As an Assistant Super I check all these boxes. Unfortunately, my Super is not active in keeping the schedule and strategic planning. I am studying lean construction and have used pull plan meetings for duration and sequence, but the PM takes those and shaves days/ stacks work on top of each other. Delayed RFI's, ownership not approving material and change orders... you name it. This job is a nightmare. I'm hoping to stick with it and implement your concepts where I can.

Hey Jason! Thank you for your videos they are great references. I’ve also read your book, Elevating Construction Superintendents and I have learned a lot! I have 20 years of construction experience. I started as a laborer apprentice and worked my way up to lead Fraco scaffold installer for the largest masonry contractor in the PNW. I have no room to move up where I am at and I am considering relocating to the Phoenix metro area. I feel like with my experience on every type of structure, from high rise, manufacturing, to waste water I would be a great candidate for an assistant superintendent role. I have great presence in the field and a feel for clean safe and organized job sites. I also coordinate deliveries very well. My whole career has been in the PNW, in your opinion what does it take to be considered for an assistant superintendent role in a market that has no idea who you are and only can judge by what is written on a resume and letters of recommendation?

I like your way of schooling! Thank you for the accurate information! Now that I understand better the difference between an assistant and a field engineer, I realise I'm doing both right now. Is there an effective way for me to balance both? We are looking for occupancy in 3 months, so it would be for a short-term "blitz" 😅

I would say write down everything you must do that adds the most value and stick to it.

Hi Jason, I’ve been enjoying everything I’ve been learning and I’m trying to transition from an engineering tech into more of the construction side. I started as a Civil draftsman, then designer and learned surveying to complete As-Builts, then plan reviewer, and now an engineering tech for a Water District. After 20 years, I’m finishing my CM degree and want to shoot for an assistant super position. Is this possible without having been in the trades.

Hey there! I am a project engineer 1 but transitioning to assistant super kinda nervous of the change but I feel like the office side is not for me any advice? I will be starting my first project as an assistant super in a month!

Jason thank you for these helpful videos. My name is Kevin & I have a great opportunity to become an assistant super . I have been a journeyman carpenter w/ local 909 and a good friend is going to help get my foot in the door with JRM Construction ( he is a superintendent @JRM). What should I be doing to prep for the interviews , I’m asking because I am excited but nervous

Ask for the softwares that companie use like bluebeam or procore, and with this is enough for the position

I have an interview tomorrow, 7/1/24, for a assistant super for a Fortune 500 company. I've been in construction for 20 years, I know, application and detail. All the interests of this roll are just a bit nerve-racking for such a high-end company.

How did it go?! Did you get it? I’ve been a super for 2 months and it’s the best job in the world. I love what I do!
