I think photographers will find this lens useful for travel, landscape, outdoor sports, air shows, aviation, birds and wildlife with a sprinkling of macro on the side. @@R.Hogarth thanks for watching. The good news is Nikon do not limit the Tamron lenses like Sony. You have the full capability of your Z camera. I have another video coming very soon re your other question, stay tuned 🙏
Thanks for reviewing this lens. I've been thinking about it for a while. Also it was nice to see you using it on a Z7. I have a z6ii and most reviews of new lenses that I've watched they pair them with a Z 8 or Z9. Not everyone can afford the top end cameras. Also I believe this lens is not compatible with a converter.
My copy arrived last week. Not disappointed in its performance even when attached to a Z5. It fits well in my backpack and completes my travel trio of Tamron lenses: 17-35, 35-150 & 150-500. Really wish I had the 500mm reach when I was in Iceland this summer.
Thanks for watching. That’s a pretty awesome combo of lenses you got there 👍 Yeah this lens would have been awesome in Iceland for those far away mountain peaks / wildlife etc
I love this video. Tamron makes great glass for a wonderful price point. That minimum focus distance is insane too! Wow! Then of course you find all the birds😂🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching David. It is remarkable the min. focus distance on this lens. When you crop on a 45MP pic, you get almost macro like shots. Then you have that amazing reach of 500mm for birds. Such a awesome diverse lens. Have a great weekend buddy, cheers 🙏
Great job, Adrian! I really like the focus lock option and the Arca-Swiss plate built into the tripod foot. I think ANY lens with a tripod foot should have that and almost none of them do. In fact, I have seven lenses that I can think of with built-in tripod feet and none of them have an Arca-Swiss built-in. This includes the new Canon 200-800 I am on the waiting list for. While I like basically everything about this lens, I'd still choose the NIKKOR 180-600 over it almost every time. Nice review and great photos!
Go the Drongo! I remember being so excited seeing one when we lived out of town in Bundy. Was a great sight to see. Loved all those images Adrian - and incredible to think that you can be so close and shoot at a focal length of 150mm. That just . . . yeah wow. That'd make me think seriously about the potential of such a lens.
Thanks for watching Denise. I was in the park there this morning while it was raining and this Drongo was about 2m away from me and did not flinch! Maybe he heard there was a photographer in town giving away free photographs 😂 Have a great day 🙏
Guest appearance by Jack Sparrow! Love it! Another fabulous run down & review. The images were sharp and loved the bokeh backgrounds too. Thanks for the example on the linear vs non linear as it was much easier to understand what they were trying to say.
Hi Adrian, a great review, buddy! Minimal focus distance of 60cm sounds amazing for a focal range like that. I like your sample shots, really fantastic. The image at ~11:00 is crazy 😉 Thank you for sharing and nice greetings, Christian
Thank you for watching Christian. This lens really is quite remarkable. I only touched the surface with what it can do in this review. Have a fantastic weekend my friend cheers 🍻 🙏
The 35-150mm quickly has become my favorite travel lens. Getting my copy of the 150-500mm sometime this week. 35-500mm in 2 lenses is a dream. Feel the 14-30 may still be necessary in many situations as 35mm sometimes just isn't wide enough for travel. Image quality looked stellar. First review I've seen of this lens and you didn't disappoint. Cheers!
Thanks for watching. I was surprised at the image quality out if this lens for the price. Definitely have no problems using it for all types of photography. Have a great weekend, cheers 🙏
Adrian, great review, Tamron does make some good lens options for most cameras. I am sure that I will be seeing that lens at the local preserve in the very near future. Thanks again!!
Adrian, this is a lens I had thought about buying for the Fuji, but I am now considering buying the Nikon ZF, so I was pleased to hear your thoughts on it, great job. and thanks for sharing, enjoy the rest of the weekend.
I’ve really enjoyed watching all of your super telephoto reviews and comparisons! Would you recommend this lens over the 200-500 + adapter? Sharpness and af accuracy/consistency are the things I’m valuing over the disparity in size/weight.
Thanks for watching my videos. Yes I would choose this Tamron any day over the 200-500 with FTZ adaptor. Tamron is sharper, faster to focus and so much lighter and more compact.
Awesome review mate. The results are amazing, loved the sample footage & stills you shared. That noisy miner chick at he end looked a tad hungry haha. ❤ the kingfisher shots too, wish we had those colourful ones here as well:)
Great video Adrian! I've said it before, but I will never buy a Sony made lens for my Sony system ever again. Not when third party companies such as Tamron and Sigma are putting out very comparable lenses at sometimes half the price. Great video and stills to demonstrate the quality of this lens, especially the parrot and the stork (?), but the water dragon was my favorite. The VR control really made a huge difference! Fantastic content as always! Hope you are doing well, have a great weekend mate!
Thanks Paul for watching. I think this lens would be so perfect for traveling and I’d have no issue using it for landscape. It’s certainly sharp enough. Such a shame I have to give it back. Have a great weekend over there mate cheers, oh and I hope you’re feeling better 🙏📸
I JUST GOT A Z7 II BODY and am looking to buy my first lens. I like bird photography and have a. D7500 DX with the 18-400 Tamron that could be my only travel lens for landscapes, portraits, and animals. If I get this 150-500 lens, what single other lens should I get to cover the rest? I don't really care much for bokeh and am on a limited budget. I do have a Tamron 10-24mm DX lens, but I'd rather take advantage of the full frame sensor of the Z7
