I was pretty bummed when Donnie had to leave with the stomach issues. Before I started watching the season he was on, I’d been watching his survival videos on TikTok. He has some crazy skills compared to others I’ve seen on the show. If they do another season where contestants get a second chance, I’d love to see Donnie get another shot. I think he has a great chance to take home the win!

@@GertTown the dude lives in nature a lot already, he spends days or weeks at a time living in caves and stuff with his dog living off the land, he just unfortunately caught disentary from bad food or water 💧, he definitely has what it takes to survive in the wild we all make mistakes sometimes tho

He helped us all learn from the comments here: boil wild game thoroughly. Also, I have that same saw, be careful! I broke the blade while using it when it bound up as the tree shifted on the non-cutting push stroke. They cut fantastic, but are not that robust due to the thin blade. Now I cut slower, no need to speed cut and break expensive tools...
I know Donny, he thinks he actually got dysentery before launch. It wasn't the muskrat.
With a small animal like that muskrat, I would have boiled it down into broth and meat. All that would have been left were bones. Also, boiling is a safer way to prepare wild game than roasting over a fire. When the outside is overcooked it can still be red near the bone....and you lose fat when it drips into the fire.
My grandmother who lived from 1889 to 1989 taught me that.

He brought meat as a survival item, besides eating greens, it's the easiest thing to get. I sure hope that is really fat or carbs.
@bali song I hope it's at least pemmican, but pure fat or pure carbs would be wiser. If you can't get protein while you're there...you can't get anything.

They state “these are trained survival experts” but almost every person in every episode are clowns. It’s such a joke, and most of them claim to be survivalist instructors, seriously? Almost chopping off your hand, can’t even set up a tarp, getting your fish hook in your own hand and too sissy to take it out yourself, getting a small cut on your arm and leaving, crying for your wife, tapping out in 3 days one idiot in 6 hours. Trained survivor experts? It’s a circus

Digestion and pain tolerance
So Donny ate a muskrat and got a parasite. It looked like he didn't cook it all the way through. Should have boiled it. He built a great shelter, but made a serious mistake.

Pretty much the same gear I'd bring, but with a few differences.
Titan paracord has internal tinder, wire and fishing line.
I'd bring a more substantial knife for batoning etc.
I'd bring a bigger axe for wood splitting.
I'd bring a much bigger ferro rod.
Probably would have gone with a traio mix of berries seeds and nuts.
You're not allowed to bring the Titan stuff, it has to be plain paracord. I trained with Donny before he did the show, he has the skills to make those smaller tools work. I do agree on the rations though, I'd have gone with pemmican myself.
Dont necessarily need an even bigger axe, i split my firewood with a sharp hultafors hatchet

Kudos Donny I also have had two heart attacks at age 47 I'm 70 now my biggest decision is do I take a shotgun or a rifle with me today it's usually both like you say you have to decide do I sit down and feel sorry for myself or carry on with the life I choose no brainer to I'm going hunting

Good luck...I think you may need more Ferro and more knife....the arctic makes metal more prone to snapping unexpectedly, and of course sucks the heat out of everything....butJMO...
It’s a Bark River Bushcrafter. It’ll handle all he throws at it. Has an axe and saw, as well.
A primitive bow would be perhaps bad choice due to high humidity in the air the bow would risk cracking or getting wet and potentially snapping since primitive wooden bows are affected by weather in the Arctic the bow would just be damaged a plastic bow or fiberglass limbed bow would be much better since it's weather resistant and waterproof you can even make a portable bow with pvc pipes wich can get around 50 pound draw wich is pretty much the same as the wooden primitive bow you have now primitive people had solutions to prevent their bows from getting affected from weather and getting damaged such as waxing the bow or oiling the bow this would prevent the bow from cracking or getting wrapped from weather conditions the wax helps the bow be like plastic and waterproof but the oiling helps prevent cracks from forming and adding to the strengthening and regeneration of wood fibers in the bow make sure u carry these as well whenever using a primitive bow for such places

@@ronpennington4598 He didn't 'wimp out'. He could no longer keep any food down, and could therefore not take his heart medication. He began feeling the symptoms of oncoming heart issues, and had to tap out for medical and health reasons. No amount of money or fame is worth dying for.

@@ronpennington4598 Everyone has limitations. However, due to the application process, the best candidates are selected, so there isn't a very high chance that he took the opportunity from someone 'more qualified'. It's not like a first-come-first-serve sign up.
I was rooting for this man I felt he had what it took. Honestly for someone to win Alone they need to be dropped in an area that produces a lot of game n fish for eating or else.
