On a Crobot binge sesh! This vlog has stepped up a level, the tiller shout style communication is boat life comedy gold! 10 months behind so I hope that leak (not allowed to mention v.37) is sorted! 🤘
Hi. I might be a bit late with my advice but if you can install some insulation under your floor - this prevents condensation created as the cold of the bottom (baseplate) meets the warmth of the floor above, creating condensation that to adds or creates the water in the bilge. I used 100mm thick sheet polystyrene. If you can, have the boat lifted out for a hull survey, the surveyor uses an ultra sound device to check the thickness of the steel and while it’s out you can Black it And have some welding done if it’s needed. All the best and Greetings from Narrowboat Wordsworth. I am moored at Debdale wharf Marina near market Harborough, but spent most of my childhood Messing about with boats at Kelpie Marine, the place between those old and new A1 Road bridges you passed. Good luck and happy voyages!
we have heard that, that's a great bit of advice, thanks so much, we do have the boat coming out but its 6 months down the line unfortunately , the previous survey from year ago looked really good so we have faith.oh amazing, good luck on your boat adventures too hope to see you on the rivers and canals in the next months, as soon as this is fixed were off doing the whole circuit :)
Hilarious vlog! Loved it! “Bex, use the stick in the middle!!” Brings back memories...we decided one day to just stop shouting (over manoeuvres and locks etc) because it never works cos you can’t hear one another anyway...and just blag it in front of gongoozlers...and from then on it suddenly got so much easier. Great fun to watch, looking forward to the Big Trip. 👍👍👍
Thanks so much, I don't think we were really aware of it until you replay the footage, so funny, thanks so much for your support and lovely message, hope your still on your boat adventure too :)
@@TheNomadicCrobot may I ask had your both had many holidays/helmsman’s course before buying? I’m a complete novice and mom and me selling our villa to get our 1st boat and YES I will be getting a survey 😂
Love you guys! Plus you're living my dream. Was gonna get a boat this year and was going to be on the ouse as my sister lives in Eaton Socon. But I couldn't afford one as prices went so mental. So now I enjoy watching your escapades on my river instead.👍😆
oh amazing what a small world, the prices did go mad, stick in there and get one in a few years when hopefully the prices fall, it truly is an amazing way of life , thanks so much for your lovely comment :)
Hi; You do realize that you are throwing half of the thickness of the bottom of the boat out. when you hit something or ground the boat on a rock you will have no hull !! It would have been easier to put your boat in a yard and replace the bottom of the hull. Yes the whole thing.
GREAT Vlog - it satisfied places that other vlogs can't reach .. BUT are you saying that Bex can cook as well? - I wanna buy her - just in case I get hungry next time I spring a leak in The Hurunui eh. Cheers & Thanks for sharing.
Oh that's great to hear, I think its probably just a very honest approach to our lives on the boat, Becca is an amazing cook...you should try here bagels, Thanks so much for your lovely comment Martin
Howdy Crew. Just to let you know you're on the Great Ouse; not the Ouse - title 4:09 The River Ouse is actually in Yorkshire and ends at the Humber Estuary. The Great Ouse (the one you're on) starts in Northamptonshire and through another 4 counties ends at The Wash in Norfolk. The navigable bit for you sensibly starts at Bedford Town Bridge and meanders downstream through 15 locks eventually to Denver Sluice (lock 16) which at bathtub (GRP) cruising speed will take you approximately 793 minutes excluding lock passages for which you should allow on average 20 minutes per lock on a good day * figures based on Captains' Logs from the last 30 years. More Useless Information?.. yay! FYI - Winter lock closures on the Great Ouse are: Eaton Socon Lock: 3 Jan - 22 Feb / Godmanchester Lock: 24 Jan - 6 March / Brownshill Lock: 1 Nov - 28 Jan / Hermatige Lock: 1 Nov - 3 Dec. Info correct as of 28 September 2021 from the EA
oh really, shows how clueless we are haha that's so interesting, thanks for correcting us, its always lovely to learn new things about these amazing rivers, thanks so much for the the closure dates too we've been meaning to look into it :)

Hola, your strange hole in your floor may be a plug weld where it's had a new base plate. At least it's dry, happy days.
Owww that's interesting, we both defiantly feel it had a purpose seams so odd thanks for your advice Simon :)
Cor blimey that pizza looks yummy
Becca home made pizza is the best, thanks Shane :)
Try a couple of yoghurt pots and a sixty odd foot length of string. That should help with the old communication problem and doesn’t need batteries.
Haha ...thats actually not a bad idea....at this point anything will help thanks Tim :)

Little tip for better communication, pmr radios (walkie talkies)
