How are the Republicans handling the new "they're weird" attack line?

The new Democrat line of attack has shaken the Republican Party, with Kamala Harris branding Trump and JD Vance as "plain weird". So how are they defending themselves?

Well, they are weird they should admit it. They know it.

Conservatism is basically built around conformity. That's really the core of it, and why their extremes tend to involve things like xenophobia, nativism, homophobia, "traditional values" and tribalism. It's why they don't like diversity, cities, or college campuses. The first thing they notice about others is how different they are, so it's kind nice to see it flipped around for once.

It’s effective.
I don’t especially like it, though.
Association with Republicans gives the word “weird” a bad name.
And now when those of us who are a bit different have to describe ourselves as “eldritch” instead, people look at us…weirdly.

I am a democrat but I disagree that liberals aren't seen as weird by centrists and the politically disengaged. The right obsessions just seem even more weird. I just say that to remind Democrats that if Republicans ever become sane again in the post trump era, that Democrats need to moderate even more to compensate. That's not something thenleft side of the party likes to hear because they understandably always want to get the most change they can.
