with lovely artistry. 💖💖💖
Number one...GILLOT she dances as a real fairy, she is in her role, Second...Stepanova. Three stars! Bravas

En lugar de Clare deberia estar Mariznella Nuñez...ella solia hacer un hada lila impecable.
