- Flying the Cessna Citation private jet to the Key West International Airport. The takeoff and landing as well as the cockpit view and ATC communications are included in the flying portion of the video. The day after we land at Key West we rent some bicycles and ride to the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum and Fort Zachary Taylor.

EYW was where I did my first solo flight when I was stationed at NAS Key West (NQX). There was NOT that kind of traffic back then (1988-90). But, I remember that approach!
Soft landing....like butter 👌🏼
What a refreshing view of Key West. 70 degrees sounds like paradise. Shorts and shirts no parkas. Thank you for such a wonderful treat.
Thanks for watching Henry.
Absolutely the best place to relax "Key West" I have visited many times also got married there 2/14/2001 Always fun friendly and the only way to go is biking. Fort Zach beach is the best beach everyday. Thank you for your exciting flights. Be safe and well. Rick in Illinois
thanks Sal. This was my first time staying overnight and I really enjoyed the bikes. Will have to check out the beach next time.
So many things to do as well or absolutely just the great weather in February and March very inviting very friendly. Places to go that is off the beaten path. Places to enjoy the best food off the strip in cozy restaurants.
Mike is back! Someday hope we learn more about him and his career.
...Good Morning Capt...a welcome video..for all of your loyal subscribers here...just emerging from the depths of the deep freeze...and looking around .. . for your reassuring and smiling face..thanks again...
Great 👍 video, thank you 🙏 for sharing ✈️🇨🇦
Always good to see the Moonman with a new video!!
Blue skies like in Tobago
Gotta love blue skies😎
wow...the old honeywell.
I used to fly in and out of Key West a lot in the 1980s. I should not be surprised at how much more it has developed since then, but I am.
Capt., I always enjoy all your videos, but this one is special to me from the back round music you used to the excellent camera work, I`ve watched this one dozens of times. Really appreciate the team work between you and Mike and knowing that Mike has retired makes it even more special to me. You both made a great team. I hope when you look back on these videos with Mike it brings you a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction which you richly deserve. Thanks again..
Great video, thanks! Key West is always, always very busy! it's because for every PPL/CPL tyro/hour builder in the whole of Florida and their instructor, it's almost obligatory to do a day trip down to EYW.
thanks. I can't blame then. That would be a really fun trip for instructor and student.
The approach controller's frequent use of "break" made communication more confusing than it needed to be.
My first time there and I was surprised at how busy it was.
I came here to say the same thing. I feel like it set up pilots to try and simultaneously read back his instructions causing blocked comms. I would assume thats a military controller from the air station. Is the idea to comply and just not acknowledge? Whats the safest way to go about this? Nice video Jim!
Less is more!
I'm an approach controller at the busiest airspace in my country, and we never say break at work, doesn't matter how many Acfts on the screen or talking. For instance, if you say break just 1 time, there is the possibility of the controller next to you say "did you say break? what happened?". Readback plays a major role in safety!
@@bruno.henrique Tell that to ORD ground controllers.
That is AWESOME Captain 😊
thanks Ben.
I always enjoy the extra curricular activities you include in the videos I seem to learn something in each one. Hope the family is doing well. Stay safe. Stay Healthy!

Love you captain moonbeam! Miss flying the Citation Excel every time I watch one of your videos. Fly safe!
Hi Jim -- thanks for another trip with you and Mike. Rather busy ATC and interesting approach - nice change in temps and good to see some sights.

Another great video! I always enjoy being an arm chair copilot on your trips. It’s a wonderful mental break from the craziness going on right now. Thank you for taking the time to share this video with us.
Your videos are awesome, thanks for sharing Capt!
Thanks Adino
Great video Capt. I love Key West,, one of the reasons I'm getting my pilots license. I'll be rewatching this approach about once a week. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video.
Thanks Bruce.

So happy to see you posting new content. Miss you guys. Stay safe
Thanks Larry and you stay safe out there also.
Now I want to bike around Key West

Just a nice place to be and have been also to most end of the island and like us here in the Netherlands we love to bicycle.
Was a nice flight to watch and was a busy air traffic on the radio.
Have a nice weekend and safe flying.
Always enjoy your videos Captain...be safe in your travels.
Thanks and you be safe out there also.
Nice break from some pretty lousy weather in St. Louis this year!
Journe manifique.💥

I almost hit the thumbs down because I was so stinkin' jealous...but I could not bring myself to do it. Keep posting!!
Hi Jim, I really appreciate you posting these, it truly enjoyable to watch and listen to. The CRM is great too.
thanks Gregory.
Love your videos...just was in Fort Meyers a couple of weeks ago. Florida airspace is busy.
thanks. It's especially busy this time of year.
Flying to and landing at a very interesting location. A bit of pandemic "joy". Thanks!
That is a beautiful XL!
thanks.
Hahahaha. You ate so right. It is about 17 degrees here in Chicago today. So, 75 sounds so so good!!!!
man i needed this video Jim after the last couple weeks in Illinois ! thanks man looks really nice down there ! btw you greased that landing
Thanks Tim. It's been a tough winter.
I’ll be landing there next week!
Glad to see you guys riding bikes and getting in some exercise along with sightseeing.
I really enjoyed the ride but, watch out for the traffic.
Your videos are the only I like before hitting play. I truly love them and love seeing you both fly together.
Thanks Dave. I appreciate that.
Thanks for mentioning the "cloud streets". I saw those late January near Atlanta, and they were fascinating from the ground.
I appreciate the feed back. I tend to second guess myself with things like that, asking if it's just me that finds it interesting.
After a tough February weather-wise here in the Northeast, that sunny Key West weather sure does look inviting! Thanks for the great vids, Captain!
It was really nice to wear a short sleeve shirt again.
Enjoyed the video break from the cold here in Ocean City, MD. We sure miss Key West and the Conch fritters with cold beer.
Thanks, I love Conch fritters
I noticed You edited out the Duval Crawl part of the video. Yeah. Bring back the memories. My employer in Cartersville Georgia had a Contract operating out of NAS Key West. Nothing quite like being in a G-1 sharing Airspace in the Hornets Nest. Plus the joy of changong APU's, Engines, Tires, Brakes and scheduled maintenance ect ect on a high decibel ramp.
There were times I had to totally concentrate on riding the bike. I didn't want the ride to end badly.
@@captmoonbeam Jim, I wish you hadn't done that..you rely on your legs and brain as we get older..I didn't see the other pilot on a bike.
I live in Key West that is a very nice jet I'd love to see it big fan of aviation
Just must have missed you made the same trip not via private jet of course, but checked out all the same spots!
Thanks Guys.
Rich.
thanks for watching Ritch.
I flew the rj into Key West last week. It’s really busy right now cause of Covid.
I Always look forward to this notification
Love key west. Have a t-shirt from there that has an old Air Sunshine logo on it. (Otherwise known as Air Sometimes way back then...)
Was from a shop that has changed hands now that was owned by an ex-Vietnam Huey pilot who had a nice tribute to his squadron mates in the back of the store with photos and a thank you to those who didn’t come home.
Checked it out a couple years ago. Store is still selling t-shirts but it looked like the pilot/owner had sold to new owners and retired. I hope he is enjoying the beach somewhere.
Hemingway’s house is an interesting tour if you guys make it back down there sometime. Ask about the penny that’s in the concrete next to the boxing ring turned swimming pool... see if the tour guide knows the story... :-)
Thanks for the trip around key west. You should start dividing up your video. one half in the plane and one half on land after your flight. If you took a poll I bet a lot of people would agree.
Nice video as always, Captain! I've been binge watching them recently even back to your earlier King Air days and thoroughly enjoying them. Any new developments in your company getting the Citation Sovereign?
Thanks Craig. If everything goes according to schedule. we should get it this weekend.
Your hotel room looks nice..
That approach controller was a touch hard to understand IMO.
What I'd term 'poor diction'.
Good thing the car worked out, don’t think there is Uber in the keys at least it wasn’t when I visited a few years back.
New subscriber, love the videos! I don't know if I was the first person to discover this but I did see that makeshift raft on the side of the road on a beach while driving my way home from key west. Seems like they made it because I saw soaked clothes and sandals on the beach next to the raft. They carried the gas in water bottles. I kept one of the bottles because it is a Cuban brand and I've never seen that before.
I was amazed at the determination and ingenuity required to make that boat. As well as the courage to sail it across 90 miles of open water.
@@captmoonbeam “cuban ingenuity” is a real thing we figure it out one way or another. Truly a surreal moment when I found the raft 🇨🇺🇺🇸
It would be nice to see your flight plans to look at on Foreflight
I did Camel back about 4 years ago and really enjoyed it.
Guys you need any converter to preform LPV regarding the use of garmin 750
Merci beaucoup for sharing is so cool
Not sure I have ever heard you talk about cabin pressurization. Is it part of the after take off checks list?
It sounds a little crowded in that airspace!
Hi Captain, really enjoy the video's. One question, Do you throttle back before applying the speed brakes or vise versa? Thanks
Almost always Throttle first to avoid the rumble. . Then speed brakes if more deceleration is needed.
They are so much to do in the Keys. I planned to travel down their 8 years ago and it didn't happen because of an wreck that happen.
It's definitely a busy place. If you can do it, Id suggest going down.
