    Chip Foose just unveiled his 1971 Mach 1 Mustang. Chip and his team are dropped the classic 71' Mustang body onto a modern 2011 Mustang GT, extending the wheelbase by 3 inches. The front end is completely restructured with new strut towers and a streamlined engine bay.
    The flatness of the 71's stock rear quarters were replaced with quarters from a 1970 Sportsroof Mustang. These new panels added a new shape and width to fit larger rear wheels & tires.
    The car is powered by a naturally aspirated Coyote engine and automatic transmission . The interior and subframe are all 2011 GT giving this a classic look with all of the custom comforts and performance of a modern Mustang

    FAIL 👎👎
    Really too bad to see a classic Mustang or any car for that matter hacked up by a bodyman with more money than brains.
    I have had a 72' sportsroof & currently own a 06' drop top. They look good the way they are.
    This Foosemobile looks like 💩. Absolutely terrible color for starters.

    The Mustang looks great but I can't get past the Camaro taillights. The taillights look more like a after thought

    • @MustangConnection1
      @MustangConnection1  6 лет назад +2

      Chip likes to change out taillights to fit the design, would have preferred the Torino taillights thought vs the camaro units

  • @dave388

    Those taillights kill me. The original 71 mustang taillights aren’t my favorite, but they are so much better than these smh

    • @MustangConnection1
      @MustangConnection1  6 лет назад +5

      At first I thought they were 70-71 torino lights but yes they appear to be 69 camaro Rs tailights

    • @dave388
      @dave388 6 лет назад +5

      MustangConnection1 They are great looking taillights on their own, but in my opinion look horrible on this particular car. They just ruin the tail end for me.

    • @edwinbennett4611
      @edwinbennett4611 5 лет назад +1

      Agreed. Ford didn't exactly hit it out of the park with their original 71-73 tail light design, but I've never seen any that improve on it either. And these are absolutely horrible.

  • @Rarerat
    @Rarerat 6 лет назад +5

    Neat car but I hate the wheels & the 69 Camaro RS tail lights are well... lol..

    • @MustangConnection1
      @MustangConnection1  6 лет назад +1

      I think it's hard to rebody the early bodies to the later model chassis because of the width of the newer car. It causes some offset issues on the wheels but the car looks pretty nice in person. Agree on the taillights would have preferred a Torino light if swapping was a must.

  • @edwinbennett4611
    @edwinbennett4611 5 лет назад +1

    It's cool, but a lot of work to make something that doesn't look as good as what came out of the factory in 1971. No point at all in moving the wheels forward, and what's with this guy always cutting up the bumpers and trying to make them look like modern junk plastic front ends. He does good work, but a lot of just goofy unnecessary things too. The 69-70 qps were kind of cool, but not worth doing. I do like how the stripes wrap into the tail panel. But hate the tail lights. What the hell is wrong with people not liking 71-73 fastback body style? I love all 65-73 Mustang Fastbacks and the 69-70s Shelbys which were like a bridge between the 69-70 and 71-73 body styles.

    • @alankulchecki3160
      @alankulchecki3160 5 лет назад

      Ive owned a lot of mustangs, and would like to give you my take on the 71-73 fastback. I currently have 71 mach 1, 71 base fastback, 73 base fastback. I like my 70 mach much better, and heres why. If you just get in the 71 vs the 70 you feel like your sitting on the floor. Looking forward, the dash is like a wall. 1970 dashes were lower and more formed not like the 71/73. Im a tall person and ford made the 71 lower. when I look over the 70 dash, I see everything from a higher vantage point. 71 im looking at a wall for a dash. give me my "70".

    I'm a huge fan of the 71-73 'stangs, and it disappoints me that after 40+ years that these cars seem to gather little respect in certain circles. I can appreciate the fabrication that went into this car, but it's not for me.

    WOW!...Rich!...Very Nice! I graduated from High School in 71! As you know I told you I had a 66 Mustang Coupe in Hiigh School back in 71 at that time and I fixed it up like a 66 Shelby GT350 Coupe! I Drove a 71 Green Rental 71 Mustang Coupe to my High School Prom at that time, but it was nowhere near as nice as this Foose 71 Flat Roof (Fastback) Body on a 2011 Mustang GT Chassis!...But I wonder if the Rear Window still looks like a "MailShot" from the Rearview Mirror?
    Oh Well, it is still very nice!...I really like the Ideal of using a 2011 Mustang GT Chassis Drivetrain including the complete 2011 Interior into the 71 Body! If the 71 Mustangs look like this Foose Designed version, I would have probably bought a Coupe GT Model!...God Bless!

      Hey David, Nice to see you posting, it's been a while yes I recall you mentioned your 66 before, sounds cool! I have had a couple of these big bodied stangs including a Boss 351 which I loved plus my sister drove a 71 Mach 1 at one point as her DD. I am pretty sure that rear window still sucks for visibility to be sure but what a great job he did on this build.

      Hey David, Nice to see you, been a while. It's hard to get the wheel offset to work on these rebodied cars without wheel flairs. Still a minor quibble I think we would both agree an amazing build.

    The 71-73 Mustangs were actually the best of the first gen. They actually handled and were not based on the Falcon. Maybe Foose should try designing his own original car from scratch.
