I live in a tropical place and its hot during day, this happens if i play for hours, no problem if I play at night, i think it’d be dust on the fans. I’ll check.
Vertical creates an issue where the dust/debris that enters falls down onto the PSU vent holes. This causes those holes to clog and will eventually cause the PS5 to shut down from overheating. I have seen this first hand and can confirm this. How long it takes to manifest just depends. Depending on how dusty the environment is and how long per day you use it.
This happened to me yesterday playing Need for speed unbound. The fan was quiet then got extremely loud heard a pop and it shut down. Left it off until today tried to turn it on and it was fried. I had to go get a new one. It was upright as well and now I have the new one on it's side.
Here's my fix: I took off the panels after an overheat shutoff and found the hottest part of my ps5. Then I used one of my fans to cool the hottest area. Now it just looks like a pc monitor and I have no more overheating or shut downs.
@@Pacheco_TV94 My best advice is take the panels off, give the fan a clean. After that, turn the ps5 horizontally; if possible use a fan and let it cool down. I just beat the game after these changes. Likely not universal, but figured I’d attempt to help! Best of luck!
@@GINGY440i did the same and havent had a shut down on spider man again. Cleaning the fan and turning horizontal seems like the best way to fix it quickly
Can someone please respond! I just got my ps5 from Best Buy ( new condition ) on Thursday and when it gets overheated it turns off? Is that normal or Best Buy sold me a faulty ps5?
Best Buy didn’t sell you a faulty pS5. If they knew it was faulty they wouldn’t sell it since they get more issues with returned items and lose much more money that way. The PS5 may be faulty and neither you nor Bestbuy found out until you did. Most bestbuy shops will take it back within 14-15 days and some even go beyond depending on the case but use common sense and return the Ps5 as soon as you know. If Bestbuy can’t take it back because obviously it’s outside the return policy just call Sony and if it is defective after a few years we’ll that happens, just contact a professional tech
hi, I Got my ps5 few days ago, my room is really hot and I played for a bit not turning on AC, I noticed it smelled like a burnt plastic after 1 hour of playing, is that normal ?
It's definitely not normal, something could have been sucked in through the vents and ended up in the fun stack. Where do you keep the unit when you are using it?
@@PharaohVanAensland it's gone now. the smell. I think from what I know is that if it gets hot it's normal if it's new to smell at first but now it's good, I placed it vertically now for better airflow. It's in my table with my monitor and pc. It's just my room is small and my windows closed.
@@Pepperjack57IsAwesome I disassembled the entire console and cleaned all dust, removed its own fan and mounted with a more powerful one to the intake from the outside. The Red ring of Death was remedied fast, about 2008 or so. They made what was called the Falcon Chip, in the Black Elite systems. Turned out to work all through the rest of the life cycle. Original Xbox One FAT was the best, One S had bad fan bearings all of the time uggh. One X Vapor cooling was good. If the console were made correctly, much like the orignal Xbox One, One S, Series S/X we wouldn't be watching this video. I have both and the Series X has the best cooling I've ever experienced. Why should/or would you even consider opening the console and having to clean it out, especially with a super "static" vacuum. Which is a big no no. Mine runs hot even at idle, and putting the HDMI, LAN Cable, and wall plug where the heat comes out. That's called BAD ENGINEERING!! Uggh Sony, Heat rises, remember this.
