Honestly he fits this role so good even if it's a bit goofy, but it's also incredibly creepy. Enough to fit this cosmic horror atmosphere. I can see why they picked him for this film and I might be the only few that actually likes seeing him act this way.
ThornyDevil I actually respect that he’s in so much low budget stuff. Shows that despite obviously having an ego he’s not above using his star power to help support films of lesser renown.
Ikr, can you imagine if some carbon copy actor like the ones in the MCU were in this movie as the father? It would’ve been so weird seeing them act crazy
@@higaiwokeru That depends on the actor. If it's RDJ, the man could do it as he's played insane people before, this one simply just doesn't have the excuse of drugs. Chris Evans, has no experience in horror, so that could be a good or bad thing. Chris Pratt, was in horror films, both Jurassic World and Jennifer's Body, so he'd have experience with Science gone wrong and Demonic Horrors. Which on top of the cosmic stuff, is pretty much Lovecraft in a nutshell. Chris Hemsworth was in horror with Cabin in the Woods, which also had some Lovecraft themes, so he'd be capable. Mark Ruffalo was in Zodiac, nuff said. Paul Rudd was in Halloween 6. Benedict Cumberbatch was Dr. Frankenstein. Jeremy Renner was in 28 Weeks Later. Point being, is as much as I dislike the MCU, some of the actors had their experiences in at least one horror performance. Some of which even despite the recent shit going on about Lovecraft lately, would kill to be in a Lovecraft movie. The only exception being Iron Boy.
You know Nic Cage was supposed to be in the movie He just wandered on set and began reacting to everything they were filming And he was calling himself Nathan for some reason It’s basically what happened in Vampire’s kiss
Loved his performance in this movie. Sure it's over the top, but he's literally going crazy and I get the feeling the character was a weirdo from the beginning which you can see shades of even before he cracks.
Nah its not that he weird in the beginning. Him being over the top later on makes complete sense. Every scene we see of him before shit goes down, he drinks the contaminated water, consumes the contaminated food, bathes in the contaminated water. Thats why his skin is literally greyscaling and his hair falling out and shit. Hes going crazier cuz he keeps consuming the colour
Nick was a perfect choice for a love craft story and the reason why is he can be sain and bat shit crazy, and in this film he starts out normal and slowly gets worse and worse. 1:22 Also I relate to this bit.
Thing is, this is most resolutely NOT how Lovecraft wrote characters, his characters had way more class. (But they also weren't unintentionally funny, so.)
2:35 "I mean, whatever happened to the good old-fashioned concept of teamwork?!" "If we could all just pull together just once for the sake of your mother." - Nicolas Kim Coppola
Every nic cage movie ive seen ive set the bar so low that it turns out to be a masterpiece in its own. I only saw this for Nic Cage's batshit crazy scenes and was not disappointed.
This was actually the perfect casting. Joely Richardson (I believer is her name) and the other supporting actors brought seriousness that was believable, while Cage and Chong brought the exact right amount of camp that we have come to expect from a Lovecraft adaptation.
*Jeffery Combs:* Considered the most brilliant actor in works inspired by Lovecraft. Who's insanity was rivalled by no other. *Nicolas Cage:* Hold my bourbon.
Really thought this was a good sci fi horror film depicting the “unknowable” cosmic horror. Creepy at times, moments of laughter at him losing his mind. Not only did parts remind me of Mandy since it came out right after but the special effects REALLY brought me back to Annihilation with Natalie Portman. Another incredible sci fi film played straight and with a 2001 level mindfuck for the last 45 minutes. Definitely recommend if you like ET movies with this “unknowable/unexplainable” quality.
Revan 1313 I’m not american so i don’t care about your political drama, all i was saying is that he sounds and acts just like trump when he is ‘possesed’
I'm gonna be honest, I hated this performance during the actual movie. Really not the tone I want in my Lovecraft story. But. Watching it like this, just as separate clips, it is amazingly funny!
Richard Stanley: OK Nic for the first half of this film I want you to act like a normal mild manner father for the second half of the film I want you to play yourself so go ahead & channel the crazy Nicholas Cage we all love to hate - Nicholas Cage: Sounds good to me sign me up & by the way how much do I get paid for this gig?
Well, I now know what people mean when they say Cage likes to give hammy performances, he makes this film look like a parody. Also, Lovecraft managed to tell this story without a single F-bomb. Still want to watch this though.
Nah his hammy performance really fits in this movie. He starts off as a normal dude but his over the type antics completely fit this movie and its plot. He was honestly the best character in this film
Raphael Sanding Jr I mean sure! It was an entertaining film and a lot of aspects worked pretty well. My problem is that the suspense just wasn’t what it could have been. I wasn’t on the edge of my seat y’know? It’s like whenever it started to feel like something is very wrong and there’s about to be some kind of reveal, The movie just goes nowhere with it. (And yes I understand the “ horror of the unknown” concept is the whole point of a lovecraft story.) I think that Nick Cage was not the best actor for this role and that his style of acting just distracts from the story and the unease that the audience is supposed to feel watching it. Idk man. It just didn’t feel very...serious? I guess? Like nobody’s taking the “spooky” seriously in this movie? I wanted to take the spooky seriously!
C L O W N S A N I T Y It was entertaining and creative and it did really well! But you know what else was entertaining and creative and did very well while also maintaining a level of suspense and horror of the unknown? Freaking Annihilation! That movie WAS a color out of space! They just didn’t SAY it. They didn’t spend the entire movie going “The color! The color is the spooky! How can a color be a spooky?? Oooohhh! Spooky color!” 😂
Okay im so confused right now, the reviews say that this movie is great but the comments on the videos are saying that its bad. Can someone please tell me if this movie is good or not because i want to watch it.
It's a great movie with genuinely creepy moments. Nicholas Cage is actually subdued during the first half and once the colour starts infecting everyone he lets loose.
The phrase "Nicholas Cage" now describes a film genre.
More like a form of acting.
Sometimes it’s like he’s in a different movie from everyone else but that adds to how amazing his performances are
Honestly he fits this role so good even if it's a bit goofy, but it's also incredibly creepy. Enough to fit this cosmic horror atmosphere. I can see why they picked him for this film and I might be the only few that actually likes seeing him act this way.
He's one of the most underrated actors of our time. Sure he does a bunch of crap movies, but he's also in plenty of good ones.
ThornyDevil I actually respect that he’s in so much low budget stuff. Shows that despite obviously having an ego he’s not above using his star power to help support films of lesser renown.

@@DrMadd He could also be a fan of Lovecraft. The guy really knows how to balance piss your pants horror with dark humor.

nic cage unilaterally decided to turn this movie into an unofficial sequel to vampire's kiss
Alva..
THERE YOU ARE
Only true fans get this.
I was just talking about this with people.
I just like to imagine it’s the same character.
He was definitely channeling Peter Loew in this movie. 😂
The slam dunk was amazing 🤣🤣🤣
Well, the character he's playing IS going crazy in this movie...
You know Nic Cage was supposed to be in the movie
He just wandered on set and began reacting to everything they were filming
And he was calling himself Nathan for some reason
It’s basically what happened in Vampire’s kiss
It's basically what happened ever since.
i think you forgot to add the "not" word in the first sentence

1:22 to1:30 how you feel when you workout right, eat healthy, sleep enough, and live healthy yet your body doesn’t respond to it or it betrays you.
Memes aside he's fucking amazing at acting as someone going insane

Who said he was acting ?
going?
Idk why but the way he says “They’re ALPACAS!” cracks me up 😂

he didn't already?

Starting at 1:15 & 1:45 Oscar worthy Nicholas Cage performances
I love how he's doing his "Vampire's Kiss" voice
A L P A C A S
0:51 you can tell she's trying not to laugh lol
1:57 Did he just...look at the camera?
I saw this on big screen at cinema. Fekkin awesome watch! I really did enjoy this movie.
The bit with the tomatoes fkn killed me 😂😂
*Jeffery Combs:* Considered the most brilliant actor in works inspired by Lovecraft. Who's insanity was rivalled by no other.
*Nicolas Cage:* Hold my bourbon.
That last scene lmao "life in the stix"
He sounds so broken in that moment.
They're still making GREAT film... thank god
Out of all the recent demented movies he's been in, this one is where his kooky acting actually compliments the plot.
It's just unnerving.
Everyone else are regular actors, regular people.
It's really good.
Then, this guy.
And it works so well.
This was the weirdest movie ever
1:03 Nic Cage trying to impersonate Mark Hamill.
The colour out of space has been .... "caged"
1:43
........and that's why Nicholas Cage is a national treasure (no pun intended).
1:52 my reaction to the new fantastic four movie
Jesus he's so fucking good at playing unstable and psycho and stressed.
I thought it was hilarious that the Color turned him into Peter Loew from Vampire’s Kiss
I knew I was not gonna be disappointed in this movie expecting his performance
His mind was already gone long before the "color" arrived
I love how you can clearly see Madeleine Arthur is on the verge of cracking up.
1:39 my favourite

Thanks for the recommendation! If I might make a suggestion in return, give The Void (2016) a look if you haven't already!
Spiritual sequel to Vampire’s Kiss! 🙌
1:41 The Irishman (2019)
director before the scene: do your thing Nic.
Nic: Bruh..
Release the Nicholas!
1:38 me when i dropped a diamond in lava in minecraft or i can't get a riddler trophy in arkham knight
I paid 3 dollars to see this movie but id pay 30 to see more of Nick Cage's Vampires Kiss voice
SLAM DUNK!!!
LIFE IN THE STICKS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
i see this movie in my tv and it so scary well when the mom and son sticked and scared and really enjoy the movie👍;-;
1:50 lol why?
That's my favourite scene.
Cause cage
Honestly if I were stuck in this scenario that would’ve been my reaction at that point
I swear, possesed nicholas cage is donald trump
sigh....
Revan 1313 He does do the same mannerisms and the voice is very reminiscent of DJT.
Revan 1313 I’m not american so i don’t care about your political drama, all i was saying is that he sounds and acts just like trump when he is ‘possesed’
Dude, first thing I thought the second he became possessed lmao
He did basically the same thing in Vampire's Kiss
"Crazy performance"? You mean Nicolas Cage performing?
Nic not approving the Volvo 245 is pure gold 👍
the, uh, car is not happening
Perfectly cast, gotta say.
I'm getting the Cage rage.
Life in the sticks....
Nicolas Cage is awesome in horror movies.
Cage being Cage
When you hire the right actor for the job 100%
He keeps going from being British to American 🤣
He would have been a great Jack Torrence.
@1:12 this is why I’m not allowed inside of grocery stores.
these scenes are the ones that made this movie kinda of a comedy
He is so fucking good in this film.
Vampire's Kiss 2

Conclusion: *"Life in the stix."*
Nicholas Cage, I know nothing about him but him beating the shit out of animatronics
It's geting Rage!!
He turns into his character from vampires kiss

He was *made* for this film
I love how when he goes psycho, he does a Donald Trump impersonation. Genius.

Nicolas Cage plays Nicolas Cage

These are real scenes from the movie? Or some kind of parody?
It's a real horror movie and a good one too, Color Out Of Space.
Look, N. Cage is a great actor. I really think so; just sometimes he was broke.
I feel like its not the real Nicolas Cage beacuse of his really crazy preformance

why does he sound like donald trump on 1:04 💀
