Yes!! Buddy Spicher is the man! He's still cookin' too, and a harmony master. I've seen him take a melody and on the spot put together two hamony parts, one above, one below, and play them at the same time!
Thank you so much for posting this. Love the twin fiddles and twin mandolins, and Bill's high baritone harmony over Jim and Jesse. Super. As Bill Monroe introduces, Buddy Spicher, fiddle. Mark Squires, fiddle. Tater Tate, bass. Blake Williams, banjo. John Euen, guitar, Bill Monroe, mandolin plus Jesse McReynolds, mandolin, and Jim McReynolds, guitar. They did it up right. Perfect speed & timing, imho...
How, beautiful! Thanks, BluegrassLibrary, for posting this!!! Jim McReynolds reminds me so much of Del (McCoury) here. Funny. Awesome clip. I was too stupid to watch this show when it was current on television!
I agree. I'm not a very big country fan, but I like a lot of older country due to its roots in blues and folk. Now it seems more like pop-rock about guns, god, and pickup trucks sung in a southern accent.
Did anyone other than me hear that high calling voice at the ends of the chours. None other then the great Bill Monroe. adding in them some mountain calls.
Wow..this gave me chill bumps..real bluegrass..you can't beat it..fantastic job
I remember when THIS was country. Those guys have some serious talent. Now country is pop-rock. I miss the old bluegrass days.
Not too many male singers could sing tenor to Jim McReynolds! Big Mon of course. And Jesse is adding a nice baritone line. Great stuff!
Kentucky's finest and southwest Virginia's finest on the same stage. Perfect.
Oh, man. This is it. Jim McReynolds on lead -- perfect. Makes you really miss him, and of course Bill too.
Miss Jesse too . They were friends of mine . Knew them well
Now, that's bluegrass. Everything about this is wonderful. Can't thank you enough for posting.
Classic Bluegrass. Keep playing it.
A lot of high quality musicianship going on here!
Bill really tears it up on the chorus here. Tremendous!
Blue Grass Gold Johnny from Alabama 🎶🎶🎶 wooooooo

JUST AWESOME ❤❤❤❤
Oh lawd, those twin mandolins! Always loved Jim's voice; I miss him and Mr. Bill so much.

I get chills every time I hear that first line of the chorus...
RIP, thanks for a lifetime

That is a powerful sound. As Dylan said, “Turn it up!”
This is what I call 'blast your face off' bluegrass. If you have been to a bluegrass concert and sat kinda close, you know what I mean.
great bunch of guys
Wonderful stuff, Jim & Jesse AND the great Mr. Bill.....too much!!
The BEST.....thanks
The best of the best. Big Mon said, you lead Jim. I'm the tenor round here!
Love it.
Love it!
Bill Monroe could sing some tenor harmony.
Darn it, ninjas, stop cutting onions!!!
Great video. Love the line-up !
I THINK JIM WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT LEAD SINGER FOR MONROE . THEIR VOICES AND PHRASING FIT EACH OTHER PERFECTLY
Only thing is it is not new country! This is the good old style country aka bluegrass.
I believe that New Country was the name of the TV show that this clip came from; the description didn't make that very clear.
It's the real thing
I have seen Mr. Tate on bass play for the Stanley brothers in black and white clips on RUclips - Worried Man Blues to be exact.
Fantastic!
Awesome !!!!
jim and jesse are guests on this song. Bill was usually the sole mandolin player.
Excellent!
❤❤❤❤❤
that's not new... not now, not then... but, one of my favs, for sure. :)
Well, Golly! Of course I liked this - in fact I loved it!
Happy 75th birthday to Buddy Spicher !!!!
GREAT!!!
awesome
Does anyone know how old this song is?
December1948 from everything I've seen
super super:):)
I thought Bill said he was the only mandolin player in the band?
David Stringbean Akeman did a great version of this song.

Tater Tate Bass Fiddle.
These people played for God
Don't get it twisted. Country is older than Bluegrass!
I like string beans version
