I have used this argument for quite a few years now. Science, law, 'Something cannot come from nothing', which then blew up. So good to hear someone else agrees!!!!

There was nothing happened to the nothing, until for no known reason and by no known means something happened to the nothing and then there was something...
What really annoys me about this that the big bang ignores the laws of nature (first and foremost the law of Conservation of mass, and the 2nd law of thermodynamics), but at the same time people who champion it try to hold other creation stories to said laws of nature. Like literally one of the most common questions asked of Christians by big bang theorists is "where did God come from, he had to come from some where" and according to the laws of nature they would be right. But the genesis account makes it perfectly clear that God PRE-EXISTED nature, was OUTSIDE of nature when he CREATED nature, and WROTE nature's laws, thus is not bound by them any more than a programmer is bound by the laws he writes to govern the world of the game he made.
So it is a double standard, our genesis account can ignore the laws of nature, but yours can't. Even though we are the ones who claim that it was "scientific and natural" and you are the ones who say it was a supernatural miracle.

@@lionbolt2136 The Big Bang Theory, which may or may not be partially or wholly correct but currently provides the most widely accepted model, says that the universe started from a "singularity", tiny but almost inconceivably dense.
It does not claim that "a nothing and a nothing collided and made something".
Where did the singularity come from? Or did it always exist? We don't know. And acknowledging the fact that we don't (yet) know does not make the theory incorrect.
They write book about the meaningless universe and find meaning in their books. Wow. Well said

He probably walked away because your question is so malformed, nonsensical, and such a misrepresentation of what the data suggests. Was he also facepalming as he walked away? Not to mention, just because someone is a professor that does not mean that they are well versed in cosmology. In other words, that's irrelevant.

Remember that the conflict between Science and Religion happened not because Religion said Science couldn't be a thing, but that Science had Disproven God... That led to a whole kafuffle in the early 20th century. ...just people wanting a bigger headline.

@@enterpassword3313 the basic argument against some atheists who have tried to debunk the existence of a creator is modern science. Some very hard core scientists took Darwin and other theories from the scientific world and presented them as facts, while they have it right on Darwin and some other things, presenting the big bang as legit scientific argument is bullocks. Yes, we should keep scepticism, yes we shouldn't blindly follow religion, yes the Bible does have various of stories which aren't suitable for our modern morality and society, but that doesn't mean all scientific theories are facts. I have done arguments with people who weren't atheists, they claim they were, but looking back those people were simply anti religious.
Something to be a scientific fact needs proof, the vast majority of people follow science like religion, they believe theories as facts, this is wrong. Thus the joke behind this comedy, its bullocks, "nothing suddenly exploded". Come on.... sounds like bullocks.

Love how we are created perfect and then set up for failure by some strange experiment by this god that already knows the outcome and then blames us for taking his bait which is strange since disobeying wouldn’t have been possible if sin wasn’t already present, but anyway, then we get cast out of the place of perfection and procreation is then incest or with angels depending on your interpretation from this very clumsy written account. Then all subsequent offspring are doomed to go directly to hell because of a transfer of sin vicariously from the first generation. It truly is a wonderful story

@@Esnara2085 humans weren't "set up". And human sin did not exist until the first humans rejected God's warning and freely and willingly *_chose_* to commit the first sin. God doesn't send anyone to hell. By rejecting and disobeying God, our Creator, those people send themselves to hell. They rejected God and heaven, so the result is exactly what they chose: hell.
I've forever said that the universe is anthropomorphic meaning, the universe is here for us and only we can observe, appreciate and comment on it.

I can't write Hebrew letters here, so this is the translation from Hebrew to English. It's read backwards to English, NOT spoken backwards to English. Key point.

@warriorinagarden6968 Regarding your Genesis 1:1 comment, "beh-reh-SHEET", as you transliterated it, does not just mean "in the beginning"; it actually means "in the beginning of something". It is part of a temporal clause as it is in the construct state. Also, "el-lo-HIM" is the generic Hebrew word for god or gods, but not just Yahweh. As to the "creating", the earth was preexisting under the water, per the Hebrew. It was only changed in form and function.
Regardless of that, the more accurate translation would be "when god began creating the heavens and earth...". There is more I could comment about, but I'm guessing that you have not been formally trained in biblical Hebrew. I recommend reading the serious modern scholarship dealing with this.
Hi Brad, I pray you’re doing well. Thank you for posting this; I love the way you speak what needs to be heard!! We’re living in the last days & everyone needs to understand that. There’s consequences to every action & in the end, there’s only two choices; Eternity in Heaven or Hell! There won’t be another chance then! Everyone needs to read 2nd Chronicles 7:14; we’re living in the final moments of time in this wicked world!! People that don’t believe in God need to pray, read & study the Word of God with an open mind & heart before it’s too late! John 1:1-5 & verse 15, are just a small amount of Scripture that needs to be read that explains that Jesus IS God manifested in the flesh!

The church has an enemy. He deceived Eve. He wants us to believe we are in unity. Only problem is that we are not. We should be uniform in our believes pertaining to salvation. We aren't. We are fooling ourselves. The Hebrew scriptures are for Israel not us. We need to draw lessons from them not doctrine for the church today. If not for God bringing in Paul there would be no salvation. There are 2 different economies going on at the same time but Satan wants us to think that there is only one.
Jesus preached what Moses taught, See Joshua 1:7 and so did Peter. They preached hope in a future kingdom to give safety, prosperity and eternal life. The Jews would not accept Jesus as Christ and their King. Two things going on at the same time can be confusing.

Many people back then were religious, and saw science as a way of attempting to understand the mind of god; even if they were cast out and labeled as heretics by their own church. As to which god they were referring to? Who knows. In the case of Stephen Hawking and how he refers to 'god', I would like to think of Spinoza's god but for all I know it could be the Christian god. It was never really explained. Unless I'm missing some key details, it's very unclear.

@@MarcelNL I just googled it and he did believe that God is a possibility . He wasn't a believer to one religion but he believed that God as an entity was very possible and he tried to understand how this possibility did things. He later in his life admitted that he could be considered a theist.

What's really funny is that first line could be interpreted in the beginning there was God, and he made something that blew up.
This is kind of how I found God myself. I was a man of science, still am, but there are far too many holes in science that really make since when you add in God. The more science I learn the more holes I find, that can only be filled by someone controlling and shaping the universe is a meaningful way. Laws of physics, evolution of life, all go haywire without some creator, at the very least controlling it all enough that it does not descend into chaos.
We don't yet know the full laws of physics, nature. Over half the matter in the universe is dark matter, a complete mystery. Let's not fill the holes in our knowledge with gods as they did of old... lightning... must be Zeus etc. We have enough proven knowledge to debunk any literal interpretation of Genesis etc. 'We don't know' is an acceptable condition to exist in, let's fill the gap in our knowledge with research not philosophical fiction born of our own emotional and mental needs.

There are countless missing links in evolution. Nobody has ever created the most basic of life using the building blocks. We have never seen evolution happen on a Macro level, over our millions of years of domesticating plants and animals. And every mutation we have encounters does something horribly wrong.
Only one thing accounts for the lack of real science explanation. And most people any more treat science as more of a religion than I treat Christianity....Science like Religion should always be questioned and never settled...but you really need both to find truth. If you ignore one you are not looking for truth, but trying to form your own belief system.

The Iris Dement song 'Let the mystery be' kind of sums it up for those waiting for science to explain it all. It will eventually, perhaps in hundreds of years, perhaps sooner. It's not being lost to accept a position of not knowing it's an acceptance of reality. The song kind of sums it up...
If anyone tells you with absolute certainty they know the truth then run a mile, especially if they are religious enough to have lost their sense of humour.
That is bad science. If no one knows the empirical or evidence based explanation, that does not mean the explanation is God did it. Perhaps the technology to measure the phenomenon in a way that allows us to figure out the mechanisms just doesn't exist.....yet. How much less knowledge would our society have if every researcher simply said it must be god? What if we had stopped at the optical microscope and never invented electron microscopes? Calculus was invented by Isaac Newton to figure out a mathematical explanation for how celestial bodies move in the solar system, and that has helped not only astronomers and astronauts but calculus also led to modern statistical analysis used by all researchers in every field of science. What if Newton just gave up and said god did it? We would be living in a very different and less informed world today. Forget "good scientist", a competent scientist would never stop looking for answers of how the natural world works.

I had a conversation with an atheist friend and he said, well unless I can see or measure it then God can't be real. OK says I, so you love your wife? Yes, says he... why? says I, ... huh, what do you mean? Well you can't see or measure that, yet you continue to love her so what's all that about? ... crickets!! He then said, I don't know, I don't have all the answers, no i said, but I believe God has!! He just grinned and said, ' this us why I don't argue with you, you have an answer for everything, and I couldn't help but reply, no I don't, but God has, ha ha ha ha!

Einstein : The speed of light is the universal speed limit.
Astronomers : Discover whole galaxies flying apart faster then light.
That is because the fabric of spacetime is rapidly expanding so it appears as if the galaxies are moving faster than light speed. It's all relative y'know, like relativity. These things can be explained with science, they're not as anomalous as you might think.
By the way, this is where the idea for the warp drive came from. Since, in theory, the fabric of space can move faster than light, if we surround the spaceship with this 'space' we could move faster than light speed without messing with our relative time. Sorry, that was a terrible way of explaining it but it's the best I can do since I'm not that smart.

How to not be an atheist: spend 3 minutes contemplating how the universe was created. You do that, you believe in a higher power.
Let me get this straight. Just because science has not answered all the questions, there must be only one answer: one, Christian god.

Until Jesus came, the rest of the world was expected to live by the rules that Noah was supposed to live by. They were simple rules, such as don't murder people. Some people disparage those rules by giving them a name, Noahide Laws, like that somehow makes them bad. That's what all primitive people around the world are to live by until they get the good news of Jesus.
I do agree that, if we are to keep the Sabbath, as implied in the creation story and by Jesus in the New Testament, we should be keeping it on Saturday. As a scientist, I have no issue reconciling science and God (I also spent a couple of years in Seminary School). Because a lot of Genesis is Allegorical. It was an explanation of how the world came to be to a people barely becoming literate. How do you explain the concept of millions of years to people who can't yet count beyond 20? It's an impossible task. That doesn't place limits on God. It acknowledges that God created other life before he created man, which is what the Creation Story says. We don't come upon Adam and Eve, the ultimate father and mother of the Hebrews until two chapters after the creation.
The Old Testament, is an accounting of Israel's relationship with God. It's not a precise timeline of events, and it wasn't intended to be. The whole "Forty Days and Forty Nights" is an English translation of a Hebrew idiom that technically means "we don't know exactly how long, but it was a good long period of time."
This where we as Christians put ourselves at odds at times with science. Who is to say that Evolution is not a part of God's plan? I certainly don't have the hubris to claim to know God's mind, or how he chose to build his creation. We do know that there was animal life here before us. Denying that denies the Dinosaurs and other creatures whose fossilized remains are continually being discovered.
For me, it's enough to believe that God is the Great I Am.
I don't concern myself much with the Old Testament. The New Testament tells me how I'm supposed to live my life. I always liked the story of John the Apostle. According to legend, John towards the end of his life, would teach/preach to his congregation about (Agape) Love. That was all he would teach. When asked why he didn't teach much about all of the other wonderful things Christ had done and said, he replied "My little children, I talk about Love because that was my Master's Last Command, that we Love each other, as he Loves us. If we can do this, everything else will suffice."
And that is something I attempt every day of my life. I don't succeed, but I keep trying no matter what to Love my fellow man/woman.

No, they were planned by God. He was there before time began. He created time. Our minds can only perceive things in terms of time because we have only existed in time. Eternity and infinity are merely concepts to us, and we can make calculations that give us an inkling of their existence, but only God can truly understand them because he actually is infinite and has always been, is now, and always will be, even after the end of time.

But they agree that it has to have an end, and that there are 2 options for that end, either creation drifts far away and dwells in death and stagnation as everything hopelessly shuts down without any chance for revival, or it returns to the point of origin and is made new!
Further, as they believe that the expansive force of creation (oops) the universe exceeds its ability to collapse in on its self, then it is doomed to drift further away from its beginning by default, meaning there would have to be a great change for us to get back to the beginning.

The beginning of sin, the mystery of iniquity began in the garden of Eden, Genesis 4:8-15-24, and was judged in Jesus, in the garden of Gethsemane. (Actually it began with Lucifer, but since he would never receive forgiveness, God began to impute His righteosness as soon as man sinned, and made a way out for him by the blood of the sinless Lamb slain before the foundation of the world, but that lives, sitted on the throne of God in the heavenly places. Ezekiel 28:16, and promptly judged verses 17-19, John 16:11, while man got a 1000 years deferred punishment, which was paid for by the sinless blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, and the complete man, on the cross of Calvary. )
This sin couldn't readily be judged simply because there was no preceding law about being one's brother's keeper that was broken. (Thus, the whole system was destroyed by the flood, and the laws started with that Genesis 9:5-6, until finally judged and finished on the cross John 19:30). This is why God gave man freewill, to choose to sin or to be freed from sin and its consequence- eternal death, and have the opportunity to choose wisely so he can eat the fruit from the Tree of Life which he had missed for 1000 years Genesis 3:22-23; Revelation 2:7; 22:2, and back to God's Eden.
In verse 15, a precedent was laid down for the time it would take to judge sin, 70x7 or 490 years.
That generation was wiped out by the flood, but the precept remained: sin shall be avenged seventy and seven fold. (Matthew 18:21-23).
This was the standard by which Israel also judged, as they also had to spend 70 sabbath years ( or 70x7= 490 years), in exile, outside of the promised land.
When it was the 69th week year Daniel prayed to God, and fasted to remind Him of the imminent due date of the return of God's people to their promised land; but the sin of the Amorite was not yet full, Genesis 15:16, also, Israel was still in rebellion towards God, and the land cannot sustain rebellion- it was Holy!
So, the Messiah had to come and make a way for grace and justification, and righteousness of God to be imputed, so Israel can get back their monarchy, through the house of David, and back to the kingdom of God, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, as the Son of God, and the Son of man -the promised Son of David, the king of Israel to order His Kingdom Isaiah 9:6; who would ascend His throne as God had promised him. Romans 1:3; Acts 2:30, and come to bring them back to God, Jeremiah 16:16a; Luke 19:10; Matthew 10:5. Instead, they rejected and killed Him.
Thus, from then onwards, the way to God was opened to whosoever would come to Him by grace through the shedding of His blood, by grace through faith in His sacrificial death, burial and resurrection.
They were given the adoption of sons and daughters into the kingdom, which hitherto, they were not permitted Ephesians 2:13; John 1:11-14, becoming heirs and joint heirs of God and the Abrahamic covenanted promises an blessing (Genesis 25:6- the representatives of his other children by Hagar and Keturah, the Kings of the East, could now access and partake of the blessing, and they showed their allegiance and faith, by worshipping Jesus Christ, as a Child!)
Jesus Christ gave His life for all who would simply believe in Him as Lord and Savior, in order to keep them from the wrath of God that will be unleashed upon the Amorite, until the end. Isaiah 63:18; Daniel 8:13; Zechariah 12:3; Luke 21:24; Revelation 11:2.
And eventually, they will be rescued at the second coming of Christ Luke 21:13; Zechariah 14.
He finished the work of salvation of the soul of man John 19:30 and this continues the "acceptable year of the Lord" which began as He took the sealed book of Daniel, 12:4, from God, as the Lamb of God, who alone is Worthy, and opened the seals Revelation 5, and fulfilled the first of the three part of Isaiah 61:2, in Luke 4:16-21, and He SHUT it again. This will run through this dispensation of preaching of the gospel of grace, (which ended the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom, which ended with the stoning of Stephen) by faith in the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and He will return to gather His saints from the world, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15; and present them faultless before the presence of God the Father, with exceeding joy, Jude 24; with victory over sin, devil, death, hell and eternal damnation in the lake of fire and brimstone Isaiah 66:24.
The second dispensation is nearly upon us, at this time Isaiah 63:4, which will usher in the tribulation period when the 70th and last year will be ushered in to finish all transgressions! Daniel 9:24.
( As the Messiah has become the sacrifice for sin, and was dead, buried and rose again from the dead! His shed blood sprinkled on the heavenly mercy seat for propitiation for sins for all who would go to God by and through Him, simply by faith! Ephesians 2:8).
Then, the Lord will return the second time, complete with His body, as a new Creature resting upon the Mount of Olives Zechariah 14, to make a way of escape for the remnants of Israel Matthew 24:31.
Then the battle of armageddon will ensue, and it will end up in total obliteration of this earth. Isaiah 24; Joel chapters 2 and 3, Jeremiah chapters 1-11...; 1 Peter 3 etc.
This is the fullness and end, and judgment of the sin of the Amorite! Matthew 18:21-22; Psalm 75:8; 73:3-17.
Then the new heaven and earth will be created after the conclusion of the millennium- to mark the expiration date of sin and death, like it was back in Eden. Now man will live out the 1000 year curse of death Isaiah 65, (Genesis 5).
Then history will repeat itself when everything reaches full circle- the serpent will be released once again, Revelation 20:1-6, to tempt man as he did with Adam and Eve, those who follow him will get totally judged and cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, together with hell, death, the antichrist, false prophets and all whose portion is with them Isaiah 66:24. Revelation chapters 19-22.
God has perfected the end from the beginning. But as it is written-"My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge " Hosea 4:6, so, "With all thine getting, get understanding " Proverbs 4:7; Luke 24:45. Be filled with and led by the Holy Spirit, and abide in the fold, John 10, until He returns as promised, to take up His purchased possession! John 14:26; Ephesians chapters 1-2!
Then He will set up His kingdom! Isaiah 9:6!

And from there creation began through the Light Who just happens to be the Son of God. He was there with his Father beholding the wonders of his Father and the glory of it all before ANY eyes laid its eyes on God's majesty of creation. In and through him it ALL began he is the beginning of creation the LIGHT!
John chapter one describes Jesus as being the Word of God. He was with God in the beginning. He was God. All things were made by him. Interesting that God created light before he created the sun, moon, and stars that give us light that we can see. But there is a lot more energy in the electromagnetic spectrum that cannot be detected by our eyes. Light that we cannot see.

The fallen man is not created in the image of God:
God created Adam, man in the image of the God's, using the visible Son as the model. Genesis 1:26, breathed into his nostrils and gave him the essence of Himself by His Holy Spirit 2:7. Man fell, lost this essence and God had to cover his nakedness with animal skin- that is what we have now, so man began to procreate in this form Genesis 5:3. This is the image we bear now, but as we turn from sin and accept the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are justified, and God imputes His righteosness on us, breathes His essence back into us John 20:22, seals us Ephesians 1:13-14, leads, teaches and reveals all His will to us, until the redemption of the purchased possession, we shed this image as we take on the image of God in Christ, becoming as He is and placed in His body as members of the Head, becoming the original image of the first Adam in all his glory, now in Christ Jesus.
That is the good news of salvation. That is why many risk shame and mocking just to let others know this good news!
So why do all the gods need people to tell us about them none of these all powerful beings have the ability to make us believe without salesmen.

The Bible was God’s explanation and rule book for a primitive people. Moses was a particle physicist, Abraham wasn’t a molecular biologist. You tell young children very simple truths. You expand on them as they develop more mental acuity.

There are many reasons to doubt that, however, hence the growing Intelligent Design movement, which argues for a young earth and theorizes that fossils and rock layers form quickly instead of over millions of years. It fits well with some recent surprising scientific discoveries that the old earth paradigm fails to explain. If that’s true, and the rock layers formed all at once during a global flood, the perceived time gap between dinosaurs and human doesn’t exist.

There are a few different ways to interpret where dinosaurs fit into the Bible. I think the most accurate to the words on the page is that yes, there were dinosaurs in the garden with Adam and Eve. They were probably on the ark during the flood and died out in the following years during the resulting ice age. The book of Job describes a pair of creatures unlike anything alive today. They do, however, sound suspiciously similar to certain species of dinosaurs we’ve discovered, so that’s interesting.

To be honest, as an atheist, it doesn’t make me negative or nihilistic. In fact, it does the complete opposite. I value every aspect and every second of my life, not because I think God created it, but because I believe that this is all we have. And I know that if I’m socialising with other atheists, and they’re being kind to me. It’s because they’re genuinely a kind person, and genuinely like me. I have been in so many social situations before with fake Christians. He didn’t give a rats arse about me. And were faking mindless because they felt like they had to. Disingenuous kindness is worse than cruelty. At least cruelty is honest. And you don’t need a Bible to be a good person. A lot of people in life, religious or not, can loose their way at time, but the majority of people are good, empathetic and know the difference between right and wrong. And if you don’t, and you need a book to try and teach you those things. Then you have much bigger problems. You don’t need a Bible, you need a psychiatrist.

If a person isn’t able to understand the difference between right or wrong, and all the nuances of human behaviour instinctively, regardless of their religious beliefs and familiarity with any religious texts, then they meet the main, crucial criteria to be classified as legally insane. Understanding right and wrong is a natural human instinct. And it’s a human instinct to be able to understand your own mind. Like I said, it’s common sense. The only people that don’t naturally understand these things legitimately have something wrong in the wiring of their brain. And in that case, a relationship with God isn’t going to fix that. And if you legitimately think that the average person needs something like the Bible to be able to inform them of these things, then I don’t mean any disrespect, but I honestly think that you are giving it far too much credit.
