Not sure that I agree with every aspect of your presentation. However, I would agree that the psychological toll is different for everyone and dependent on the (severity) of the physical symptoms & limitations experienced. Personally speaking, I had meningitis at 18 months; recently learned my dad & another male relative had undefined SCA; and, as a 59 year old RN, am undergoing genetic testing based on that history versus the damage to my Vermis on MRI. That said, I think you cover the myriad of experienced emotions comprehensively......
