    I keep returning to this wonderful performance of Maple Leaf rag, it is lovely! It has so many small and tasteful alterations from the original. I wish I could give it thumbs up every time I listen to this! Thank you Ethan!

      This one and The Entertainer. I could hear them a few times every day and still they'll remain my single two favourite pieces on piano.
      Great rendition, Ethan. Nice tempo, good dynamics.

      People who play like this basically have ocd and it takes the form of practicing again and again and again.. been there. If is not ocd it’s insanity. You have to be disciplined like a mofo but you can do it.

      Been learning it for 9 months and still havent gotten to it. Finishing up part C and getting into part D. Its just a lot of playing the same parts over again. Crazy frustrating

    THAT was the FIRST TIME I ever heard ANY ragtime played with expression! Quite enjoyable-why don't more pianists play with expression instead of playing at break neck speed from beginning to end?

    • @alaeriia01
      @alaeriia01 Год назад

      Maple Leaf is traditionally a barn-burner. If you want a rag played with real expression, look up Solace.

    • @mollyfairchild8761
      @mollyfairchild8761 Год назад +1

      @@alaeriia01 I've listened, I think, to all Joplin rags many times. No matter how they're played or by whom, a Joplin rag, is a Joplin rag. A banquet for my ears & Solace is dessert

      @@alaeriia01 Maple Leaf Rag, along with most other rags, weren’t meant to be “barn burners”. It was the dominant pop music of its time and was played at a steady pace that any listener could enjoy and dance along to. Some players burn through these pieces when they want to show off, but I don’t much enjoy that approach.

      yeah, i broke a string and apparently when they put it a new string, it goes out of tune immediately and you have to get it tuned multiple times in a short period of time. very annoying
