There's an article I found through google titled "Four Reasons We Love Mount Hideaway Mysteries" on a homeschooling website that has a public comment from one of the actors in this film that is pretty informative. "I am one of the actors in the film and for all of the reasons mentioned above is why I wanted to be part of this project. I am homeschooled, but I enjoyed seeing how stereotypes are debunked and of course, the family friendly aspect of it all. My 9 year old son truly was hooked (and had nothing to do with me!) we enjoyed the mystery without being scared. Thank you for this and we hope and want to make more quality movies!"
As someone who is throughly familiar with homeschooling (homeschooled from pre-K through high school graduation, attended a co-op for 6 years, and used to teach at a co-op)...this feels fairly accurate 😆 half the students/teachers are normal and competent people, but the other half are awkward caricatures in all the worst ways. It all depends on the location, the parents' motivations to homeschool, and the degree of religiosity in the community.
I’m the awkward caricature half. I don’t know why, Was just born this way. Think I get it from my mother but my mom went to public school so I think it’s just hereditary awkwardness.
If you’re awkward AND were homeschooled or are homeschooling, any mess up or awkwardness gets automatically blamed on homeschooling. But I’ve met so many people who grew up in public school all their lives and they struggle with stuff too
