      Ya, he's spot on. It takes time, and patience. Patience to get past some bumps, like; playing some passage pretty well at home, only to crash and burn at the jam. Or; someone calls a song in your wheel house, but in Bb, instead of C, and you ain't worked it out in a different fingering.

    I'm the guy that knows 100 fiddle tunes but haven't mastered the up/down ... I'm working on picking skills: forward slant, rest strokes, pick grip.... I have to force myself to play VERY SLOW so I ca pay greater attention to pick direction.
    Thanks for your lessons.

      @@CowboyBobDuke That’s cool though. You’ve got the repertoire side dialed in so now just hammer technique for a bit and you’ll be deadly 🤟🙏👍

    Strum machine is awesome, I use it everyday. Also, add Blake and Rice 2 to your library, it rivals any guitar album of any genre imo, and Doc Watson: A Retrospective are my two favourites.

    What is the difference in flatpicking and crosspicking?
    Be nice, I'm just learning. Thanks

    • @aaronjaxonguitar
      @aaronjaxonguitar  18 дней назад +1

      @@Rowen170 Crosspicking is Flatpicking. It just refers to doing alternate picking “across” adjacent strings. Check out the video I did last week on 5 picking exercises and watch the last one to really get a feel for what crosspicking is. Thanks

    Im trying to learn bluegrass, but fingerstyle... No pick no thumb pick. You think ill be restrained somehow?

    • @aaronjaxonguitar
      @aaronjaxonguitar  19 дней назад +1

      @@sk8pkl Not sure. I’ve seen Tommy Emmanuel and Doyle Dykes do a kind of fingerstyle bluegrass but they both use thumb picks.

    • @sk8pkl
      @sk8pkl 19 дней назад

      @aaronjaxonguitar do you think they use upstrokes with thumbpicks? Not shure if i need to develop an upstroke thumb picking technique for those kinds of songs.

      Speed and articulation may be the biggest drawbacks to fingerstyle only. Plus you would never be heard in a jam.
