My mother in law has COPD and she started having significant flair ups. After a couple of months of trying to figure out what was causing them, it turned out to be a new mattress! I had never heard of such a thing until that happened but I can attest to the off gassing being a concern.
Usually our kids and my husband enjoy eating frozen pizza or hot dogs when I fly out of town for a day. Since this year, most of my meals have become homemade, home baked, home canned, or mostly organic, I was greeted at the door with a mild groan about how there was nothing but junk food for dinner last night...get THIS; it was my teenagers! 🤣🥰 The relief as I tossed asparagus into a pan and roasted ham just cracked me up even more! They used to politely moan about my natural foods and think I was kinda funny. Now they perk up with curiosity and don't think twice about trying a red pasta, new bread recipe, or homemade candy. It's awesome to be on the other side of this shift now. But it looks like I'll have to let them use my canned beef stew or chicken chili next time...or pre-bake a lasagne.
Thank you Lisa, I love watching you work, you just glide around on the videos, but I sometimes think of the serene swan, effortlessly making progress above the water, with his little legs paddling like billyo under the surface!
I had to smile widely when your son came and went directly to the stove and peeped into the kettles to see what’s for dinner 😊 we raised four boys( and three girls )and having them in the kitchen looking and tasting brings back sweet memories.
Lisa, you are so incredible. I strive to be a mother like you. Caring, compassionate, beautiful, and elegant. 💜 Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family.
ahh I LOVE your videos too much! thank you for taking the time out of your busy mom life and sharing a bit of it with us! you are so real, its like a breath of fresh air!!

Love watching you cook but I was so worried you were going to cut your fingers while chopping because the board was slipping. You can put a damp kitchen towel under it to keep it steady.
All of your videos are inspiring and encouraging to me! This particular one encouraged me to come up with a general meal idea in my head, but make the recipe my own. We are a family of four, but I often get overwhelmed by following a precise recipe or if I’m missing an ingredient (it’s always 1 ingredient, isn’t it!). My goal is to learn to cook instinctively and work with what Ive got, which I’m sure is a skill that comes with practice.
Always fun to see these videos. I have to get used with cooking to the daylight saving as well. Our kitchen is north facing so it gets dark so fast. So I try doing the things that I need light for as a meal prep earlier in the day and the actual cooking with the lamp on.
Great video, I cook the same way, use whatever I have so my recipes vary. It drives people crazy that need a recipe and I tell them to use what they have in whatever amount ;=) You are a hard worker and a beautiful homemaker!
I consider the acts of love I perform daily to be the sacraments of daily life. And from a merely creaturely perspective, many of them are requirements for us all to continue to live healthfully or at all. Plus laundry and dishes breed overnight in the dark. I love that with pot pies, salads, soups, stews and assorted other catch-all dishes it is possible to use so many leftovers well. I am insufficiently sorry about confessing that I use leftover pieces of pasta and rice (and other grains) at the bottoms of jars or other packages in the pantry (broken bits even) to bulk-up soups, too. I am with you on the quick-to-defrost meat products.
We have been on the go so much lately that we have gotten fast food. When I began to be able to cook again my family continued to tell me THANK YOU FIR COOKING!!
I just love watching you cook , you make it seem like so much fun. I know you’re an excellent cook. I’m such a picky eater. I wouldn’t have eaten those eggs either.😂😂😂😂
I’m glad you touched on what cuts of meat are right for your family. We raise about 6-8 pigs a year and sell what we don’t eat. If you’re thinking about buying from a local farmer, do it! It’s so nice to have cuts of meat that you know you like and to have meat in the freezer and not worry about the everyday fluctuations of prices right now. Plus I know I can’t go back to buying grocery store pork. The quality is good, but I think ours tastes better. 😁 Plus, your farmer knows the cuts and can help you decide (also the butcher will know too!).
Your food looks a lot like mine! I made the chicken noodle tonight with home made einkorn noodles... I was using up eggs when I made them and stuck them in the freezer, guess what my hens aren’t laying right now either!! I had my chicken bones in the crockpot all night(I had picked off the meat ) that Broth made some delicious soup.
The last meal sounded really Yum.😋 Last night, I cooked cabbage, bacon , sausage and seasons to taste, cooked it down , and added it over the top of mashed potatoes. Sounds odd, but it’s really good.😋

Just found you recently and I enjoyed what I have seen. Could you tell me if the butter you used is pretty good . I have seen commercials for it and have seen it at a store I shop at but it is pricey like everything else lately. Oh I mentioned you to another podcaster because of your sourdough bread and she said you were one of her favorites. I am pretty sure you will be mine too. Take care
Thank you for mentioning another channel like yours to watch!! 🤍🤍🥰 I just love your videos. I have made so many of your sourdough things. Do you have a video on your crackers? I can't seem to get those flat enough, and they stick to the parchment paper. So I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I spray the parchment paper, but it's still hard to spread it. But they are so good, and my family just loves them. I add ranch seasoning, and seasoning salt to them, and they are so yummy. I just wish I could get them crisper. Lol
If your sister or anyone in her circle retire a breeding sow they are normally made into sausage as they are older and would be tough. You might want to put feelers out as that would be a great for your needs.
For those of us who eat a lot of ground beef buying a portion of an older cow from my sister’s farm is perfect as they refer to them as “hamburger cows” and usually harvest them for themselves and their farm workers. These older animals aren’t usually advertised so you need to ask around the farms near you.
