I’ve had this pattern for a while now, you’ve gotten me excited to take it out and finally do it. It’s great that you’re offering a kit. It takes time coordinating all the pieces.❤
Pam! Hooray! I love that we helped you with the math party so you can get started and have fun matching the colors! I just sent my mom home with a sample of the green color way bundle we've got.
Wow! You make it look really fun.
It was SO much fun! Picking colors and cutting shapes!
I Love Collage Quilts. This one, the Honeybee, is fabulous. ❤
Thank you! I've got back on several of her patterns and wish I could do so many more but it's finding the time lol
Use a pin to score the back of the paper makes it easier to peel off. Nice job!
Hey that is perfect. I think last time I just wrinkled everything and let it find a spot to tear. Thank you
By drawing on the paper of the SS2, is the pattern reversed so you can cut the fabric?
I did not have SS2 to use so I'm not sure if the paper it has is able to be drawn on better. I don't think the directions have you reverse the pattern. It had you peel the paper off and trace on the inside of the paper, the side that gets ironed back onto the fabric. I hope this helps
Did I hear you say in your video that you were going to put together fabric kits for this bee? I absolutely love your fabric choices and your creativity!
Yes we have kits on our website. I will double check the link. I know we cut a second round and I don't think I have photographed the new set of colors. There were a couple of the original prints that we had to substitute
Do the pieces still fray once they are stuck on ? Did you have any issues with fraying ?
I have not had any issues. It is not a washable project tho. The Karen Buckley scissors help and the iron on keeps the fraying to a minimum
@@quiltedchicken Ok great, thanks !! :)
I,ve sat watched a few video's on Collage wll hows it done.love the bees uv,e finished..ty ,question here sem so far in the video no 1 has shown how to finish the last part,as in do u bind the sides, also wen u lay the bee material down, well all the material, how do u finish the sides of the material of not fraying ,,thxx just beautiful ty
Sylvia, thank you. We had fun going through this process. The pattern says you can finish it just like a quilt or you can mount in like artwork, so that part is totally up to you. We finished the singer pattern like a quilt. With a backing and stitching and regular binding. I haven't decided how to finish the bee so when I do I'll be sure and post about that.
You have a wonderful eye for design and love your work. So...after this stage how do you stitch everything down? Cross hatching?
Thank you! I really enjoy doing this. I quilted another one of her patterns by going around all the edges. Depending on the size of the piece it tried to pull to one side or another because of all the layers. I have seen where fabric collages are layered with chiffon or a fine tulle so that smaller pieces are protected but don't have to be quilted. You can then stitch the sheer fabric down however you'd like
@@quiltedchicken Though it would be tedious, I feel I would need to quilt all the exposed edges down. Thanks for your suggestions, they are really helpful. Beautiful work!
@@farmgirlw837 that's how I felt on the featherweight collage and it turned out well. I will try and get photos of that one. I just haven't had the time to sit and decide what to do with this one. It just gets rolled up for shows or hangs on the wall as a good work in progress item
What do you do with it when done?
There are a couple options to finish it. The pattern says you can quilt it, with batting and backing, or you can mount it like artwork on a wrap around canvas
Why are you not tracing on the fuseable before adding to fabric? That would be much simpler.
Charlene, I will have to look at the instructions again. There was something special about her technique, I just didn't get the hang of it until later. It is also possible I was re-drawing the lines to see them better. We will try and revisit this since it was my first one and we learned a lot
@@quiltedchickenthe thing that’s special is that the SS2 is sticky on both sides, you can temporarily stick your pieces down. In order to keep it from mirroring, you partially peel back the paper on the second paper and trace it there. Hard to explain.
@debbiefeaster755 thank you, yes. That's why she recommends the SS2. I didn't have that for this video so it was extra confusing
Late as usual but here now. LOL
This one was a posted video. No way you would want to watch 8 plus hours of me doing this for real. LOL. Sorry we won't see you Monday. Stay warm and safe.
Alguém conseguiu fazer?
No estoy seguro de entender la pregunta. Google tradujo a Alguien logró hacerlo.
@@quiltedchicken gracias.
Shouldn't you label the pieces as you take them off so as to relocate them on the other side?
Arlene. If you're using the Laura heine method I think it works out that you don't have to flip them like I did. I've only done regular applique and didn't have the iron on that is recommended
Es una maravilla!! Una pena no poder subtitularlo ❤❤
I will have to see how I'm able to do that I apologize
Me encanta, lastima que no esté en español o subtitulado. ❤
I'm sorry, I'll have to look and see how to do the translation
Te lo agradeceré, porque me gustaría aprender ❤
Tape it up on. A picture window!
Oh absolutely! That's great cause I haven't ever seen a light box this big. Thank you!
Seems like there’s so much waste. Am I wrong?
I don't know that it's any more waste than regular quilting when you don't use the whole strip or cut. If you do more than one of these projects you keep some of your favorite prints and use them on another collage
did you need to get permission to make one of her videos ?
I am not instructing on how to do her technique, I'm just sharing my experience of how we put our project together. Please check Laura Heines site if you have technique questions
Love the video, but you gotta find better music! 🤪
Lol. U know it's whatever popped up on adobe as free that RUclips didn't flag. There's no telling how long I had been at the computer before it was time to pick music. I'll do better next time 😜
I am so sorry, but this really confused me.
Jeni, I am really sorry that it was confusing. I will try and find another video maybe from a certified Laura Heine teacher and post that for you
@@quiltedchicken aww thank you so very much. I am trying to learn. I will look up Laura Heine and see what she has. Thank you again.
