  • Istanbul is one of the most historically rich and culturally vibrant cities in the world, straddling two continents, Europe and Asia, across the Bosphorus Strait. Originally founded as Byzantium around 660 BC by Greek colonists, it later became the capital of the Roman Empire in 330 BC under Emperor Constantine the Great, who renamed it Constantinople. As the capital of the Byzantine Empire, Constantinople was a major center of Christianity and later became the focal point of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Conquered by the Ottomans in 1453, the city was renamed Istanbul and served as the capital of the Ottoman Empire until its dissolution in 1922. It played a pivotal role as a center of the Islamic world and a hub for trade, culture, and administration.
The Galata Bridge is an iconic bridge in Istanbul, which spans the Golden Horn, an inlet that divides the European side of Istanbul. The concept of bridging the Golden Horn dates back to the 6th century, but the first bridge was constructed in 1845. The current bridge is the fifth one built at this location, completed in 1994.
The Galata Tower, located in the Galata/Karaköy district of Istanbul, is one of the city's most iconic landmarks. The Galata Tower was originally constructed in 1348 during the medieval period by the Genoese colony in Constantinople. It was called the "Tower of Christ" at the time. The tower was built as part of the fortifications surrounding the Genoese district of Galata, serving as a watchtower for defensive purposes.
The Obelisk of Theodosius, is a historical monument located in the Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul. The obelisk was originally erected in the Temple of Karnak in Luxor, Egypt, during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III around 1450 BC. In 357 AD, the Roman Emperor Constantius II had the obelisk transported to Alexandria to commemorate his victory over the Persians. It remained there until Emperor Theodosius I ordered it to be brought to Constantinople in 390 AD.
The Blue Mosque, officially known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is one of Istanbul's most famous and historically significant landmarks. Commissioned by Sultan Ahmed first, the mosque was constructed between 1609 and 1616 during the Ottoman Empire. It was designed by the architect Sedefkâr Mehmed Ağa, a student of the great Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. Sultan Ahmed first intended the mosque to reassert Ottoman power and to create a legacy comparable to the grandeur of the Hagia Sophia, which stands nearby.
Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, also known as Ayasofya in Turkish, is one of the most significant and iconic historic buildings in Istanbul, recognized for its stunning architecture and rich history.
Istanbul Airport (IST), officially known as Istanbul New Airport, is a major international airport located on the European side of Istanbul, Türkiye. It is one of the largest airports in the world and serves as a significant aviation hub connecting Europe, Asia, and beyond. Situated approximately 40 kilometers (about 25 miles) northwest of the city center, the airport is accessible via the O-7 motorway and various public transportation options.

Hagia Sophia, built from 532 to 537, by the Eastern Roman emperor Justinian, is such a beautiful monument! 💛 ( After the Ottoman conquest, in 1453, it served as the central mosque ) A renowned architectural gem!
