DIY Monsters Inc Sulley and Mike Life Size Cardboard Cutouts I Birthday Party Decoration

- Hi Guys,
So not only did I make the James P. Sullevan with Dollar Tree foam boards but also I made the Mike Wazoski Life size cutouts and also foam board Monsters Inc characters to decorate my son's birthday party. The key to blowing up a picture you get from a google search is the resolution of the image. It should be high in the 2,000 range not the 500 range, or else the image will look pixelated. The amount of money you spend on a character cutout or even a cut out of yourself is about $40. But my cut outs only cost $12 for Sulley and $8 for Mike. So there is a difference there. of course you might be able to see some of the lines where the image was cut but for its purpose which is to take pictures with, it will do the trick because on camera it looks like it was printed as one.

Whoever needs to get the Mike and Sully cut out. I reviewed it and was able to unable the sharing for the pdf file. So it should work now for anyone who needs it.

Thank you for the support and I am glad that these videos are helping you guys out. I have downloaded the Sully pdf file for your convenience. Also I have found that colored prints at the UPS are much cheaper than Staples or Office Depot, because you can also use your AAA discount. But if you search a small printing shop in your area you might even get it for much less.

Second question, when creating a larger image like Sully, what criteria do you usually follow with regards to resolution?…
(Do you prefer the numbers to be within a certain range? )
I am using Mac computer. But usually you can just drag and drop onto an open Excel sheet. I usually like to find an image that is in the thousands pixel. The larger the image the larger the pixel. For example if you find an image and its 900 x 720. Just an example. Then it probably isn't good to make it bigger. It won't print nicely. Another option is to go to Canva to edit the size of the image you find on Amazon.

It’s my understanding that you’re using the online (free) version or do you pay for a Microsoft/Excel subscription?
Either way, great to know I can size up in CANVA. Although, not sure what you mean when referring to images from Amazon. (Perhaps you meant to say Google?) Lol
So when you save it as PDF it will show you what image will appear on each page ?
yes it will show every image. It will print vertically. So when you put it together you start from the top of the page then the middle and then the bottom page, then you move to the next row until you have set up the full picture. It is pretty simple.
You should use a lazer cutter to cut the foam board or trace the image on the board before cutting it out. Nice video.

In Excel is where I drop my downloaded picture that I choose from google and them when you go onto print it will show the page break with dots, so you can see how big you need to blow out the image. Then print a big image. If you need it let me know so I can download a pdf file of the mike and the sully I used.
